Zoie stirred and rolled over to her side. She was mumbling incoherently, dreaming some weird dream about running through a cornfield as she was in a deep sleep. She flapped her arm to the side and heard a loud thud. Zoie jerked her eyes open and realized she was in her bed. She had slammed her hand on something hard and it flinched in response.
