I looked back every three steps as Marcus pulled me toward his ship. Alexander was still kneeling there on the shore, his eyes red and filled with tears.

Blood flowed endlessly from his leg where the silver dart had struck. The sight made my heart ache so much I could barely breathe.

It turned out that even after four years, seeing him injured still made me feel awful. I desperately wanted to go over and stop his bleeding.
