Ariel POV

　　The last few days had been a total blur. Ever since my refusal to join my mum and her mate Lord Vladamir in the high ranks of the vampire community, they had been trying to break me. That wasn't something I or Jade would let happen. We were both completely opposed to being a filthy blood sucker and I would made sure they bloody well knew it.　　Sebastian had come into my room for the fourth time today and having had enough of his taunting, Jade took control and we shifted. We decided that being in wolf form would make it a damn site harder for them to do anything. How wrong were we. Sebastian came back a short while later with three other men and Marie. After having put up a fight they managed to subdue me and injected us with what I knew was wolfsbane. There was no mistaking the soaring pain of the wolfsbane as it spread throughout my bloodstream causing pain, we were all too familiar with making us pass out as the pain gradually became too much.

　　When I eventually regained consciousness, my eyes shot open having sensed I wasn't alone. Jade being still unconscious from the effects of the silver that had clearly been on my wrists meant I would need to have all my wits about me. Sat on the end of my bed was my mum. Her brown hair sat in a messy bun on top of her head while her eyes were puffy and red a sure giveaway to the fact she had been crying. As if she had heard my heart rate skyrocket her eyes found mine instantly. She tried to wipe away the mascara that had now smudged and stained the underneath of her eyes as she composed herself.

　　"How do you feel?" She asked her voice cold not showing an ounce of emotion unlike her face. I now wondered if the tears that fell from her eyes weren't for me but someone else.

　　"How the f*ck do you think I feel? Your little minion pumped me with wolfsbane until I physically passed out" I replied matching her cold tone while trying to muster the strength to sit up in my bed.

　　"Well yes, you were being rather uncooperative, or so I was told" she said as she moved to help me sit up having seen me struggle until I flinched away from her making her step back rolling her eyes at my movement as she sat back down. "Ariel… why do you hate me? I've always tried my best to be a good mother to you, when your father…" she continued until I cut her off.

　　"DO NOT CALL HIM THAT! He never was a father to me. He was nothing but a sperm donor"

　　"When your father beat you or sent one of the other ranked wolves to do it for him, who was it that jumped on top of you and took them beatings so you wouldn't have to? Me that's who. I have done everything I possibly could to give you the upbringing I wanted for you. Yet even after everything you can't do this one little thing for me. The woman that bought you into this world. The woman that was banished for wanting nothing more than to rescue her defenceless daughter"

　　"I don't hate you; I hate what you are. What you've become. I am a wolf; I was born a wolf and I will die a wolf. If you have come here to get me to reconsider, then I'm sorry but your time has been wasted. I'm tired and in pain please leave" I looked away from her as she stood from my bed.

　　"Ariel, remember what I have said. I have protected you from everything, but this… this I will not intervene. Vlad has been more than gracious enough and has now come to the end of his tether. He is giving you until tonight to change your mind otherwise your as good as dead" with that she shimmered from my room.

　　The next few hours moved slowly and Jade still not having woken up had me feeling lonely. Looking at the clock that hung above the bedroom door I entered a daze listening to the ticking on each second until the door opened bringing me back to myself. As I looked in the doorway Marie entered signalling for me to be quiet.

　　"What's going on?" I whispered as she listened against the door.

　　"The vampires are going to make a play for the kingdom. I have been in secret contact with Alpha Jake but I'm not in a position to tell him anything else, if I leave here again, they will become suspicious. I need you to get there as quick as you can. Tell them they don't have long; tell them I need them to fight with everything they have. I know they think they can save me by capturing Lord Vladamir, but if they get the chance tell them not to waste it just to kill him"

　　"How am I to get out of here, there's bound to be guards everywhere" I replied beginning to panic only calming down when I felt Jade stir and watch through my eyes.

　　"This is the key to your room. Keep it hidden. When the clock strikes three in the afternoon go. The corridors will be empty as a meeting has been called and with your room being locked, they don't feel you need watching. Gather as much strength as you can. Just please be ready." Marie went to open the door again before turning back and looking at me. "And Ariel, please tell Nick I love him and that what happened to me wasn't his fault" a single tear fell from her eye as she turned and left.

　　I did as Marie instructed, I ate all the food that had been bought to me and rested. The moment the clock struck three I tapped into Jade's hearing to make sure the corridor outside was in fact clear. Once assuring myself the coast was clear, I used the key and unlocked the door. Having memorised the layout down to the ground floor I made my way.

　　"HEY, YOU STOP" a loud voice came from behind me.

　　Going against that feeling in my stomach that told me not to turn around I did only to find two vampires heading for me. Turning to run I bounced off the chest of another vampire that shimmered in front of me blocking my path preventing me from going that way. I could feel Jade seething with anger and desperation to get out of here. Her fight or flight mode taking over me as we shifted. Jade went straight for one vampires throat ripping it from him before he had a chance to defend himself. As she dropped his body to the ground, I was stunned to see it turn to ash, that was something I didn't expect. Whilst my attention fell on the pile of ash that laid before me it gave an opportunity for another vampire to wrap his arms around Jade's waist and squeeze. The force he used was enough to shatter one or two of my ribs making it slightly harder to breathe and even harder to move. After dropping Jade to the floor, another vampire came up behind us and stabbed her between the shoulder blades. The knife however wasn't silver but had been laced with wolfsbane. Luckily for us the adrenaline that was pumping through our body made it easier for us to ignore the pain.　　Having fought our way out of the mansion, subsequently becoming severely injured in the process we used what was left of our energy and left for the Kingdom. We needed to get to the safety the walls of the Kingdom held from the outside world and deliver Marie's message. After a few hours of running at a slower than normal pace due to a back leg I knew was broken as well as the other injuries we had substained, we finally reached the edge of the territory. Unable to go on any further Jade's legs gave way and we collapsed on the ground with a thud. Resisting the urge to fall into darkness, a large black wolf edged towards us. It shifted revealing Alpha Jake, knowing we would be safe in his presence I gave in to the darkness.

　　Angels POV

　　After settling Megan into her cot, I headed into the bathroom to run a bath. Pushing the door up so that I was still able to hear if Megan woke up, I got undressed and stepped into the warm water submerging myself in the bubbles. Sinking under the water I laid there for a minute or so before sitting back up only to come face to face with Jake's c*ck.

　　"Well, I wondered when you would come up for air" he chuckled as he stepped into the water pulling me to him once he sat down. "I've missed you Angel, this time we have spent apart has driven me crazy like you wouldn't believe"
