That word just kept ringing inside my tired head. I could not go back there and face the shame that I knew would be waiting for me. I had killed my beta, my best friend and been badly betrayed. The pack would see me as weak and not strong anymore for the alpha role. I did not want to be challenged for the role that belonged to me.
