Alpha Irvin noticed my bewildered reaction to his question and returned to his seat. 

He continued, “All the progress I had hoped for, my pack members, would have been lost. You know, Alpha Dane, what my father was like. In his time, the Red Moon pack resembled the dark ages. And I hated the way he ruled the pack. I wanted change and so when I took over, I brought about that change. You were my ideal, and I learned a lot from you.”
