Angels POV
"Well, this dark haired beauty here is Athena she's the youngest of the two and this little beauty is Vanessa" my face hurt like mad with the smile that sat on my face as Jake and I introduced our pups to my family over video link.
"Oh my goddess, bless their little hearts they have got to be the prettiest little things I've ever seen" Rita whispered as she edged closer to the screen trying to get a better look at our girls.
My dad barely said a few words as the second he saw Vanessa his eyes filled with tears. I had seen a few pictures of what my mum looked like as a baby, and they looked identical.
"May the goddess help their mates" Uncle Nick laughed from in his seat earning a head slap from Aunt Marie who had been sitting beside him beaming with joy.
"And that's supposed to mean?" I asked slightly confused yet growing irritated.
"They are going to be gorgeous when they grow up and let's face it any man that's mated to them is going to have Jake to deal with, poor fuckers won't know what hit them ha ha. If I were you Angel, I'd be getting in contact with that grandmother of yours and asking her to make sure she mates them girls to someone with a pair of balls" I couldn't prevent the snort that left me as I watched Aunt Marie attempt to beat Uncle Nick as he jumped from his seat for his statement.
Once we ended the call, I couldn't stop myself yawning I was shattered, it had been an incredibly busy day. Between coming home and setting everything in their nursery up, the pack introduction and now being up to silly o' clock on the phone to my dad and everyone, it had worn me right out and my bed was calling for me. As we stepped into their nursery, Jake took Vanessa from my arms and placed her sleepy little body in the cot whilst I did the same with Athena. I wanted their cots to be in our room, but both Jake and Rose insisted it would be good for all of us to have the separation during the night, something I couldn't for the life of me understand. The girls were only a day old, I wanted to be with them each and every second yet after witnessing Jake in the hospital and him also not wanting to be apart from them this surprised me.
As I got into bed I felt my eyes begin to drop until I caught sight of Jake. He was sitting on the end of the bed his eyes perfectly trained on his daughters, I wondered if he were having second thoughts about them being in another room. We had left the door to their nursery open and placed the cots within view of our bed, that was the single condition I had if they were to sleep away from me. There was no denying the look of proudness which had my heart melting at the way Jake watched them as they slept. Growing up you would always here parents and guardians say they would do anything to protect their littles one's something which I never bothered to pay attention to until now. I now know exactly what they were talking about, I would strike down anyone that meant to cause them harm and would do all I could possibly do to ensure they grew up happy, loved and safe.
I hadn't even noticed I had fallen asleep until my eyes shot open to the sounds of shuffling. Jake wasn't beside me and his side of the bed was cold alerting me that he had been gone a while. Thinking something was wrong I climbed out of bed only to see that Athena wasn't in her cot. Rushing into the lounge of our alpha suite my heart was pounding away in my chest, I skidded to a stop when I saw they were ok, and it was just me being paranoid. Jake was sitting in the armchair snoring lightly with Athena asleep on his chest. I was about to panic until I noticed Jakes arm was holding her firmly in place preventing her from falling as they both soundly slept. Tip toeing over to them avoiding each and every creaky floorboard, I gently took Athena before placing her back in her bed. I decided to leave Jake asleep where he was for he had gotten up with our pup when I hadn't even heard her cry, he deserved his rest. I drifted back off to sleep feeling more than blessed that I was lucky enough to have a mate who would do such a small think like getting up and leaving me in bed, something that many mates lacked. ******
Before I knew it the pups were nearly a week old and just like human babies ours needed to have their jabs to only pups had them earlier on. Athena had spent the last few hours crying her little heart out which was hard to see and left me feeling guilty about having taken her. When we returned home, I placed both pups down for their naps but Athena having reacted to her jab wouldn't settle.
"Put her in with Vanessa" Jake's voice startled me as he came up behind me snaking his arm around my waist.
"But the health woman said they need to be in separate beds something about S.I.D.S"
"I know what she said but look at Vanessa, she looks like she's trying to reach out to her sister. It's almost as if she can sense Athena's upset" I turned my head to look at Vanessa and sure enough her eyes were locked on a screaming Athena.
Jake went and picked up Athena giving her a kiss on her little cheek before placing her back down in Vanessa's cot. The moment they were together my jaw hit the floor. Vanessa's eyes glowed a similar blue to my own as her hand touched her sister.
"Do you hear that? Silence."
"Her eyes, did you see her eyes? They lit up like mine" I told him in shock.
Jake seemed to be less shocked to Vanessa's reaction as I was. We knew they would both have special gifts because of their bloodlines but neither of us expected them to show traits of it until they were a few years old. Whatever Vanessa done obviously relieved Athena of her suffering which I was eternally grateful for, we had already given her calpol yet it hadn't worked. Wolves have enhanced healing but until they got their wolf counterparts, they would heal at the rate of a human meaning her temperature could have lasted forty-eight hours.
As the girls settled, I packed what they would need for the next few days as we were returning to the Royal Kingdom for our wedding. I was beyond excited to finally make our family complete. Aunt Marie had assured me that the final arrangements had been dealt with and everything would be set up the day before to allow for any mistakes; something that was a bride's worst nightmare. Jake and the guys talked about who would fill the position of best man to which he chose Benson. Sid wasn't happy as you can imagine as he too had grown up with Jake yet even I could see they weren't as close as Benson and Jake. We had made the decision to leave our pack in the hands of the pack's head of security whilst we were away, though he had been instructed to keep us informed if anything were to happen in our absence.
"And I think that's everything" I said out loud to myself as I zipped up the final bag.
"You sure you've got everything" Jake asked with an amused look on his face as he entered the room.
"Yes I'm sure, this time I haven't forgotten anything" I replied whilst rolling my eyes. the last time we left for the Kingdom I'd forgotten a few things and Jake still to this day refuses to let me live it down.
Jakes POV
We woke up early as we had a long journey ahead of us. With new-borns in the car, we would be needing to stop more regularly so left earlier to ensure we reached out destination on time. Angel, I, my mum and the girls went in one car while Benson, Megan, Sid and Ariel followed in their car. Benson had suggested getting the witch Caroline to teleport us there, don't get me wrong I would trust him with my life but there was no way in hell I was trusting a witch I neither knew well enough nor trusted with the lives of Angel and my pups. I would rather spend all day driving.
"The flowers should be arriving at the palace in the morning so I'm going to meet the organisers at the chapel with them" Angel had been texting away most of the journey, she was adamant nothing was going to go wrong on our day.
"Why are they going to the palace and not straight to the chapel, surely that's the easiest and most sensible option"
"HA! You would think so, wouldn't you? But noo because 'Rylan' thinks he knows best"
"Rylan?"
"The man that runs the florist. Don't get me wrong there's nothing wrong with a gay man, his boyfriend is absolutely lovely but when Rylan tried to tell me he knows what's best for me and my wedding I can't stand him. Jake he's so infuriating all I want to do is strangle him"
"So why don't you?" I chuckled noticing how wound-up Angel was becoming.
"If he had been a wolf I would have. I'm using a human company, and before you ask me why it's because they were the only place able to produce the bouquets I wanted"
I wanted our day to be spot on, not for me but for Angel. After everything this woman had been through, I wanted to give her the world. Hearing the pups begin to shuffle in their seats I pulled off the motorway and into a service station. Angel was so busy typing away on her phone she hadn't even realised us stop until I was out of the car and opening her door.
"Aww forever the Gentleman" Bensons sarcastic voice popped into my head, I looked at him and smirked. It was obvious he wanted more of a reaction, he was bored, and he always got like this when he was.
"Oh they Papa Johns, what do you guys reckon to pizza?" Ariel was literally bobbing with excitement at the thought of pizza which we could all see so we agreed.
Walking into the restaurant the girls took the pups and found a table whilst we went to grab some food. Just as we were about to place our order Hunter snarled in my head as he urged me to check on our mate. Knowing this wasn't like him I did as he wanted and the sight I saw caused a growl to emerge from my chest scaring the waitress that walked past.
"Go away I have nothing to say to you" Angel refused to meet his eyes not showing him the slightest ounce of respect which in turn seemed to piss him off.
"Those yours and Jakes? Can't believe you would allow yourself to have his mutt's you could have chosen me, there's still time for you to…"
"Don't you finish that fucking sentence Brad" I growled as I ripped him backwards away for Angel and my pups as I stood in a protective stance in front of them.
"Put your hackles down stupid dog. I was only congratulating her on the news arrivals" he sneered in response.
"Well now you have done so there's nothing keeping you here is there" I told him as I took a step towards him making him step further back.
"Then I guess il just have to talk to you again at the wedding wont I"
"Wedding?" My mum asked confused knowing full well he hadn't been invited.
"Yes, the one my invitation got lost for. But don't worry I know the location, date and time"
"You weren't invited Brad; we don't want you there and unfortunately for you it's invite entry only. So I'm sorry for your wasted journey"
"Oh dear cousin how my heart breaks at the thought of being unwanted. Well then Angel I hope someone knows of a reason for your ceremony not to go ahead then maybe a wolf worthy can claim you" Brad laughed along with that of his beta as he backed further up before turning and leaving the restaurant.
Taking my phone out of my pocket I immediately called Nick informing him of my confrontation with Alpha Brad, I needed him to ensure that the security for our wedding was knit tight. Nothing and no body uninvited were getting in I would make damn sure of it.
