Hearing me say I was hungry, Alexander instantly woke up. He sat up and began dressing with quick, efficient movements.

His face showed what appeared to be genuine apology. "I'm sorry, I overslept and forgot you haven't eaten yet."

He buttoned his crisp white shirt, pulled up his black trousers, and fastened his leather belt. Then he smiled and reached out to pinch my stern little face.
