The tension inside the luxury sedan was thick enough to choke on. Alexander sat in the back, his injured leg stiffly extended, while a soft, sobbing little dumpling lay sprawled across his lap.

Little Ava’s eyes, so painfully similar to Olivia’s, were swollen and red. She gripped the lapel of Alexander’s expensive suit with a tiny fist, sniffing loudly. "Handsome Uncle, where are we going? Where is Mommy? You said you’d take me to Mommy."
