5 YEARS LATER

" you've always been bad luck , you don't do anything right . see what you have done !" Ken shouted pulling 5 years old Kate's hair and dragging her to see the injury she had caused on her twin brother's leg.

" it was a mistake , Father " Kate cried.

" Father , stop hurting Kate . I'm not severely injured" Nate begged his Father as tears streamed down his cheeks .

" shut up , what do you know ?!"Ken barked at Nate " you are the only heir I have , you are not supposed to have a single scratch on you " he turned back and looked at Kate " and you, I get that you are jealous of your brother but that doesn't mean you should hurt him . I'll teach you a lesson . "

Ken smacked Kate's cheeks and pushed her against the wall . He beat her until she no longer begged.

He then turned to Nate and said " come here son, let me dress your wound "

Few hours later , when Gina got back home from work , she went to her twins room to hug her kids when Nate ran to her and cried " mom "

startled, Gina dropped her bags on the floor and held him " what happened? are you hurt?"

Nate shaked his head" dad.....dad..."

" what happened honey ?"

Nate took his Mom by his hand and took her to Kate .

Gina screamed as she saw bruises all over her daughter .

Kate , who was sleeping woke up at the scream

.When she saw her mother , she smiled" mom, you are back ?"

she stood up to hug her mum but winced in pain as her body hurt " sorry, mom. I can't meet you "

With shaking hands , Gina ran to her daughter and hugged her " it's okay , Kate . you can cry "

" if I cry that would make dad angry"

Gina refrained from Kate and said " it's mom that's here , you can cry "

Seeing her mom, Kate's eyes welled up In tears " it's hurts so much , mom"

Gina hugged her daughter once more and then turned to Nate " where's dad?"

" outside "

she turned back to face Kate " mom would be back okay ".

" don't go , mom. what if....dad hits you too"

Gina was shocked to hear her daughter say that but she decided to give her assurance"it's okay , dad won't hit me "

Gina left her kids room and actually prayed that her husband won't hit her.

When she went outside , she didn't see Ken immediately so she called out to him

" honey , I'm home "

Ken came out from behind a flower bed and smiled " honey, what took you so long ?"

" what were you doing there ?"

" ah, just planting more flowers , I missed you"

Ken moved to hug his wife but Gina backed away.

Ken was startled by that gesture " honey , what's wrong?"

" what's wrong?" Gina scoffed " you ask me that after what you did to our child?"

" ah, you mean that bad luck ?"

" badluck ?!"

" didn't you ever find it suspicious how it was when you had a baby that I lost my job? it's because of that badluck!"

" oh , cut the crap Ken , you are just looking for someone to blame your misfortunes on .if that was the case then both of them are badluck!. please I beg of you , stop hurting Kate just because she's a girl .if you can't live with her , fine. I'll take her away with me and you can live with Nate "

" what did you say ?"

" you heard me . Hurt Kate one more time , honey and you will see what I'm truly capable of "
