In Zarovia, a woman with long, wavy hair sat in front of the mirror, carefully applying her makeup. She had a photoshoot that night for the promotion of the upcoming international fashion competition.
"Leah, here's the list of all the designers participating in this year's competition," her assistant said.
Leah arrogantly raised an eyebrow. "Read it out to me."
"The participating designers are Juniper Jones, Cindy Morgan, Wendy Harper..." the assistant began.
"Who are these people? Why have I never heard of them?" She asked with a slight frown on her face.
"Due to how attractive the prizes are this year, many designers, both well-known and obscure, are competing. Everyone wants a piece of the pie…"
Leah dismissively asked, "Who won the championship three years ago?"
"It was Julia. In second place was Selena, but she was recently involved in a case of assault and has been arrested," her assistant replied.
"An attempted murder?" Leah's red lips curved into a slight smile as interest shone in her eyes. "Tell me, who did she go after?"
The assistant explained, "Selena and Julia are arch-rivals. Selena tried to frame Julia to prevent her from participating in the competition, but Julia outsmarted her. Thus, Selena ended up in jail."
"Show me the file on Julia," Leah ordered, flipping her hair as she moved to the sofa.
Julia was the best designer in the world who made a name for herself at a young age. All her creations were considered masterpieces.
However, she kept a low profile and never showed her face, often having her assistant to attend award ceremonies on her behalf. Many of the rich and powerful wanted to hire her as their personal designer, but she always rejected them.
Leah was curious to see what kind of woman could be so talented yet so arrogant.
Soon, her assistant handed her the file.
Leah quickly scanned the document before her gaze finally landed on a photo of Freya. The face seemed familiar, but she could not quite place where she had seen it before. She intently stared at the photo. Still, no matter how hard she racked her brain, she could not remember where.
"Julia is not even twenty years old yet she has already achieved so much. Truly a rare talent! I heard the winning designs of the competition will be showcased internationally, and the finished products will be worn by famous models in the fashion show. Leah, you would be the perfect model for this show!" The assistant said in a flattering manner.
"Of course! I only work for major events like this. I don't bother with small-time gigs," Leah confidently replied.
The assistant continued to flatter her, saying, "Exactly! Who else could match your reputation? You're an international supermodel and extremely gorgeous. With the support of the Sheffield family, you'll definitely be the star of the show!"
Pleased by the praise, Lead proudly raised her head with a smug smile on her lips. "Let's not get carried away. They might think I'm unsuitable and refuse to invite me."
"How could they find you unsuitable? There's no model as excellent as you. Even if the organizers don't invite you, Mrs. Sheffield would instantly back you up if you tell her about it."
Leah blushed and shyly smiled. "You're such a sweet talker. I'm not part of the Sheffield family. Why would Mrs. Sheffield go out of her way for me?"
"You're not part of the Sheffield family now, but once you marry Agni, you'll be her daughter-in-law. Mrs. Sheffield really likes you. She'll definitely prioritize your affairs."
Leah's face lit up with happiness. "Oh, don't be nonsensical. Agni has been missing for a long time, and we aren't even engaged."
The Sheffield family was a renowned international real estate tycoon. As a famous model, she would frequently be invited to their launches. Over time, she had become familiar with Yolanda Sheffield.
Yolanda had always liked her, and even proposed that she married Agni. However, Agni went missing several years ago. Not even his family could find him.
The marriage between her and Agni had been delayed until now. No one knew when he would return.
Leah was just a stage name. Her real name was Jasmine Lawson. Through years of hard work, she had finally made a name for herself in the modeling industry.
While many men had pursued her, she never liked any of them. As a kid, she swore to marry into a rich and powerful family. Finally, she had her chance with the Sheffield family.
However, with Agni still missing, she was growing anxious. At 26 years old, time was running out for her. If Agni had refused to marry her when he returned, the prime of her life would have been wasted.
Thus, she needed a backup plan. If Agni refused, she should have another way forward.
It was rumored that the organizer of the design competition was a young, handsome, and wealthy man. She had to seize the opportunity to get close to him and win him over.
Leah glanced at Freya's photo once more. The more she looked, the more familiar the face seemed. It was as if she had known it from years ago. Who exactly was Julia? An uneasy feeling stirred in her. It was a feeling she had not felt since moving abroad.
...
Freya followed Bradley back to his villa in Solterra. As soon as they walked through the front gate, Ella hurried over.
"Freya, what's going on? Why are you back so late?" Ella asked.
Freya glanced at Bradley, signaling for him to go about his business. She then led Ella to her room.
"Well? Did you meet Felix? Who's more handsome, him or Bradley?" Ella eagerly asked.
Freya sighed. "Do you know who Felix is?"
Ella shook her head.
"Felix is Bradley," Freya revealed.
Ella's eyes widened in disbelief. "No way! Does Master know about this?"
Queen Sally had been scheming to match Freya with Felix because she did not like Bradley. If she found out that Bradley and Felix were the same person, things would get interesting!
Freya sighed again. "If she finds out, she will be furious! She won’t be able to handle the fact that she essentially slapped herself in the face!"
After all, at that time, Sally assured her that Felix was Warren's pride and joy, a disciple with outstanding credentials and impeccable conduct.
Now, it turned out that Felix, the disciple, who was highly accomplished in every aspect, was actually Bradley, the man Freya was already married to and the very man Master despised.
That was a real slap in the face.
"I won't mention this to Master. I'm really afraid she won't be able to bear it. After all, the man she despised has turned into the one she praised so highly. If anything happens to her due to her rage, I'll be the one in the wrong!" Freya exclaimed.
"Don't worry. I'll keep it a secret!" Ella swore.
"Alright, I’m counting on you. I’ll be treating Warren on Leiton Island for a while, so I won’t be coming back anytime soon."
"Warren?" Ella gasped in surprise upon hearing the name. "Isn't he already dead? Why does he need medical treatment?"
"He's not dead, just brain-dead. He has been recovering on Leiton Island. To avoid any unnecessary trouble, they proclaimed him dead to the public," Freya explained.
