Chapter 944 Kane

Freya’s heart ached when she saw the man shed tears. Without hesitation, she threw herself into his arms.

"Don't worry, I'm much better now."

Although the poison had already spread throughout his body, for the time being, acupuncture could still control the condition, proving that it wasn't too serious yet.

For them now, the priority was to find Belle as quickly as possible.

Even if they couldn't get the antidote, knowing the components of the poison, she could still treat herself accordingly.

She raised her hand and gently wiped away the tears from the man's eyes, softly saying, "Silly, you are Leonard, the most powerful figure in the S organization. Men like you should only make others cry, how can you shed tears."

The man held her small hand, placed it on his lips and kissed it, "Be good, have a rest, you need to rest more now."

"No, wasn't it Dr. Hawke who called just now, what's the situation with Ella?"

Although her consciousness was hazy, she still heard the sound of the phone ringing.

Bradley nodded and helped her lie down together before saying, "Ella has already passed the danger period. Xavier briefly fell into a coma due to excessive fatigue, but they are both safe and sound. As for Hawke, there is also good news that a special medicine has been developed to quickly repair Xavier's appearance."

"That's really great!" Freya exclaimed excitedly upon hearing the news. "As long as there is a special medicine, Xavier won't have to endure the pain of surgery, and Ella's face can be saved."

Originally, she was still feeling sorry for Ella, fearing that he would have to go down the same path as Xavier. Now with the special medicine, Everyone is moving in the right direction. When both Ella and Xavier have fully recovered, their good days will also come.

"However..." Bradley paused for a moment and continued, "The special medicine has just been developed and has not yet undergoing clinical trials. It may take some time before it can be used."

Freya nodded understandingly. As a medical researcher, she naturally understood this. After a successful study, it will inevitably require numerous clinical trials before it can be truly used on patients and minimize side effects.

"No problem, once the special medicine is out, the clinical trials won't take too long.

"If I were at headquarters, maybe I could help, but now..."

Freya thought about her own physical condition, her fingers uncontrollably clutching the bedsheet.

Bradley saw her powerlessness and hugged her tightly, "Don't worry, Hawke is enough to handle it."

Of course, she believed in Hawke's abilities. From the surgery they collaborated on, it was clear that his medical skills were superb, and he would surely surprise her.

But Ella...

If she woke up and saw herself, how could she ever accept it?

Three days later.

Ella woke up from unconsciousness."

The pungent smell of disinfectant filled the air as she opened her eyes and saw a blur, only to see a large expanse of white in front of her.

"Are you awake?" a magnetic male voice sounded in her ears.

Slowly turning her head towards the source of the sound, Ella locked eyes with a masked face, her pupils narrowing instantly.

"Who are you?" Her voice was hoarse from being unconscious for so long.

Xavier met her cold gaze, feeling his heart tighten as if squeezed by a hand, the pain suffocating him.

In order to avoid being recognized by her, he specifically wore a mask and used a voice changer, as he didn't have the courage to truly face her just yet.

"I'm Kane," he casually mentioned a name, getting up and walking towards the water dispenser, pouring a glass of water and handing it to her. "Drink, it will soothe your throat."

Ella was indeed thirsty and took the cup of water and drank it eagerly.

Xavier smiled at her, "Would you like more?"

Even though they couldn't meet candidly, being able to accompany her in this way was his greatest satisfaction.

Ella nodded, and the man went to get another cup.

After drinking three cups in a row, Ella felt much better in her throat, and even her voice sounded clearer.

"Kane? Can you tell me where we are?"

Everyone here seemed very unfamiliar to her, but she was naturally familiar with the hospital environment.

Xavier placed the cup of water to the side, his soothing voice comfortable, "Headquarters medical room, the young master brought you here."

Headquarters medical room?

Realizing that this was the territory of Bradley's power, Ella's rising guard was instantly dispelled.

She lifted her hand, slowly approaching her face, when suddenly an ugly large hand reached out and grabbed her wrist directly.

"Don't touch," a warm sensation overwhelmed her, causing Ella to stiffen, her gaze unconsciously falling on the man's hand.

Seeing the scars covering his exposed skin, she instinctively withdrew her hand.

Xavier felt a slight sense of disappointment.

So, even if he appeared in front of her in his true form, would she still be afraid and unable to accept it?

However, the reality was not as she had imagined; Ella was simply not used to physical contact, not meaning any rejection.

"Sorry, I was too abrupt!"

Xavier withdrew his trembling hand, his eyes under the mask clouded with tears, his heart heavy with pain.

Ella's hand finally reached her face, only touching a thick layer of gauze.

Even if she can't touch her own face, she can clearly feel the pain.

In the past, One used a dagger to slash her face, full of destructive hatred, completely wanting to kill her.

If it weren't for Bradley's timely appearance, she might have died in that secret room.

Thinking of One, Ella's fist clenched silently, her eyes filled with angry hatred.

She turned to the man again, her voice colder, "Bring me a mirror."

Even though she knew her face was ruined, she still wanted to see what it looked like.

Xavier restrained his emotions, saying, "Don't look."

Despite the other's refusal, Ella tried to get up forcibly, and Xavier quickly stopped her, "Alright, I'll get it."

Soon, he brought a mirror and handed it to Ella. When she saw her face in the mirror, Ella's pupils contracted sharply twice.

"Don't worry, Hawke is highly skilled in medicine and can definitely repair your face."

Worried that she couldn't bear it, Xavier spoke out to comfort her.

The scar from a knife wound can be healed, but his trauma is of a different nature.

Although it takes time, the chances of recovery are high.

Ella put down the mirror, his eyes calm and emotionless, showing no signs of any feelings.

Before he knew her, Xavier may not have cared much, but after getting to know this woman better, Xavier understood better than anyone else that the calmer she appeared, the more pain she was actually bearing inside that others couldn't fathom.

"Lo.."

Just as he reached out to touch her head, he remembered her earlier rejection and withdrew his hand.

Ella looked deeply at the man. Although he wore a mask and his voice was different, for some reason, when he just said her name, a familiar image suddenly flashed through her mind.
