Alexander stood in the spacious foyer of Amanda Brown's European villa.

Pup toys were scattered across the polished hardwood floors. A collection of colorful building blocks sat abandoned near the grand staircase. Small shoes lined up by the door. A tiny jacket hung on a hook that had been lowered specifically for a child's height.
