Chapter FOUR

As the vehicle kept moving on a slow speed because of the traffic jam, all Diana could hear was the unknown slow song playing in the car which had suddenly become annoying because the uber driver combined it with his murmurings. She didn't exactly get why this man was fighting himself because of the traffic jam. She wondered if he was new to Lagos.

'Madam, e be like say you go cancel this trip o. I no dey go again," the uber driver finally said aloud. The traffic jam was not her fault, but because she needed to get to her destination quickly, she pleaded with the uber driver to exercise patience. She looked at her phone, and saw that she was already late and she silently prayed in heart that the cars will start moving quickly. God answered her prayer quickly and the cars started moving immediately and she heaved a sigh of relief.

As the car gradually approached the hotel, Diana's phone buzzed and it was another text message from Anthony. He wanted to know why she was not at the hotel yet. She decided not to reply since she was almost there. Her phone rang as soon as she stepped down from the vehicle. Lisa's mischievous smiling face lay fat on her screen. She simply ignored the call and kept on walking. Lisa kept on calling like someone who was in danger, so she answered the call only to find out that Lisa called because of food. She was in her apartment, and couldn't find food in the kitchen. She sighed loudly and asked Lisa over the phone 'How did we end up as friends, again?" Lisa laughed so hard at this rhetorical question. After complaining about the food, she then asked, 'By the way, where are you?" Diana almost did not want to disclose her whereabouts to her friend, until the impatient Lisa got a clue from her silence and said, 'Have you gone to see him again? Knowing that a fresh round of scolding would follow this question, Diana quickly said, 'I'll see you when I get back. I love you." Before the line went flat, Lisa shouted, 'Keep your location on, madam."

Ever since Diana disclosed her relationship with Anthony to her, Lisa made it her point of duty to remind her to disentangle herself from that affair. After Anthony's wedding the previous week, Lisa had warned her sternly not to have anything to do with him since he was now a married man. Lisa said that the universe which was kind enough to let her go in the past may not overlook her sins again if she decides to continue having an affair with a married man.

Well, it was not like she had intentions of sleeping with him, today. She was only going to find out why he requested to see her. Diana walked into the hotel lounge, looking around, hoping to find Anthony. She took an empty seat, and a smiling hotel staff walked up to her. She had a smiling picture of Diana and Anthony with a red rose in her hands. Diana was so expectant. She could not wait to see the surprise that Anthony had prepared for her. She took the rose, followed the staff upstairs to a room. The door was slightly open, and she walked into the beautifully decorated room. A sound was coming from the bathroom and Diana assumed that Anthony was having a quick bath. So, she sat down and picked up a small note which read, 'I missed you terribly. I carefully poured out the drink for you, hoping that you will think of me as you drink." Anthony was definitely up to something cute today and she was ready for it. She called his name and did not pay attention to the reply before she gulped down the contents in the wine glass.
