Angels POV
The moment Aunt Marie fell to the ground, Star stirred in my head and told me what to do. Placing my hands on either side of her head and clearing my mind like she said, I was able to tap into Aunt Maires bond to Uncle Nick.
"Use the pain she feels as a beacon. Let it guide you to where we need to be" Star told me.
Following her every instruction, I could feel myself being pulled along by feelings of anger and pain. It was as if I was standing on an escalator and when I reached the end, I saw everything. I saw Uncle Nick cuffed to a chair, silver cuffs restraining him and his wolf. An open wound on the crown of his head leaking down his face as his head tilted forwards. There was a man in the corner of the room, at first he was standing in the shadows, so I was unable to identify him. It was during their conversation I realized it was Jason that was responsible. He had forced this man to aid him in his sick and twisted revenge fantasy, a game that Uncle Nick had now become an unwilling participant. As I watched Jason enter the room an argument broke out between the pair resulting in Uncle Nick falling victim to a silver whip. As he fell unconscious, I felt myself being pulled back to my own surroundings.
After describing the man in the shadows to the best of my ability my dad knew who it was. Wayne, he said before barging out of Jakes office.
"How on earth did you know all that Angel" Benson asked me while I remained seated on the floor next to Aunt Marie.
"I honestly don't know. Star told me what to do. It was weird, I could literally feel the bond between them, and it took me to where he was" I told everyone.
"Perhaps it's another of your gifts, one of which is definitely coming in handy" I looked up at Jake who seemed deep in thought.
After escorting Aunt Marie to a guest room so she could rest, I headed back to Jakes office only to find him in the middle of a phone call. Quietly sliding into the chair across from him, I waited patiently for him to finish. Turns out he was speaking with Elder Tom. Jake had informed him about Uncle Nick and Wayne's predicament. He told him of how I was able to locate him and his attacker due to my newly discovered gift. Elder Tom told Jake that after my father had snapped Crystal's neck during her trial at the embassy, he officially challenged Jason for the position of Alpha King. A position that rightfully belonged to my father and knowing he wouldn't win instead of accepting the challenge Jason scarpered. Elder Tom went on to say that they already checked he wasn't hiding out at the kingdom after running away from the challenge but that there was no trace of him there. Clearly Jason knew it would be the first place they would check so he didn't return there until later.
Jake and I decided that we shouldn't tell anyone else within the pack about my new gift. We knew that if he had Wayne on his side, for the moment at least, we didn't want to chance the two unidentified wolves sending word back to Jason. If this was to happen, we would lose the advantage we currently had.
"Have you tried to reach your dad, I know he wants to take back his position as Alpha King and to rescue Nick, but if he rushes in there without planning an extraction or failsafe plan, I'm worried that Jason will get the drop on him. I don't want to say it babe, but he may not survive a second time"
"I know. But he's a grown arse man, he has a power of his own granted it may not be as powerful as mine once fully developed, but I have a feeling he will be ok. Besides whether he rushes in or not let's face it Jason isn't likely to fight fair is he?"
Marie's POV
How could his happen, Nick was well trained. He had been chief commander of the Kingdom's Royal Pack before being sworn in as Vanessas Gamma. Had we become too comfortable in our surroundings, is that why he let his guard down?
I had all these questions in my head and not a single answer to them. The only thing I knew was that he was hurt. I could feel his pain through our mate bond but when Angel connected with our bond, I wasn't sure how, but I was able to see exactly what she saw. The moment I took in Nicks appearance my blood boiled and my wolf growled in my head. It took more energy than I had to stop Violet forcing us to shift. It was definitely true when people say red heads have a fiery temper, but my Violet her temper was much, much worse than my own. At this moment in time all she wanted to do was to take off and rescue her mate. She was able to feel Hazes pain just as I could Nicks, the trouble with that however is that she would most likely be running into a trap. It was no secret that I was one of the best warriors in William's wolf army, but that meant nothing now. All the training we had done wouldn't help us, Violet would be blinded by rage and knowing Jason, that's exactly what he is counting on.
"William will accompany us; he too is full of hatred for that man. Together he wouldn't stand a chance" Violet snarled while pacing circles in my head.
"Violet stop! Even He wouldn't be stupid enough to go through with challenging him without a plan. He may have stormed off but we both know he only wanted to be alone"
"Marie you've become weak, the old you would have stopped at nothing to get back what was ours. We can feel their pain, is that not enough to make you realise its only us that can do this"
Blocking Violet out I laid down on the bed in the guest room, arguing with her had given me a headache. She wasn't wrong though, the old me wouldn't have let anything stop me. But raising Angel made me realise that I needed to be a lot more careful in the decisions I made. Closing my eyes, I let sleep take me.
Violets POV
After Marie pushed me away and blocked me from contacting her, I waited in the darkness for her to fall asleep. She had changed immensely over the last few years. Back when we were part of the Royal Pack had someone done us wrong, we wouldn't have stopped until we had been avenged. We thrived for the hunt, the adrenaline that rushed through our veins with each kill, whether it be a rogue or wild creature. The moon goddess always paired a wolf spirit with a human that matched our souls. We were the same in mind, soul and spirit. Neither me nor Marie wanted to have pups, we didn't want anything to take us away from the fight. Becoming a mother, would have done just that.
Together we were unmatched and unbeaten, no wolf had ever overpowered us. We trained religiously everyday and eventually earned the tittle of the first female warrior. I'm not naïve, I know we had to change slightly to raise Angel, but now she doesn't need us. Our mate does but he needs the fierce Marie, not this soft version. The moment I felt Maire drift off to sleep her guard came down, forcing myself forward and taking full control I shifted.
As soon as I had shifted, I jumped from the window landing gracefully on all fours. I was finally out; I hadn't been in my true form for ages not even during training sessions. As much as I wanted to revel in the nature before me, I knew I had more pressing matters to concern myself with.
"VIOLET SHIFT BACK" William's voice came from the window I had jumped from.
Without acknowledging him I darted for the forest to begin my journey to the Royal Kingdom.
