CHAPTER 76 His shoulder

  Chester's POV

"I lost the connection." Niyol said in a broken voice and plopped to the ground.

I was shocked at his statement. Why did this have to happen? I remembered the happiness on his face when he found out that she had shifted to her wolf form. It was the first time since her kidnap that I saw that kind of vibe and happiness from Niyol but now it was all shattered to pieces.

"Niyol, what happened?" Laci asked. Her voice was already breaking and I could sense that she was scared about what her brother would say next.

"I was so close to finding her. I was so close!" Niyol snapped. "Why did she shift back? What are they doing to her?" Niyol yelled.

"He lost the connection? But how?" Laci asked. She was already tearing up. I held her and made her sit on the chair before returning to hold the Alpha.

"I'm sure there is another way we can look for her." I tried my best to comfort him even though my brain was blank at the moment.

I couldn't think of anything in this hopeless situation. I could imagine how hurt he was. He was finally happy about her shifting but now, he looked dejected.

Niyol growled and kicked the table in the room, sending it flying to the ground. The table broke into two and I held him.

"Destroying things won't help, Niyol. Let us look for another way out. Please, stand up." I pleaded.

"Don't I deserve to be happy? Was I born to suffer? First, it was Erika. She left me without saying goodbye. Now I thought I would finally be happy because of Koko, those scumbags took her away from me and now that I thought I was going to find her, this happened. I'll kill them all!" He growled angrily, shaking the palace.

  Julianna ran in.

  "What is happening?" She asked.

"Niyol almost found out Koko's location but he lost connection with her again." I answered.

"How was he able to do that?" She asked with furrowed eyebrows.

"Well, we were told that if Koko shifted, Niyol would be able to connect with her wolf and find her. She shifted to her wolf, but Niyol couldn't find her before she shifted back to her body." I explained and helped Niyol up then made him sit on the bed.

"That is so bad. Does that mean they are doing something to her?" Julianna asked.

"I am not sure about that," I answered.

"Why would they make her shift back? Don't they know how much it hurts? I swear I'll kill them all." Niyol muttered under his breath, but it was loud enough for us to hear.

"They won't be spared for this! I was finally happy that Koko would be found but they just had to trick us this way!" Laci snapped.

Julianna went to meet her and held her as well. "They won't go unpunished. I won't relent until everything is brought under control." Julianna said.

I sighed and faced Niyol. "What do we do about the warriors?" I asked Niyol.

  "Just dismiss them," he answered.

I sighed and left the room.

"Wait up!" I heard Julianna's voice and halted.

"Aren't you supposed to be in there with them?" I asked her.

"Yeah but let's say I am using this opportunity to extract information from you." She said and I rolled my eyes.

"Can't you see that there is a serious issue on ground?" I asked her.

"I am here because of that same issue." She said, looking at her fingers.

I sighed and faced her. "So, what do you want to know?" I asked.

"You know how correct my instincts are at all times but I need to confirm something from you first."

  "Okay,"

"How well do you know Scarlett?" She asked.

Well... That question just came out of the blue.

"I know she is your crush and all_"

"Can you not bring that up?" I cut her off.

"Fine. Answer my question quickly then " She pouted.

"Scarlett is a nice person. She is beautiful and respectful. I've known her for a while now and have noticed nothing suspicious about her." I answered sincerely.

"Really?" She looked at me with narrowed eyes.

  "Yes" I nodded.

"But what if I tell you that she is involved in Koko's kidnap?" Julianna asked.

I paused for a while and laughed. "Scarlett can not be responsible for Koko's kidnap. She and Koko hardly see each other. Scarlett won't have the heart to do something like that." I said.

"People aren't always what you think, you know. You are a beta. Don't trust people so easily, not even your close friends" She said and walked away.

I stood, waiting for what she said to sink into my head. I didn't think Scarlet would have the guts to do something like that?

Even though she is interested in the Alpha, I don't think... or could that be why she acted a bit strange around Julianna? Could Julianna have confronted her? I just hoped all these cases were settled soon so Koko will return and we could all have a rest of mind.

I dismissed the guards and returned to the room to meet Niyol. Julianna was trying to calm Laci down while Niyol was disappointed. I could feel and understand his feelings. It wasn't easy to have hope and it comes shattering to the ground. I sighed and patted his shoulder.
