Rhea's POV
My eyes flashed a series of colors before they instantly disappeared into my normal hue, and my body twitched as I tried to move. But it felt as if someone was squeezing my throat, making it impossible for me to breathe.
Lifting my gaze, I stared at Kian. My eyes still burned with pain flashing through them.
"What did you give me?" I yelled, my veins popping out.
"Easy, and endure the pain. It is just for a few minutes," tears blurred my vision.
Patting my cheek, he smiled and picked up the cup. "Try and rest." No matter how he tried to sound nice, the coldness in his voice couldn't go unnoticed.
Standing at his feet, he spared me one last glance and walked away, leaving me all alone.
My whole body ached, as if I was inside a burning lava.
I tried crawling back to the bed when suddenly I felt a sharp pain around my chest. I gasped and grabbed hold of my blouse in pain.
Rolling on the bare floor, the pain hit me again, sharper than before. Curling my fist, I cried out. What is happening to me?
What has Kian put inside this medicine? Why am I in pain? The medicine was supposed to heal me, not cause me pain!
Why does it feel like my body is against this medication? Kian! Kian, what did you give me? This is painful. Something seems to be fighting against this medicine, and I am getting weaker and weaker as time goes on.
I have never felt this pain before in my life. From my heart down to my whole body, it felt like my bones were being crushed, and the pain just kept coming harder and sharper.
Groaning in pain, I let out a cry as the pain hit me with increasing speed. My head seemed to be spinning around as if I was in a merry-go-round.
I didn't have the strength to crawl back into the bed or even call anybody. Calling for help would make them view me as a weakling. I have faced a lot of humiliation in this pack, but with my boldness and head held high, I was able to overcome insults.
But mind linking or calling for help would make them laugh in my face. Swallowing the pain, I decided to bear the uncontrollable pain within me. It was too much to handle, but I couldn't do anything. Kian had left me knowing how my body reacted to the medicine.
That was unfair! He left me after seeing me wallowing in pain.
As the pain became unbearable, I curled up on the floor, my eyes blurry, and before I knew it, I lost consciousness.
The whistling of birds and the sunlight streaming through the window woke me up. I slowly opened my eyes and realized I had fallen asleep on the cold floor.
The intense pain was gone, but I felt weak and empty inside, like something was missing. My heart felt empty, like there was a hole that needed to be filled. Despite the feeling, I ignored it and pushed it away.
I slowly got up and stumbled toward the bathroom. As I walked past the wall mirror, I stopped and stared at my reflection. For a few minutes, I couldn't recognize myself. My eyes were puffy, my face was pale, and dark circles were under my eyes. My hair looked crazy and unkempt.
Trailing my hands around my face, I let out a frustrated sigh and headed into the shower. Even though I had no energy, I scrubbed my body quickly and dressed up.
As I was dabbing my face with liquid powder, I heard a knock at the door. I stopped and glanced back at the door before uttering, "Yes," after a few seconds of silence.
"Come in," I said, and Mercy walked in, bowing all smiley.
"Good day, my Luna," she said, but I just acknowledged her greeting with a nod before refocusing on what I was doing.
"I came yesterday knocking, but you didn't open the door, and you didn't eat anything yesterday," she said, but I ignored her complaints and asked her instead.
"How many days have you come here to check up on me?"
"Just two days, yesterday and the day before yesterday," she retorted.
"What about the other days?" I asked.
"The other day! What do you mean, my Luna?"
"When was the last time you saw me?" I asked, my gaze fixed on the mirror.
"Uhmm, that was on your birthday, the day of the conference meeting," she replied.
I shut my eyes as I remembered that was the exact day I slipped into unconsciousness. "How many days ago was that?" I asked, noticing the little frown on her forehead.
"Two days ago," she said with a shrug.
"Two days," I raised my brow. "I came the night of your birthday looking for you but you didn't answer. You locked yourself in here for two days," she explained.
My eyebrow twitched as confusion set in. Why did Kian lie to me? He said I had been unconscious for four days. Mercy is my personal maid and hasn't missed a day coming to tidy up and check on me.
So, if she has only been here for two days, that means I have been unconscious for two days. Something is not right! That medicine...
I looked up at her and noticed how stunned and startled she seemed. "What?" I asked.
"Mercy," I called out before she gulped hard and pointed at the dark shadows under my eyes.
"What happened? Didn't you get enough rest? Are you sick?" she asked.
"Huh," I smiled, but before I could reply, the door opened, and Lila walked in, surprising me.
"Why are you here?" she glared at Mercy, who instantly looked nervous.
"Lila," I said with distaste.
"Oh, my Luna," a smile snuck onto her lips as she pushed Mercy aside and walked toward me.
"Why are you here?" I demanded, sounding almost harsh.
"Can't we talk?" she raised her brow at me.
