Chapter 5

BRIELLE

In the hallway, I was mopping the floor as ordered by Argon.

It was one of the hardest and most nerve-wracking places in the mansion to clean.

He gave me the task of mopping and not leaving a single stain, threatening to punish me if he found any dirt.

The floor was decorated with brown tiles, making me wonder how he planned to tell whether it was dirty or not.

While cleaning, I heard laughter coming from behind. I stopped to see who it was, only to find Estelle and her father, Alpha Deron, entering the mansion.

Alpha Deron, the Alpha of the Red Wood pack and a wealthy businessman, was laughing as he spoke, holding his daughter by the arm.

“I’m so happy for you, my daughter. Finally, you’ll be with the man you’ve always wanted,” he said joyfully to his daughter.

Estelle blushed with happiness, thanking her father for his words.

“When are you two getting married?”

“Father, relax! You really can’t wait, huh?” Estelle laughed.

“I’m just so excited, darling. My daughter is marrying her true mate. I want the whole world to see it with their own eyes,” he declared his joy, making his daughter laugh at him.

When they both saw me cleaning, their mood changed.

They looked disgusted.

“Isn’t that the empty vessel that Argon said he would divorce?” whispered Alpha Deron to his daughter.

“Yes, she’s the one.”

“Why is she still here? Didn’t Argon already kick her out?” They whispered to each other, not knowing that I could hear them.

I acted as though I was working, listening to their conversations while they talked.

“She begged Argon to let her stay for three months to fulfill the last request of the deceased Alpha. Now she’s a servant,” Estelle laughed.

Alpha Deron laughed along with his daughter, mocking me, “A useless woman. Thank goodness she lost that baby. Who knows what problems she might bring for you and your husband.”

“Thank goodness indeed,” Estelle agreed.

Hearing what they said made me grip the mop tightly. I could feel Bane growling inside me, wanting to come out and give those two a mark they'll never forget.

But not now.

“Welcome!” Argon’s voice was heard.

I had to act like I didn’t see him coming, but still continued working.

“Welcome, Alpha Deron. It’s a pleasure to welcome you here.”

“Same here, my future son-in-law.”

They shook hands happily.

Argon escorted Estelle and Alpha Deron to the living room, after first asserting his dominance over me.

“If I come back and find you still cleaning this spot, you’ll regret it,” he said angrily, showing off to Alpha Deron.

And this made the old man happy.

He even ordered drinks to be prepared for his guests, which I obeyed.

When I entered the living room with the juice, I found them laughing and talking about wedding plans.

“I hope my daughter still has time for her career. You know she’s a supermodel, her fans must want to see her on the runway after she gets married,” Alpha Deron asked Argon.

Argon laughed and reassured Alpha Deron that he would let Estelle continue her career.

“She’s a model. I can’t stop her dream. She’s loved by everyone,” he said, praising Estelle.

Estelle blushed, hiding in her father’s embrace.

“That’s wonderful. I can’t wait for you two to get married. When two great Alphas unite, their power is unstoppable.”

Alpha Deron and Argon laughed together.

I came in with the drinks, approaching their seat to serve them.

Just as I was about to hand the juice to Alpha Deron, something knocked my foot, causing the entire drink to spill on him!

The old man yelled angrily, trying to wipe the juice off his body.

I was shocked to see him soaking, before checking my foot to see what caused it. Then I realized it was Estelle’s leg that made me trip. She had purposely placed her foot so I would fall!

Her eyes gleamed with excitement, immediately taking on the role of a caring daughter.

“Father!” she yelled.

“Alpha Deron!” Argon panicked, standing and trying to help him.

But Deron didn’t allow it. He swatted Argon’s hand away, yelling, “It’s all over me! Look at my body!”

“Alpha Deron, I’m so sorry,” Argon kept apologizing.

The old man’s gaze turned to me, making me look at him with fear.

“It wasn’t me. I didn’t…”

“Silence! You shameless woman!” he shouted, refusing to let me speak in my defense.

Since he wouldn't lower his voice, I just lowered my head, feeling annoyed.

“I don’t see why you’re still keeping this woman, Alpha Argon! How can you make my daughter happy with this woman around you?!” He raged at Argon, storming out of the room angrily.

Estelle gave a fake cry, following her father out.

“Alpha Deron, please!” Argon tried to chase after them, but they were already gone.

Suddenly, he came up to me angrily and grabbed me by the arm!

“Argon, I didn’t do anything. I…”

WHAM! Argon’s hand landed on my cheek with a hard slap, making me fall to the ground.

As soon as I fell face down, I felt my eyes change and my body shiver. My gaze went to my hand, seeing my nails starting to grow longer.

"Bane!" I called her name inwardly, sensing her anger.

“Is this why you chose to stay? You want to ruin my wedding before the big day, huh?!” Argon screamed.

He kept yelling while I tried to control my wolf. She was angry and wanted to come out.

“Let me out, Brielle!”

“Bane,” I growled, struggling to hold her back. "This isn't part of the plan. If you take this step, we might end up ruining everything!"

After some struggle, I managed to keep her contained. She finally calmed down, listening to my voice.

“Guards!” Argon shouted.

Two guards came to answer his call. “Yes, Alpha?”

“Take her to her room and lock her up! She won’t be given food or water until she learns her lesson. Take her out of my sight!” He handed down my punishment.

Without delay, the guards pulled me off the floor and dragged me away like a criminal.
