Ian grew increasingly restless. If a replacement for Yvette couldn't be found soon, he might resort to sending a rescue mission into the capital.
The members of Sigelac were all highly skilled.
Sending individuals to Sigelac was presently deemed the most secure option.
"Yes."
Gabriel nodded.
"And one more thing, I suspect there are Logan family spies among us. Whoever they are, they must be uncovered."
Bradley narrowed his gaze.
Previously, he found it suspicious when Juan Logan managed to infiltrate the capital discreetly.
This time, when he sought treatment from Hayden Barnes, Ian immediately learned of it and dispatched Yvette and Mitch to intervene.
Afterwards, Hayden mysteriously collapsed and died.
This raised suspicions of collusion with the Logan family.
He spent the sleepless night pondering this issue.
Although he had suspected numerous individuals, they were all cleared.
Sigelac was his meticulously nurtured force, and Gabriel, Xavier, and Patrick were loyal brothers who had stood by him through thick and thin.
In Royal Garden Mansion, Frederick and Rosa were also trustworthy people. Besides, they had no reason to persecute him.
As for Freya, it was inconceivable. She was his wife, and they were lifelong partners.
He couldn't fathom who the hidden traitor might be.
"Don't spread this matter. Investigate quietly and keep it discreet."
"Understood," Gabriel complied.
…
Freya visited the Culinary Crown Court.
To her surprise, she found Lance there.
"Mr. Fenton, what a coincidence."
"Not really. I'm here because of your recommendation!" Lance on the bed, needles protruding from various points on his body.
He hadn't returned to the company yesterday but had his assistant drive him to Culinary Crown Court.
Initially reluctant, Ella agreed to treat him after Lance showed her the text message Freya had sent him.
"Freya, you're here."
Ella greeted her as she emerged from the sterilization room. "You really know how to give me work."
After exchanging pleasantries with Lance, Freya then followed Ella to the lounge.
Looking somewhat innocent, she explained, "If I don't let him come, he'll pester me every day for treatment. And you know Bradley's temperament. If he finds out I'm getting too close to Lance again, he'll become jealous and angry."
"Freya, I've noticed a change in you."
Ella observed, crossing her arms.
"A change? Really?"
Freya touched her face, puzzled by the remark.
"I mean, your attitude has changed. In the past, you would refuse to treat patients you didn't want to see directly, but now you're more accommodating, even referring people to me. You said I should help manage the clinic, but now I'm busy treating patients. When will I have time for romance?"
Hearing this, Freya was taken aback.
Was the woman complaining to her in front of her definitely the cold goddess Ms. Fisher?
In the past, Ella was busy helping her manage the medical clinic. If she had anything to do, Ella would help her.
For all these years, she has not had a single complaint.
But now, since she was dating Xavier, she actually learned to complain.
Freya suddenly felt guilty.
She shouldn't have left this matter to her.
"Ella, I was wrong. But, Lance is still my business partner. I want to assist him once, even if it inconveniences you."
"Alright, since he's already here, I'll help him this time. However, Freya, I must inform you that his condition may be untreatable."
During her recent examination of Lance, she discovered he suffered from a severe case of body chills.
Lance himself admitted that whenever the weather changed, he experienced excruciating pain throughout his body, sometimes rendering him bedridden.
This underlying ailment was attributed to prolonged exposure to damp environments since childhood.
"His condition is indeed quite formidable. I'll offer some guidance, and you can follow my instructions."
Freya remarked, donning a nearby lab coat. "But presently, Bradley's condition doesn't appear promising. I need to swiftly find a way to manage his condition. I'll be staying at the clinic in the coming days. Unless there's an urgent matter, please don't let anyone disturb me."
"It seems the power of love is truly remarkable. I never anticipated you'd don the lab coat again for his sake."
After Freya retired, she refrained from wearing the lab coat.
Even her visits to the clinic were solely to collect medication, avoiding the laboratory altogether.
Yet now, for Bradley's sake, she took this step once more.
Freya smiled but remained silent. She took a deep breath and entered the laboratory.
Her retirement wasn't due to a lack of desire to practice medicine and help others.
Instead, a human life was lost in her hands. She has been feeling guilty and unable to get out of it.
During childbirth, a pregnant woman had suffered severe bleeding, pleading for her child's life to be saved. However, Freya ended up saving the mother, resulting in the loss of the child.
The emotional trauma drove the pregnant woman to madness.
Since then, Freya felt undeserving of the title of doctor.
She couldn't even save the life of a single child, so how could she continue to have the audacity to save lives?
In the end, she chose to take off her white coat and retire, entrusting the clinic to Ella to manage.
If it weren't for Bradley, perhaps she would never have worn this garment again in her life.
The laboratory remained the same as before, but it was cleaned meticulously.
Freya dedicated herself to her experiments, skipping meals, and remained absorbed in her work until evening.
Culinary Crown Court's reputation didn't stem from its many branches but rather from its exceptional medicinal herbs. Each formula was painstakingly developed by her through extensive experimentation.
Every herb held immense value.
Transforming them into pills required numerous steps, and after thorough testing, they were cautiously administered to patients.
Freya poured all her energy into her research.
Without Ella's interruption, she might have worked tirelessly for days.
"Freya, you missed lunch, so I brought you some food."
"Don't bring it in yet. Food might disrupt the laboratory's medicinal scents. I'll go out and eat when I'm hungry."
She spoke softly without lifting her head.
"Then remember to eat when you take a break. It's not healthy to go without food or water."
"Yeah, I understand."
She remained focused on her work.
Witnessing this, Ella shook her head in resignation.
Just as she was about to close the door and leave, she turned around and almost bumped into the person behind her.
Just as she was about to speak out, the person coming made a gesture of silence.
Ella quickly complied, silently conveying with her eyes that Freya hadn't eaten, before leaving.
