As I gently pulled the blanket over Aurora, her chest rose and fell in a steady rhythm, the exhaustion evident on her pale face.

"Rest well," I murmured, brushing a stray strand of hair from her forehead before stepping back and quietly leaving the room. The soft click of the door closing behind me felt like sealing a promise to keep her safe.
