At that moment, Lisa returned.
Quickly, Lily tightened her grip on the packet of powder in her hand, pretending to casually deal with the loose thread.
"Are you alright?" Lily inquired.
"Yeah, I'm fine. The bleeding has stopped," Lisa returned to her post, assisting in inspecting the clothes. Then, as if recalling something, she remarked, "Lily, you've only just recovered. Why don't you take a break?"
"Okay, I'll go get some water,"
Lily said, feeling a bit parched due to her heightened nerves.
Lily left quickly, and Lisa stared at the clothes on the inspection table, her gaze deep.
Meanwhile, in the surveillance room.
Ella gestured towards the monitor. "Behold, she indeed sprinkled powder on the garments. I suspect this poison is rather potent. It may induce skin ulceration upon contact."
"Selena is quite a venomous woman, it's entirely plausible she'd resort to extreme measures," Freya remarked, then directed her attention to her. "Have the White Foxes arrived?"
"Yes, I received word not long ago confirming their arrival."
"In that case, arrange for this batch of garments to be returned. Let the White Foxes find a few individuals to purchase them. And what about the other merchandise you prepared?"
Ella shrugged. "Fear not, it's already been sent back to the store. We'll dispatch these regular clothes to the customers as usual. As for this batch of poisoned attire, we'll leave it to the White Foxes to handle."
"Very well,"
Freya nodded, rising from her seat. "I entrust this matter to you. I have other affairs to attend to."
"Understood, proceed with your tasks."
After Freya departed, rather than heading home directly, she made her way to Wolf Mountain.
During morning earlier, Shadow One arrived to report that Bradley had come directly to Wolf Mountain to confer with Gabriel, citing an urgent matter.
She suspected that Shadow One was also present.
The woman was too enigmatic, the animosity in her gaze was difficult to conceal.
Moreover, the scar on her neck unsettled Freya.
That day in the forest, she was attacked and managed to wound the assailant in return.
The location of the injury was identical to Shadow One's.
The critical issue was that both wounds were inflicted by a blade.
Shadow One claimed it was an accidental injury during training, but Freya couldn't shake the feeling that something was amiss. Training mishaps wouldn't result in neck wounds.
As she entered, a bodyguard acknowledged her with a nod. "Madam."
"Where's Bradley?"
"He's currently with Mr. Gabriel. Shall I escort you there?"
"No need."
Freya waved her hand dismissively and strolled inside.
Intermittent howls of wolves echoed from within, indicating that Bradley was training the wolf pack.
Having been here once before, she recalled the location.
Following her memory from the previous visit, she found the training ground and indeed spotted Bradley and Gabriel standing together.
And, of course, Shadow One stood nearby.
Freya called out to Bradley from a distance, causing the man who was speaking to turn his head and catch sight of her. In that instant, a slight curve formed at the corner of his mouth.
He approached her briskly, seizing her hand. "What brings you here?"
"Just wanted to see you."
His heart trembled at her words.
He pinched her nose affectionately and said in a low voice, "Wait for me. I'll finish up quickly, then we'll head home together."
"No rush, take your time chatting. I'll wander around on my own."
She hadn't come here to disrupt his work but had heard that there was a training room inside Wolf Mountain.
She wanted to verify what kind of training could injure Shadow One's neck.
"I'll accompany you."
"No need. I'm not a child who will get lost. If you're worried about me, let Shadow One come with me."
"Alright, Shadow One, accompany the madam."
"Yes, sir."
Shadow One respectfully nodded, then followed Freya as she departed.
The two of them circled around Wolf Mountain and eventually arrived at the door of the training room.
Freya paused her steps and glanced at her companion. "Do you train here every day?"
"Yes."
Shadow One narrowed her eyes, a hint of a strange glint flickering in them.
"Let's go in and take a look."
Freya said, then walked in.
It was a professional training room with various training equipment and a dedicated shooting range.
Several racks were placed on the side, neatly displaying various guns.
Freya approached and lightly touched each gun before taking out a G36 assault rifle, aiming at the target in front, and fired a shot.
The bullet shot out from the dark barrel, hitting the bullseye directly.
Seeing this, Shadow One's eyes were filled with astonishment.
She didn't expect Freya's marksmanship to be so precise.
No wonder she was the number one killer in the Dark Web, Mystica.
"It's your turn!"
Freya tossed the gun to her, motioning for her to take a shot.
"My shooting isn't great, I'd rather not embarrass myself in front of Madame."
"As the third-ranked assassin on the Dark Web, even if your shooting skills are mediocre, they won't be lacking. Shoot." Freya stepped back, leaning against the wall with a lazy demeanor as she observed.
Shadow One's expression was filled with surprise.
She belonged to the Dark Web, how could Freya know?
Had this woman investigated her?
She narrowed her eyes, clenching her fists tightly!
"As someone by Leonard Newman's side, naturally, I need to know everything about you. After all, this world is full of temptations. How do I know if you'll betray him and affect his plan for national restoration?"
Freya gazed steadily at her, arms crossed, in a relaxed posture.
Her words were spoken with a breezy nonchalance, as though discussing the day's weather.
"People all over the world may betray him, but I... I absolutely won't,"
Shadow One's tone was resolute.
Having stood by Leonard's side for so many years, she had sworn an unbreakable oath never to betray him.
Even if she couldn't become his woman, she would protect him for a lifetime!
"Do you like him?"
Freya smiled, her gaze piercingly sharp.
A woman's intuition is often spot-on, especially when Shadow One's animosity towards her runs so deep, making it impossible to ignore.
"Madame misunderstood. I only have unwavering loyalty and respect for Mr.Leonard, devoid of any romantic sentiments,"
Shadow One said respectfully, suppressing the hostility in her eyes.
"Well then, it seems I've misunderstood you!"
"I'm not sure what Madame misconstrued, but the young master has shown me great kindness. I am simply grateful and would never entertain any romantic notions about him."
Freya glanced at her, a slight curve forming on her lips as she chuckled softly. "That's for the best. I wouldn't want any woman to harbor improper thoughts about him. If I discover anyone attempting to get close to him using any means necessary, don't blame me for not being merciful."
Her words carried a stern warning.
Shadow One understood implicitly.
She lowered her gaze, a glint of sharpness flickering in her eyes.
Her fists clenched tightly, nails digging into her flesh, yet she felt no pain.
"Madame, rest assured, Leonard's heart belongs to you alone."
Freya paid little heed to the flattering words and turned to walk away.
She had just noticed that the training room was only a fraction of the facility. There was also a vast outdoor training ground.
Shadow One watched her departing figure, angrily grabbed the gun, and fired a shot at the target.
Due to her impatience, the shot only hit the third ring.
