Chapter 487 The Drama

Of course, winning the case would bring him a lot of money and make him the royal family's legal counsel. A job like this would open doors for him.

He absolutely could not lose this case!

"Then, please have the plaintiff's lawyer call the witnesses to the stand!" the judge signalled.

Soon, two bodyguards escorted Lily's 80-year-old mother-in-law and her elementary school-aged son to the court.

The mother-in-law had poor eyesight and leaned on a cane for support.

Lily's timid son, Sterling, clung nervously to his grandmother's hand.

"These two witnesses will testify to Freya's misdeeds."

Selena stepped forward, supporting Mrs. Zimmer. "Granny, stick to what I told you to say. Don't mention anything unnecessary. Once we succeed, I'll make sure you see your son," she whispered.

Mrs. Zimmer nodded. "Don't worry, Miss Selena, I won't say anything out of line."

After that, she quickly scanned the courtroom until she finally locked eyes with Ella.

The judge solemnly stated, "Since the witness is present, the defence lawyer may present their arguments."

Ella approached and looked skeptically at Selena, who appeared smug as if she had won.

That was what they wanted. The more triumphant Selena appeared, the more miserable she would cry later.

"Every single accusation made by the plaintiff is a blatant lie! We vehemently deny all of these baseless claims!"

Her powerful voice echoed through every corner of the courtroom.

The judge sternly stated, "This is the plaintiff's time to present their case. The defendant's side will remain silent."

Ella shrugged and retreated to her seat.

She'd like to see how this farce unfolds next!

The plaintiff's lawyer turned to Mrs. Zimmer and said, "I would like to ask you, who did Lily come into contact with before the incident?"

Mrs. Zimmer shook her head. "I'm not sure. Sterling and I were under house arrest before, and then Mrs. Lawson sent someone to rescue us and put us in a safe place. Not only did she take care of our needs, but she also sent many people to keep us safe. However, Lily has never come to see us. It's been almost a month since we last saw her."

Selena stood frozen in place upon hearing this.

She had told Mrs. Zimmer to blame Freya if the lawyer raised this question. She had no idea the old lady would speak the truth.

The plaintiff's lawyer also looked puzzled, turning to Selena.

"Granny, are you mistaken? It was Mrs. Lawson who kidnapped you, while I sent people to help you. Why are you saying the opposite?"

Mrs. Zimmer frowned fiercely. "I remember everything! You sent your men to kidnap us and even threatened me to lie. I will not be mistaken!"

The unexpected twist of events left everyone stunned.

Selena's expression changed like an emotional rollercoaster.

Freya quietly enjoyed the drama with a faint smile lingering on her lips.

She had long anticipated that Selena would target Lily's family, so she had Ella prepare everything in advance.

Initially, Mrs. Zimmer was very emotional and refused to see anyone.

Only after Ella explained the truth and presented evidence did Mrs. Zimmer trust them.

Using the same old trick, Mrs. Zimmer pretended to be bribed by Selena and then unexpectedly changed sides in court, catching Selena off guard.

Freya truly wanted to applaud Selena for her downtrodden look right now.

The plaintiff's lawyer felt uneasy as the trial went from bad to worse.

Sunny and others were unreachable, and then Mrs. Zimmer changed her testimony.

The tide was turning like a well-orchestrated conspiracy.

They seemed to be mere puppets, manipulated by invisible strings.

Seeing the chaos in the courtroom, the judge banged the gavel. "Silence! Please carefully consider your statements and witnesses. Do not provide false testimony, or you will be arrested for disrupting the court proceedings."

Startled by the arrest warrant, Mrs. Zimmer quickly pleaded, "Your Honor, everything I said is true. It was this woman who harmed our family. Please see through it and bring this criminal to justice."

"This ..."

The trial left the audience confused.

What act was this really singing?

Selena rose from her chair, clenching her fists but smiling. "Granny, you may have misidentified the person due to vision concerns. I've always helped you and considered Lily a sister. How can I hurt you?"

The audacity of her words was truly shameless.

Selena was the one who killed Lily, and yet she dared to claim that they were close friends.

Selena was so shameless and brazen that she could have taken off flying with her antics.

However, the judge began to hesitate after hearing that.

He also noticed Mrs. Zimmer's poor eyesight from her need for help since arriving. Adhering to principles of fairness and justice, he summoned a doctor to examine Mrs. Zimmer's vision.

Ultimately, it was confirmed that Mrs. Zimmer had a severe eye condition and primarily relied on sound to distinguish people.

Selena raised her eyebrows smugly, presenting photos of herself assisting Mrs. Zimmer. "Your Honor, I have evidence to prove that Mrs. Zimmer and Sterling have been under my care recently. As for Mrs. Zimmer, she promised to testify on my behalf in court but suddenly sided with the defendant. I believe everyone present can see through this situation."

After that, everyone hesitated again as to which side to take.

At this moment, a juror leaned close to the judge and whispered.

"We've got news from the royal family that Miss Lucy is also involved. They've instructed us to handle it carefully, or they'll step in and intervene."

The judge frowned deeply at Mr. Clark after hearing this.

Mr. Clark initiated this trial, but his status prevented him from directly suing the defendant. So, he delegated it to Selena.

Despite this, the judge still sought his opinion. "Mr. Clark, you initiated the legal action against Julia brand and provided the evidence of infringement. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this matter."

Mr. Clark scanned the courtroom and briefly focused on Selena before speaking up in a clear voice, "There are indeed many suspicious points in this case. When I had Julia's store products tested, harmful chemicals were found, but given the current situation, it seems that Julia's party may indeed be framed."
