Jake's POV

　　After Angel had been sent back to the Moonlight Pack, me and Nick were about to head to the training academy, we needed to create a new training mandate in order to prepare everyone for the upcoming battle. As I went to close the door William asked me to wait behind, so Nick went on without me.

　　"Is there something you need to tell me Jake" William asked.

　　"Such as?"

　　"You and Angel. Why she's all riled up lately. I may have missed her growing up, but even I can tell she hasn't been herself lately"

　　"William if there is something you want to say then say it. Me and Angel are fine, and if there were to be any issues, I'm sorry but you would be the last person I would talk to about it" I told him before turning my back to leave.

　　"Jake she's pregnant" Rita called out.

　　"Rita… he didn't know. It wasn't your place to tell him" William scowled her.

　　"She's what… how could you possibly get that from her being angry. The way I see it you knew exactly what was going to happen to Marie and kept it to yourself. You both know what that woman meant to Angel, finding out what she did, I think her actions were justified" growing annoyed I left William's office slamming his door as I did.

　　I have known Rita my entire life, she had always been a woman to speak the truth. Well or so everyone had thought. Then out of nowhere she tries to tell me Angel's pregnant. Angel was my mate so I would have known if she were. It wasn't exactly a secret that when a she-wolf was expecting, her scent changed. It was said that their scent became sweet, and the last time I checked, Angel still smelt of chamomile.

　　Walking into the trainer's office I dropped myself into the chair across from Nick letting out a sigh before grabbing a folder and reading through it. We needed to know who was who, and what they were capable of before we could create a new training program. The only trouble was I couldn't focus being as I was to wound up.

　　"What's give you the ump? Could feel your rage as you walked in" Nick asks without looking up.

　　"Ah Rita seems to think that Angel is pregnant. She isn't by the way. Just f**king annoys me that she isn't who I grew up believing she was, then we find out she knew what happened to your mate and kept it to herself"

　　"I can't talk for Rita, but when it comes to William, he isn't usually wrong. All I'm saying is that he seems to have a sixth sense about shit. I'm not going to sit here and talk him up because no he doesn't know everything just don't dismiss what he says completely"

　　"If he knows so f**king much then hoe did Jason's betrayal go un-noticed?"

　　"Believe me mate William knew something was up. He knew about Jason's meetings with the rogues but we both just figured they were just trying to find a way of being accepted into the Royal Pack after their refusal"

　　After talking with Nick, I decided it would be wise to listen to his advice, something even Hunter agreed on me with. Once Angel returns, I was going to talk to her. If she isn't pregnant then there had to be another reason for her outbursts, a thought that had me feeling uneasy.

　　The next few hours seemed to speed by, and before we knew it the new training mandate was finished. Nick thought it would be a good idea to split the pack into mixed groups, they would no longer be all male. Once the schedule was pinned on the notice board, I headed up to the room I was given to shower before mind-linking Angel to see how the baby shower had gone.

　　"Jake, you need to get here and quick. Alice went into labor, but something went wrong, and Benson is flipping out" Angels worried voice stopped me in my tracks.

　　Benson's POV

　　"Alice, stay with me baby. Come on wake up" I whispered in her ear as the doctors ran their tests.

　　My heart was racing a million miles an hour I didn't know what was happening, but something was obviously wrong. Alice fell unconscious shortly after her waters went. Not long after did she begin to bleed. The doctors had said that the placenta hadn't ruptured as they had first suspected which was a good sign, however they couldn't work out why she had bled.

　　"I've told Jake what's happened, have the doctors said anything yet?" Angel said softly as she entered the room placing her hand on my shoulder.

　　"Not a thing, but they have said the pup is in distress so if her heart rate doesn't slow in the next thirty minutes, she will need to have an emergency c-section"

　　"They will solve it Benson I promise you, even if I have to command each and every doctor in this place"

　　"Thanks Angel" I knew she meant what she said, and I truly was grateful to have her here.

　　The doctors returned to check the pups heart rate which had slowed, but unfortunately not enough. As they prepared her for the c-section I went outside for fresh air. The bleeping of machines was irritating me along with the feeling of guilt at not realizing something was wrong.

　　"Benson mate, what's happening. Where is Alice" Jakes voice loud as he ran up to the front of the hospital before he pulled me into a bro hug.

　　I hadn't even realized I was crying until Jake pushed me away for getting his top wet. Just knowing that my best mate had dropped his duties to be here for me in my time of need meant everything. Once I had filled Jake in on what had happened at the baby shower until now, we headed inside. The doctors had placed Alice in a gown and put a hair net on her head.

　　"Beta we are ready. You're welcome to be present, just go with nurse Viv and she will show you where you can change into some scrubs. As I hope you understand we need to keep the environment germ free. The procedure shouldn't take to long, though as you are aware there are some risks which could lead to it taking slightly longer" The doctor spoke with complete confidence, his eyes not once leaving my own.

　　"Doctor Jones, I hope you will do everything you can to ensure the safe delivery on the pup and protect the life of the mother. Remember this is your beta female" Jake spoke using the slightest hint of his Alpha tone.

　　"Yes Alpha" the doctor replied before bowing his head to us and wheeling Alice up to the surgery ward.

　　"Good luck Benson" I turned around to find Sid standing in the corridor. I walked over to him and gave him a hug before following the nurse.

　　"Ok nurse Viv, on my signal I need you to hold the abdomen open to enable me to gain access to the patient's womb"

　　"Yes doctor"

　　"Right…. Now hold her open here. Nurse Helen I need suction. That's enough, thank you"

　　We had been in surgery for nearly an hour. Alice showed signs of improvement before once again declining which delayed everything. When she does wake up I knew she would be devastated that she missed the birth of our pup and I could only hope and pray that the pup being delivered safely and being healthy was enough to make her feel better.

　　"Three…two…one and…"

　　**wah-wah** the sound of a newborn cry filled the room.

　　Standing there frozen not wanting to move, the doctor walked around and placed my new pup in my arms after having her wrapped in a pink blanket. She was perfect in every way. I was terrified to hold her; I didn't want to break her she was just so tiny. I couldn't believe she was really here yet as happy as I felt I couldn't help the pain I felt in my heart. Alice had missed it and I knew it was going to eat her up. I was snapped out of my thoughts by the alarm on Alice's heart monitor going off.

　　"What the f*ck is happening. Why is it making that noise?" I screamed at Dr. Jones, but she only ignored me.

　　With speed she had ripped the gown covering Alice's chest placing paddles on her, shouting clear as electricity shot through my mate's body. I couldn't help but fall to my knees as I watched her body jolt with each shock they sent through her. It felt as though time had stood still, I hadn't even noticed as one of the nurses take my pup from my arms. Suddenly a pain formed in my heart causing me to scream. A pain that didn't need words to describe. Jake must have heard my pain because out of nowhere him an Angel were at my side. I looked at the nurse who was switching off the machines showing Alice's vitals before looking at the doctor as she walked towards me tears brimming in her own eyes.

　　"Beta, its with a heavy heart that I am sorry for the loss of your mate. We did everything that we could but we weren't able to save her"
