Chapter 383 Delayed Reaction

Patrick had someone tidy up the courtyard, while Xavier and Ella rushed to the medical room.

Freya was messed up bad.

The concealed weapon Steve had thrown, penetrated deeply, even damaging the major artery, resulting in uncontrolled bleeding.

But there wasn't enough type B blood in the medical room, so they had no option but to swiftly draw blood from Bradley for emergency treatment.

It wasn't clear how much blood was drawn in total, but eventually Bradley's complexion changed.

Xavier quickly ordered to stop, "We can't draw any more blood."

If they kept drawing the blood, Bradley would be at risk.

"Keep drawing until we had enough!"

The man firmly gripped Freya's hand, his dark eyes filled with compassion.

He was ready to give his blood if it meant saving her, no hesitation!

"Bradley, I know you're worried about the girl, but don't forget, you still have to focus on getting the country back on track. You can't let anything happening!"

Xavier was deeply concerned.

He understood how Bradley felt.

If it were Ella lying there right now, he'd be ready to lay down his life for her too.

"Yes, Bradley. If Freya wakes up and sees you like this, she'll be heartbroken for sure," Ella chimed in.

"I have the same blood type, you can take mine."

When Bradley heard this, he clenched his fist tight.

He glanced at Freya, his heart heavy with guilt.

It was all because he hadn't kept her safe.

If he had gotten there sooner, she wouldn't have gotten hurt.

After some rescue attempts, Freya finally made it through the dangerous period.

Bradley stuck by her side, nursing her back to health every step of the way.

Her injuries were severe, not just on her back, but she was scraped up all over.

With her blood sugar bottoming out from not eating, she ended up passing out.

Three days later, Freya finally came back from her coma.

It was like coming back from hell, the moment she opened her eyes, her entire brain was a mess.

Her back injury throbbed like crazy as she laid there.

Even a slight movement, made Freya in such pain that she broke out in a cold sweat.

She had experienced worse injuries during training, but this was on a whole other level of agony.

Those York Kingdom's hidden weapons were seriously no joke. If it had hit somewhere else, she might not have made it.

With face covered in sweat, Bradley watched Freya wake up and asked with concern, "What's wrong?"

She was hurting so bad, her teeth chattered as she spoke.

"Leonard, it's painful, really painful!"

Hearing that, Bradley felt such heartache that he almost felt suffocated.

He knew it must be very painful.

Freya hardly ever complained about pain. If she was hurting this bad now, it must have been unbearable.

He didn't dare to hug her, so he just gently held her hand, soothing her with soft words, "Hang in there. Once the wound heals, it won't sting anymore."

"But it feels like I'm on fire right now, I can't take it."

With a soft sob, tears streamed down her face uncontrollably.

She didn't get why she felt so fragile all of a sudden, just because she got married. She couldn't handle even a bit of pain.

Bradley panicked seeing her tears.

He replied, "I'll go get Ella, and if it's unbearable, we'll give you a painkiller shot."

He hurried off to get help.

Ella had just finished assisting Xavier with his medicine when he heard Freya had woken up, so she quickly came over.

At that moment, Freya was drenched in sweat from the agonizing pain.

It came in waves, followed by this itching feeling that made her feel like she was gonna combust.

Suddenly, she remembered that hidden weapon hitting her last time, and she froze in shock.

Wait ....

Was there also a poisonous One Leaf Needle on the hidden weapon that hit her?

Realizing this, she felt awful all over.

No wonder she was burning up and feeling chilly, even kind of parched.

After being unconscious for so many days, was it only now that the medicine was taking effect?

What is this strange thing? Is there a delayed reaction too?

When Ella walked in, she moved to let Ella check out the wound.

Freya clenched her lip and said, "Ella, you should go, you might not be able to cure me."

After that, she glanced at Bradley, tears welling up in her eyes.

Ella asked urgently, "If I can't cure you, then tell me what to do?"

"I ... I'm afraid I might have been poisoned by a One Leaf Needle on the dart."

Ella was briefly stunned to hear that.

The poisonous One Leaf Needle ....

A poison as strong as poppy flower.

"So, are you feeling all emotional about this situation?"

She shrugged.

This illness was something she couldn't fix for real.

The best doctor was up above.

Without saying much, she made a quick exit.

Bradley noticed the blush on the girl's cheeks, moist and vibrant, causing a ripple in his heart.

So, she was in agony because she had been poisoned by a One Leaf Needle on the dart, and she wanted it removed.

"Honey, I'm feeling off."

She tried to keep the pain under wraps, but her voice still came out soft.

She was sweating a lot, unable to bear it and started pushing away the thin blanket on top of her.

Bradley's throat tightened, but before he could do anything, Freya's arms wrapped around his neck.

She was totally out of it.

Remembering Quincy's condition before, she never thought she would end up like this.

Bradley was lit up by her touch, but he didn't dare move her.

She had just woken up, and her body was still weak.

If he did anything now...

He didn't know if she could handle it.

All he could do was try to calm her down, "Freya, Honey, lie back down and rest. You'll feel better."

I don't want to ...."

She shook her head like crazy, forgetting she was still hurt, and climbed out of bed, plopping down on his lap.

This alternating hot and cold feeling was driving her nuts.

Her vision was blurry, and she leaned in to give him a smooch.

"Honey."

Bradley melted at her soft, sweet voice.

When did she ever take the initiative to kiss him like this?

And even being so cute and playful.

He was unable to resist her in this state.

He even thought that if he didn't do anything tonight, he would be punished by fate.

He couldn't restrain himself any longer, holding her face tenderly as he pressed his lips against hers.

This subtle touch only made Freya feel worse.

She boldly kissed him back, even urging him to lie down with her.

But in the next moment, she winced in pain.

Their lying position led to contact with the wound, resulting the bandage red with fresh blood, staining the sheets too.

Bradley's face tensed, his brow furrowing.

He swiftly lifted her up, holding her close as he saw her pale, pained expression.

He knew that in such moments, he shouldn't have any doubts.

But her injury was severe, and acting rashly could make it worse.

"Freya, you have to tell me, is there any way to neutralize the poison from One Leaf Needle? It's not acceptable seeing you like this!"

His voice, despite its tenderness, sounded rough. He fought to keep himself steady.

Freya, overwhelmed with emotion, felt like she wasn't in control of her body anymore. It was his care that brought her back to reality.

"Even though I've studied acupuncture, I haven't found an antidote …."

Before she could finish, another wave of heat hit her, clouding her mind.

She was so uncomfortable, so distressed.

It felt like being trapped in a scorching desert.

Seeing her sweat, Bradley felt torn on the inside.

Yet, in the following moment, a small figure threw herself into his arms, causing the defenses he had carefully constructed to fall apart once again ....
