Inside the iron door.
Bradley sat on the ground, his bloodstained palms touched by the light.
His deep eyes gradually gained clarity.
"Freya, do you regret it?"
"Regret what?"
"Regret... meeting me."
Freya said firmly, "I've never regretted it. I'm grateful to have met you, to love you, to fight alongside you."
A glistening tear flashed in the man's eyes.
His thin lips curved slightly as he looked at the shadow projected from outside, reaching out as if to embrace.
She was the most important woman in his life.
He just wanted to hold her hand tightly and protect her in his embrace.
No matter how difficult the road ahead, he would do everything in his power to bring her into the light.
…
Freya stayed until dawn, but eventually succumbed to exhaustion and fell into a deep sleep.
At this moment, Gabriel went to open the iron door.
A beam of moonlight shone through.
Bradley emerged from inside, looking disheveled, and knelt half-bent on the ground, his bloodstained hand reaching out to touch her face.
But then he hesitated, afraid of dirtying her, and quickly withdrew his hand.
"Go get me some water and bring a clean set of clothes."
He commanded coldly.
Gabriel quickly complied.
After the clothes arrived, Bradley cleaned himself up briefly, changed into clean clothes, and only then did he dare to touch her.
Even after washing up, his handsome face still bore a trace of hostility, his dark eyes like deep pools, and thin lines of blood streaking his lips.
He gently stroked Freya's face.
Clearly exhausted, she slept deeply, unaware of his presence beside her.
He carefully lifted her into his arms and strode towards the door.
"Mr. Bradley, there's still too much uncertainty about your condition. You can't leave..."
Gabriel blocked his path.
"I'll take her back to her room to sleep and come back soon," he interrupted coldly.
Not feeling reassured, Gabriel personally followed, along with some people.
Bradley knew his own condition; during his fits of madness, he wouldn't recognize anyone.
He also remembered injuring several people.
There was also a bodyguard whose ribs he had broken.
Being confined in the basement was the best way to control his condition, and he wouldn't resist.
"Just now, news came from Solterra. Yvette has been arrested, and Ian Logan has begun to panic, frantically catching people to use as test subjects, preparing to recreate a Beast Army."
Bradley's expression tightened. He said calmly, "When will the plan to destroy the laboratory be carried out?"
"In the next couple of days."
"Good. Destroy all the toxins and arrest all the developers for me, leaving none behind."
"Yes."
Gabriel quickly made arrangements.
They had their people in Solterra, and once Bradley gave the order, all the plans could be put into action.
"By the way, has Mitch been detoxified? How do you plan to deal with him?"
No one anticipated that Hayden's meticulously developed antidote would fail to work on Bradley.
"Where is he?"
"He's been sent to the Sigelac, and we have personnel closely monitoring him."
"Well, let's wait a few days, and I'll personally visit him."
That day, during the conversation with Mitch, Bradley gained valuable information from him.
This man still held considerable importance and could potentially become the pivotal point in this conflict.
Bradley carried Freya back to the room, gently laying her on the bed.
Concerned that she might awaken, he didn't linger and departed for the basement.
The chains were once again secured around his wrists and ankles. He stood in the unending darkness, his gaze icy.
The next morning.
Freya woke from her slumber.
As she opened her eyes, her mind remained foggy.
Recalling being in the basement, feeling immensely fatigued, she had accidentally drifted off to sleep.
But now, how did she find herself lying in bed?
She rose from bed without bothering to freshen up and hurried into the study.
To her disappointment, it was empty, lacking the presence she had hoped for.
She ran downstairs and found two people sitting on the sofa in the living room.
They were Xavier and Patrick.
"Where's Bradley?" She inquired anxiously.
"Mr. Bradley is still in the basement. Is everything alright, Freya?"
"How did I get back last night?"
In a daze, Freya could still feel the warmth of a strong embrace, with a faint hint of mint lingering in the air.
"Mr. Bradley brought you back, but he's concerned about his condition and intends to remain in the basement for a few more days."
Xavier didn't intend to hide it.
Pursing her lips, Freya realized it was indeed him.
Her eyes welled up with tears, and she moved to find him.
However, Xavier intervened, "Freya, Mr. Bradley instructed that if you truly care for him, you shouldn't go over. He doesn't want you to witness him in such distress."
Upon hearing this, Freya's steps faltered.
She understood his stubborn nature, desiring to show only his best side to her.
She also recognized that his decision to send her back to the bedroom was out of concern for her well-being.
And she realized that his departure was driven by the fear of her awakening to witness his vulnerable state.
Feeling a stinging sensation in her eyes, Freya wiped away her tears.
He is struggling with the disease.
What good would it do to be sad and upset here?
As a doctor, her duty was to strive to cure his illness.
As his wife, she should stand by his side and fight alongside him.
With a determined expression, she wiped her tears away and returned to her room.
After straightening up, she returned downstairs, but Xavier and Patrick were no longer on the sofa.
"Rosa, I won't be back for lunch. If Mr. Bradley returns, please inform him."
She informed as she grabbed her bag, ready to leave.
Rosa halted her, "Madam, don't you want breakfast?"
"No, I'm in a rush."
She replied curtly before driving off.
Shortly after she departed, Bradley entered from outside.
Initially planning to spend a few more days in the basement observing, Xavier informed him that his condition had stabilized, prompting his release.
Breakfast was already prepared by Rosa.
Seeing him arrive, she hurriedly relayed, "Mr. Bradley, Madam said she won't be back for lunch and asked me to inform you."
"Did she say where she was going?"
Rosa shook her head, "She left hastily without saying anything."
He nodded, retreating to his room for a shower and change before descending to have his meal.
"For safety measures, I need to draw your blood for further examination."
Xavier and Patrick arrived together.
Despite his condition being stable, Bradley's unique situation warranted caution.
Bradley offered his arm, signaling for them to proceed.
Xavier extracted his blood and arranged for it to be sent to the lab for testing.
"I'll be visiting Mitch later. Gabriel will accompany me."
Bradley stated gracefully as he savored his breakfast, glancing casually at the man on the sofa.
"Also, make sure Yvette is taken to the organization and kept under strict surveillance."
