Rhea's POV
The light from the sun panned through my curtains and onto my red wooden bed, casting a bit of its light on my face.
I tried to snap my eyes open, but there were still some sleepy grains on them, making my eyelids heavy.
I hissed in pain as I felt a sharp thud around my head, groaning painfully.
My nose twitched slightly as a pungent smell hit it; it smelled awful, stinking.
The more I drew back, the harder the smell hit me. I didn't think I could endure that odorous smell; it made me sick to my stomach.
"Hello, wife, are you awake?"
At the sound of that voice, I trembled. The voice sounded familiar, and before I knew it, I muttered, "Kian."
My eyes instantly flew open to a blurry view of a man sitting beside me with a cup in his hands. From the look of things, the person was male.
I could tell that he was staring down at me. I matched his gaze and focused my eyes on him, and suddenly, I had a perfect view.
"Kian," I mumbled, sounding confused. What was he doing here?
My gaze trailed down to the cup in his hands. What was he up to?
Kian was going to be the last person to show me any affection. Or had he changed?
My heart flipped excitedly, but his next words had my joyous moment fade away.
"Did you remember anything?" He scanned my face with his cold eyes, gazing into me as if he was looking through my soul.
What was he talking about? Remember what? And why was he here?
"Did anything happen?" I asked, unsure of my own question, but he ignored me and continued looking at me.
My eyes glazed around with thoughts as I allowed my mind to ponder what he meant. What happened last night?
What could have made Kian enter my room, sit beside me, and wait for me to wake up?
Well, I recalled him barging into my room and warning me to stay away from his mistresses, but again...
I stared up at him, remembering feeling a sharp pain that resulted in my... wait! I collapsed.
"What happened to me?" I asked unknowingly, causing his brow to flicker up in a questioning manner.
"Did you recall anything?" He maintained his question.
"Nope," I said. He raised his brow at me; I seemed confused as well. Why did it feel like something was missing?
"I could recall having tremendous pain around my whole body, and then..." I paused.
"And?" he stressed the word, motioning for me to speak up.
"I collapsed," I quietly muttered.
"Anything else?"
I looked at him and then tried to recall, but nothing else was popping out, although there was restlessness within me.
"Nothing," I shook my head. He paused, his lips in a tight line, staring at me.
After a few seconds, he broke into a smirk, his eyes shimmering.
"I brought you medicine," he pushed the cup forward. On perceiving the smell, I instantly looked away.
"What?" he demanded.
"It smells terrible."
"Oh! About that... Dear wife, you need it for your health."
"Why am I drinking it, and what happened to my health? I can't seem to remember anything."
"Huh," he shrugged, "From the doctor's report, you stress yourself a lot, and you need some days off."
"Some days off?"
"You have been sleeping for four days now," I gasped. "Four... what?"
"But I believe that this medicine will help you relax and make your body relax as well."
"Who gave it to me?"
"Enough of questions and drink up!" I flinched back under his harsh voice.
"Sorry, dear wife, I didn't mean to be harsh, but the doctor requested that you take this medication while it is still hot," he pushed the cup closer.
From the smell, I wanted to purge. Holding my breath, I stretched my right hand to collect the cup from him.
I could feel something stir within me, yelling at me never to collect that cup from him. I suddenly felt uneasy.
It was as though my whole being was against me collecting that cup from him.
Something didn't seem right, and for some strange reason, I couldn't take the cup from him.
Noticing my hesitation, his face darkened before it instantly lit up. "Come on, take it," he smiled.
Though Kian is a beast, I am his wife. He can't plan evil for me. He can't hurt me in this aspect, at least he has waited beside my bed for me to wake up for four days now.
He couldn't possibly hurt me. Swallowing harder, I shoved away the uneasy sensation from me and collected the cup from him.
Bringing the cup closer, the awful smell hit my nostrils, making me feel nauseous.
"Come on, still your breath and take it," he nodded at me to go on.
My insides were on fire. Something seemed to be fighting within me. It was as if a fire was ignited within me. My body and mind seemed to be against each other.
My heart was considering taking the content, but my mind was totally against the idea.
Holding my breath, I brought the cup toward my lips and gulped down the content.
My throat burned as the content moved down to my stomach. I groaned loudly, my grip clasping the bedsheets tight as pain shot through my heart and all over my body.
"Ahhh," a painful howl escaped my lips, and I swear I saw a satisfied smirk appear on Kian's lips before it instantly disappeared.
My adrenaline pumped into my veins ceaselessly, pushing me off the bed to the ground as I cried out painfully. The more I tried to overcome it, the harder it came back.
Tears flowed down my cheeks, and with redshot eyes, I stared up at Kian, who sat there looking at me wallowing in pain.
"What have you given to me?"
