"How did he trace my IP when it wasn't logged in?"
"Sorry, I logged in last night to handle some things and unexpectedly got monitored by him."
"I've already explained everything to Michael. Why is he still looking for me?"
Freya squinted.
"I heard that since you left, Cloudstone's situation hasn't been very optimistic. Several major projects have failed, and they may face huge compensation. I guess Michael wants to find you to help them out of this crisis. After all, you're a master in the IT industry. With you, resurrecting these major projects wouldn't be difficult."
Ella explained what she had inadvertently heard.
These days, Lance had been undergoing acupuncture treatment in the clinic, and she happened to be there when his assistant came to report on his condition.
Unexpectedly, Poppy's departure had such a big impact on Michael.
"I've already withdrawn my shares from him. Anything related to Cloudstone has nothing to do with me."
She had done her best to treat Lance.
Without chatting much with Ella, Freya went back to the lab to continue her work.
She prepared the medicinal herbs according to the prescription in her notes. For the last ingredient, she had to try each one based on the initial character.
Time passed bit by bit, and she tried over a dozen herbs, but still couldn't find any clues.
Ella entered with a glass of water for her. "Freya, don't push yourself too hard. Your body won't be able to handle it like this."
"Ella, can you help me see if there are any other herbs related to the word 'root'?"
Freya couldn't think of any other herbs related to the word 'root.'
"Finding one herb with just a single word is really difficult."
Ella also had a headache. She had almost brought out all the herbs with 'root' from the clinic, but after Freya's experiments all morning, none seemed to be what they were looking for.
She also asked Xavier for help, but he couldn't figure out what herb it was either.
"No matter how difficult it is, I will find it."
Freya wasn't about to give up. She sat down quietly to think.
She believed she could find it, and she definitely wouldn't give up.
"Oh right, Lance is here. I'm going out to give him acupuncture. Call me if you need anything."
Ella turned and left. She hadn't seen Freya so consumed by work for years.
Lance was already waiting in the consultation room.
When he saw her come out, he politely greeted her.
Ella gestured for him to lie down and then began acupuncture on him as Freya had instructed.
As she was removing the needles, her assistant came in to report.
"Mr. Fenton, Mr. Lindsay from Celestial Tech called, asking for a definite time from you about when you can repair the crashed software!"
The assistant also looked worried. What was once a thriving Cloudstone had been severely hit due to Poppy's departure.
Celestial Tech was a major partner of Cloudstone Group, but recent projects had been going wrong one after another. The other party had already issued a final warning: if the crashed software wasn't fixed, they would cancel their cooperation with Cloudstone.
Once Celestial Tech stopped cooperating, other partners would follow suit. Then Cloudstone would face the fate of huge debts.
Although Lance had other industries, Fenton Group might be able to bear these compensations.
But Cloudstone Group was Lance's pride and joy.
"Continue trying to contact Poppy. No matter what, we have to find her."
Only Poppy could handle this mess.
As long as there was a glimmer of hope, he wouldn't give up.
After the assistant left, Lance's face turned extremely ugly. He took out his phone and opened the messaging app, continuing to contact Poppy.
[Poppy, I need your help.]
The black and gray profile picture remained unlit, and Lance clenched his fist in frustration.
Ella was in the pharmacy, and she caught the conversation outside.
She went back to the lab and relayed what she had heard to Freya.
"I guess that Cloudstone won't survive this disaster."
The movement of Freya's hand paused abruptly as she focused, and some liquid from the pipette accidentally spilled onto the lab bench.
"Cloudstone Group has also invested a lot of your efforts. Are you really planning to watch it collapse?"
It wasn't that Ella was intentionally biased, but Cloudstone's journey from an insignificant company to its current status had a lot to do with the financial input from Lance, but even more so with Freya's hard work.
Even the entire defense system of Cloudstone was coded personally by Freya.
If all of this were to be destroyed along with the company's downfall, it would be regrettable to some extent.
"I don't have the time or energy to deal with Cloudstone's affairs now. If you have the time, please help resolve this."
Ella was right; Cloudstone had absorbed a lot of her efforts.
If anything were to happen to Cloudstone, she wouldn't feel good about it either.
"Alright, but my skills are limited. Some matters may require your personal intervention."
Ella breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this.
She did it because she understood Freya and didn't want her to have any regrets in life.
After all, without Cloudstone, there would be no Freya as she was today.
After Lance left, Ella took charge of the matter.
Back when she was still a special agent, she was proficient in hacking techniques, but her skills were not as advanced as Freya's.
Yesterday, the reason she logged into Poppy's IP was that only Poppy could access Cloudstone's defense system.
She overheard Lance and his assistant's conversation and wanted to sneak in to check Cloudstone's situation, but she was nearly exposed as soon as she logged in.
Today, using Poppy's account, she was monitored as soon as she entered.
However, she was prepared and used counter-intrusion to disrupt the opponent's system, successfully entering Cloudstone's information room.
To her surprise, it was worse than she had anticipated; several projects handled by Cloudstone had hit major roadblocks.
Ella had been following Freya closely and knew that Poppy was in charge of these projects.
When Freya left, these projects hadn't found suitable successors. Lance handed them over to the technical department, but the code written by Poppy was too complex for ordinary people to follow her train of thought.
Although the technical department consisted of talents carefully selected by Lance, their skills were not refined enough, and within a few days, they brought down the projects.
Hence, Lance was anxious to contact Poppy.
Ella knew the reason and sought out Freya.
"It seems that I have limited abilities. You handled these projects, and the code was written by you. Unless there's a software expert better than you, otherwise... we'll be at a loss."
"Freya, I'm afraid you'll have to handle this matter yourself."
"Okay, I'll contact Lance and help him for the last time!"
After this time, she really wouldn't be able to intervene in Cloudstone's life or death.
Freya logged into the chat software, and chat windows popped up one after another.
All were messages sent to her by Lance.
[Poppy, I need your help]
The message was written twenty minutes ago.
Freya replied with a sentence.
[Alright, I'll help you for the last time.]
