The dagger hovered dangerously close to her.
Freya immediately recognized it as the military dagger she had lost years ago. She hadn't expected it to end up in Invincible's possession.
"Where did you find this dagger?"
"I found it."
Freya gave a cold smirk. "Quite a coincidence that you stumbled upon it."
Years ago, during a mission, she lost the dagger in a confrontation, and it fell down a cliff.
She thought she'd never see it again, but now it was in Invincible's hands.
"It's mine now since I found it. You won't be getting it back."
Invincible felt the intimidating strength emanating from Freya. He was clearly holding the handle of the knife, but the blade was reversing its direction and finally pointed at his heart.
As the dagger was about to strike his heart, Invincible was startled and let it fall to the ground.
In that moment, a shadow passed by.
Freya played with the dagger. "If you found money with a name on it and gave it to the police, would they return it to you or to its rightful owner?"
Invincible's expression darkened.
He had exerted all his strength, yet Freya remained unfazed, which was terrifying.
Invincible knew that if he continued to fight like this, he would definitely die.
"I'll return the dagger. I don't want it anymore," he conceded.
"Good," Freya approached him, pressing the dagger against his neck. "Where are the people of Raven Pavilion?"
Since she arrived, no one else had appeared besides Invincible, which was extremely odd.
"I... I killed them," Invincible stammered.
"With your skills? Do you really think you could have killed them?"
Freya sneered, backing him into a corner with murderous intent in her eyes.
Invincible felt a sharp pain in his neck, the smell of blood filling his nostrils, and the intense pain causing him to break out in a cold sweat.
"Mystica, I know you're searching for the Heartless Kid. Let me go, and I'll tell you where he is," Invincible pleaded.
Hearing this, Freya frowned deeply.
She released Invincible and said sternly, "You better not be lying to me. Otherwise, I'll skin you alive and strip your bones bare right now."
Invincible trembled.
Mystica was every bit as fearsome as the rumors suggested.
"I've been unable to locate the Shadow Specter in the woods. However, if you manage to obtain the signal flare he devised, activating it will lure him out," he explained.
"What signal flare?"
"They're available at the Duke's mansion. By apprehending the Duke's two sons, you can coax out the Shadow Specter."
Invincible replied, a hint of cunning glinting in his eyes.
He and the Shadow Specter had a longstanding feud, even engaging in territorial disputes.
Unbeknownst to him, the rogue had retaliated by bombing his residence, escalating their conflict.
Previously, when the Duke's sons triggered the signal flare, the Shadow Specter responded promptly to the sound. Invincible had observed this from the shadows.
He couldn't confront Shadow Specter and couldn't defeat Mystica either.
It would be better to just let these two people create hatred and let him sit by and reap the benefits.
This plan to kill two birds with one stone is simply wonderful.
"Why do you reveal all this to me?"
Freya's gaze turned icy. She seized Invincible by the collar and tossed him out forcefully.
Invincible clutched his chest and tasted blood in his mouth.
He watched as Freya approached and hastily pleaded, "I just want to survive."
"Always the coward!"
Freya sneered as she advanced, delivering a stinging blow to his abdomen. "You hold a grudge against Shadow Specter and aim to manipulate me to deal with him, don't you?"
Invincible never expected that his thoughts would be so easily seen through.
He felt too guilty to speak.
The pressure under Freya's foot increased slightly as she bent down, the dagger in her hand pressed against his cheek.
"Where did I scratch your face last time?"
Her voice, cold and emotionless, seemed to come from the depths of hell.
Invincible was so frightened that his face turned pale and his eyes wide with fear.
"Please don't hurt me," he begged.
He had spent a fortune to get this face, and he didn't want to undergo cosmetic surgery again.
Meanwhile, the Queen, White Fox, and others were watching this scene in the monitoring room.
The Queen's eyes sparkled as she watched Freya. "Truly worthy of being Sally's disciple. Your skills have improved significantly. If I remember correctly, this Invincible is the second-ranked assassin on the dark web, right?"
"Yes, Your Majesty."
White Fox confirmed with a smile.
Although he ranked second in combat skills, the gap between him and the first was significant.
Her boss leader hadn't even used thirty percent of her strength, and yet she had already brought Invincible to his knees begging for mercy.
"Tell Mystica not to kill Invincible. I believe this boy still has some use."
Despite his inferior combat skills, it was mainly due to a lack of proper training.
As long as he is properly cultivated, Invincible can still become an outstanding talent.
"Your Majesty, this man is a menace. He must be killed."
White Fox asserted, not understanding the Queen's intentions. Invincible is an assassin who earns money by taking on missions to kill people.
Keeping someone like him alive would only spell trouble.
"I have a use for him. You may go."
"Very well."
White Fox reluctantly left.
Meanwhile, Invincible seized the opportunity to escape.
Freya toyed with the dagger in her hand and suddenly flicked it, the sharp blade flashing as it aimed directly at his forehead.
Invincible was so frightened that his legs gave out, and he collapsed on the ground as the blade whizzed past his ear.
A lock of his dark hair fell to the ground.
Invincible felt like he had just escaped the gate of hell.
If he hadn't dodged in time, the dagger would have surely split his skull open.
Mystica was truly terrifying.
"Tap, tap, tap."
Just then, footsteps approached from outside.
Invincible felt a glimmer of hope. Was someone coming to rescue him?
To his relief, White Fox barged in and addressed Freya, "Boss, this man cannot be killed."
"Oh? Why is that?"
Freya was surprised to hear White Fox speak up just as she was about to kill Invincible.
"Queen Sally said not to kill him. She sees some use in him, though I'm not sure what she has in mind."
Upon hearing this, Invincible breathed a heavy sigh of relief.
Did this mean he had been spared?
"Where is my master? Where is she?" Freya sheathed her dagger and asked coldly.
"She's in the monitoring room."
Upon hearing this, Freya understood.
While she was facing off against Invincible, the Raven Pavilion members had been watching from the monitoring room the whole time.
No wonder she hadn't seen anyone else.
She glanced down at Invincible coldly.
Raising his eyes to meet her sharp gaze, Invincible trembled in fright.
There was no trace of human emotion in her eyes.
Freya felt a bit helpless. Her master never played by the rules, so orchestrating this drama was probably her way of testing Freya's progress.
She ignored Invincible and turned around, heading towards the monitoring room.
Invincible surrendered, saying, "Mystica, I won't attempt to assassinate you again in the future. The assassination just now was ordered by the Queen."
