CHAPTER 23 Isn't That Funny

  Rhea's POV

"Sheila," Daemon seemed shocked and rigid, from the manner that he called the girl, it is obvious that they knew each other. They might be damn close that the woman didn't fear addressing him by his first name without any title attached as a sign of respect. Though from her aura, you could tell that she is a Lycan.

My heart clenched as the idea of both of them being lovers crossed my mind. Merely looking at her had my eye burning with jealousy.

She is stunningly gorgeous with long flowy black hair that slowly descends her body, stopping almost at her butt. She moves with this kind of elegance that matches her features, who is she?

For some unknown reason I didn't like her, I guess I am intimidated by her beauty.

"What are you doing here?" Daemon's harsh voice pulled me back to reality. Why does he sound like he wasn't happy seeing her? I smiled at the idea that he still has his grip on me and not crawling under this beauty in front of us.

She took a few strides forward, she came toward us while standing in front of us almost beside Daemon. Her attention was focused on me, she looked really calm and gentle but behind those calmness lay a fire of rage flashing through her eyes which faded so quickly before I could have a deeper look at her.

I watched as a smile effortlessly appeared on her lips, moving to Daemon who still has our bodies pressed together.

Her eyes twitched at our position, and she chuckled, acting all strong but I can see hurt flickering at those silver eyes of hers.

"Daemon," the way that she calls his name had my stomach churning making me feel like throwing the last food that I had earlier up.

"Who is she?" She asked, staring at him.

Her question had my inside clench in anger, Daemon's gaze shifted from the woman, finding mine.

Though it feels wrong, I thought that he was going to lay those possessive claims on me again, calling me "MINE" but something unexpected happened. I watched him with pain pull himself away from me, creating a distance between us.

"Well, she is the Luna of Blackwood Pack," he blurted out and for some odd reason I felt a sharp thud around my chest.

"Oh! You mean the wife of Kian," she said in a condescending tone, I guess that I concluded so fast. She is nothing close to being calm or gentle, I think that there is something tricky about her.

"Hmm," Daemon shrugged with a forced smile, refusing to spare me a look.

My gaze settled on him, my heart breaking at every little act of his. This isn't right but I couldn't seem to stop my bleeding heart from the pain. I already have a mate but I still feel this huge attraction toward him, it feels weird.

Sheila's next word brought my attention back to her, "Nice meeting you, Luna," she stretched out her right hand.

Looking at the hand I felt like spitting on them but I swallowed hard and took her hands into mine, snapping my eye instantly at her as I noticed how hard she squeezed my palms in hers.

But before I could speak up, her words interrupted me, "It's nice meeting you, my name is Sheila," she said with a grin, her eyes sparkling in amusement.

Instantly withdrawing my hand from hers, I acknowledged her greeting with a slight nod. I didn't lie when I said that there was something deceptive about her.

She amusingly smiled at me, I stared down at my palms and then back to hers. Her amusing smile was still there but just then a manly voice came from behind.

We all turned our heads in that direction and it was Daemon's beta. "I am sorry for not letting you know that Sheila came,"

He suddenly came to a halt and swerved to face me. His gaze moved from mine then back to Daemon and Sheila standing beside him.

His curious eye fell on us, the questions were vividly written in his eyes but for some reason, he didn't dare to ask them.

"I am sorry for not letting you know that Sheila came," his gaze shifted to Daemon.

"Is the dinner over?" He asked, ignoring his apology.

"Yeah, there is nothing interesting going on there again," his beta, who I still don't know his name, answered.

"Well, I guess that we are done for here today," his words seemed to have gladdened Sheila though it hurts me that he is leaving.

Turning around, his cold gaze met mine, "Well, I think that we have to take our leave," his eyes were stony and his lips that had the color of cherries were pressed firmly against each other in anger.

His sudden change in demeanor hurts, but I played it cool, remaining calm. He is still the king and after all I already have a mate, so I did the only right thing by nodding my head respectfully at him.

"Thanks for coming and please take care,"

My fist curled up on noticing the woman took in his hands and they started walking away without sparing me any other look. The victory smirk on her face says it all.

I stood there watching them disappear between the walls of the hallway, sighing. I tried opening my door when suddenly a voice came from behind.

"Is interesting how our able Luna seems smitten with the king," Lila emerged from beside the pillar. With her hands behind her back, she started striding toward me with a deadly smirk.

"Lila," I muttered with shock, causing a smile to break widely on her lips.

"Isn't that funny," she slurred amusingly with her gaze fixed on me.
