Even though Freya was wealthy, she refused to pay compensation.
It was not just about the near collision. Something about the other woman's face made her extremely unsettled. There was an inexplicable sense of familiarity, yet she could not place where she had seen it before.
Upon realizing that the other party would not be easy to deal with, Leah stepped aside to make a phone call. She was at Solterra because she had a friend who was a royal princess. It was her birthday, and Leah had flown over to celebrate with her.
She never expected that a moment of distraction while making a call would lead her to almost cause a major accident by crossing a solid line.
Freya tried to recall where she had seen Leah's face before, but nothing came to mind. Just then, Matthew poked his head out of the car and shouted, "Mommy, we're going to be late!"
Freya checked her phone and realized she had already wasted 20 minutes. She scowled, not wanting to prolong this encounter.
She quickly called Ella to come and handle the situation.
As Leah ended her call and walked back towards her, Freya spoke up, saying, "My assistant is on the way. You can discuss this matter with her. Here’s her contact information. I have something urgent to attend to, so I’ll be leaving now."
As Freya turned to go back to her car, Leah stepped in front of her, blocking her way. "Wait! No one is leaving until this is resolved. My friend is also on her way."
Leah had called Lucy. With Lucy's involvement, there was no way this woman would do anything no matter how powerful she actually was. After all, she would not dare to oppose the royal family.
Freya glanced at the time. There was only 10 minutes left before the event started.
In a cold tone, she asked, "When will your friend arrive?"
"She should be here soon. She’s nearby."
"Please ask her to hurry. I don’t have time to waste!"
This was Freya’s first time attending an event at Matthew's kindergarten. She was determined not to make Matthew late.
Fortunately, Ella was nearby and quickly rushed over. "Freya, you and Matthew go ahead in my car. I'll handle things here."
Freya made an OK gesture and hurriedly got Matthew out of the car. They then left quickly in Ella's vehicle.
At the very last minute, the car screeched to a stop at the entrance of the kindergarten. Freya rushed in with Matthew in her arms.
Bradley was already there. When he saw Freya hurry in, he asked, "What happened? Why are you so late?"
"I got caught in an accident on the road. The other driver was reckless yet tried to extort money from me for repairs. Arguing with her delayed me by quite a bit."
Bradley furrowed his brows upon hearing that. He quickly pulled her and Matthew into his arms. "Are you both okay?"
The worry audible in his deep voice touched Freya’s heart. She pursed her lips and looked up at him. "I’m fine. I avoided the collision in time, but Matthew was scared. Everything else is okay."
Matthew chimed in, saying, "Mommy’s driving was awesome! All I knew was the car swerved; then I heard a bang as that mean lady crashed into the fence. Mommy’s car was fine though, and so were we!"
The little one’s face was full of pride as he spoke.
Bradley sighed in relief. "That’s good to hear."
Freya playfully stuck out her tongue and said, "Alright, the event is about to start. Let’s hurry to the field."
She put Matthew down, and the three of them walked hand-in-hand toward the field.
The event had already begun, with the homeroom teacher leading the children to the field to stand ready. It was a fall sports meet designed for parent-child bonding.
After they found Matthew’s class and checked in, they joined the back of the line. Many parents were stunned when they saw Matthew’s parents. He was handsome, and she was beautiful. Together, they were a striking sight on the field.
A female classmate walked up to Matthew and greeted him, saying, "Hi, Matthew. Are these your parents?"
Matthew proudly held his head high. "Yes!"
The girl could not take her eyes off Bradley and was even drooling.
"Hey, Clara, wipe your drool!" Matthew teasingly said.
His dad was handsome, but he was good-looking too!
Clara Mason, the most beautiful girl in the class, was someone Matthew really liked. However, Clara disliked him for being a kid with no parents. Hence, he had promised her that his parents would definitely be there for the fall sports meet. That made her very curious about what his parents looked like. She did not expect them to be so stunning!
Clara wiped the drool from her mouth and shyly said to Matthew, "Okay, I promise to be your friend!" She said, reaching out to hold his hand.
Matthew blushed.
The sight of the two kids made Freya lean close to Bradley and whisper, "Honey, I think we’ve got some puppy love going on here. Look at how tightly they’re holding hands. It's like Matthew is afraid Clara might run away!"
Bradley held her hand and said, "He’s just like me. After all, who wouldn’t want such a beautiful little lady? Everyone likes her, so if we’re not careful, the girl might get taken away!"
Freya chuckled in exasperation. Who would dare to abduct a woman like her? Besides, if she did not want to go, who could take her away?
As they laughed, the opening ceremony began. The teachers danced on stage, followed by the principal's speech. After about half an hour, the fall sports meet had officially started!
The event was all about parent-child bonding. Of course, the activities had to be signed up for in advance.
When Matthew knew that both of his parents were coming, he signed up for everything!
The first event was about physical training where the parents would hold a stick steady while the child climbed on it. Then, the parents had to carry the child to the finish line. The course was two laps, and the fastest parents would win.
For Bradley and Freya, this was a breeze. With perfect coordination, they won first place with a time of 35 seconds. The other parents, many of whom were sports enthusiasts, were amazed by their speed. While they were still on their first lap, Bradley and Freya were already finishing the second lap. It just was not normal!
Everyone started speculating about their identities since Matthew’s background had been kept confidential when he first enrolled. Bradley and Freya rarely appeared in public too, so no one knew who they were.
Full of excitement, Clara said to Matthew, "Your dad is really handsome!"
"What about my mom?" Matthew asked, feeling a little jealous that she kept praising his dad.
"Your mom is also very beautiful!" Clara replied.
Matthew beamed with pride, holding his head up high. His parents were amazing, and he could not be prouder of them.
The second race was a relay race. The fathers had to go first, and then pass the baton to the mothers. The children were the last to go.
