Daemon's POV
My eyes turned hazy, I was been mind link by my beta, Sam. I sat on the stool beside my bed with a glass of wine swirling around my hand.
My head hurts, I still can't get her image off my mind. Is hard to resist my beast from claiming her right away.
"What?!" I grunted in my usual deep and cold voice, unable to hide my frustration and rage at bay. Does he always have to disturb me?
"Where are you? I have been searching everywhere for you and I noticed that you weren't at your office, strange," he spoke with a quick breath.
I furrowed my eyebrow, confused, "Why?"
"I thought that you were supposed to be at Luna's coronation with the other pack Alphas... What's the name again?" I sighed at the last statement.
"Mtcheww," he hissed, taking me by surprise, "Please where are you?" He replied in haste, and before I knew it. My room door was pulled open, revealing Sam.
"Hmm," he smiled, a victorious smirk playing on his lips like he just won a marathon. "Here you were, bro," he took the glass of wine in my hands, gulping all the content in it at once. He placed it back in my open hand and plopped onto the nearby couch in front of me.
Looking at him for a while, I cleared my throat and went straight to the point, "Why are you back early?" I said, clearly not in the mood for exchanging pleasantries or going around the corner. I am a straightforward person and I knew that he came back for a reason.
"Not surprised that you couldn't let this topic slide," he chuckled, "Well, let's say that I couldn't take their bullshit," he said with so much disgust.
I slightly raised my brow at him, "Did anybody try to bully you?"
His face suddenly turned stoic at my question,
His sharp gaze glared at me, "None of them was even a match to a full-blooded Lycan, talk more about my physical skills," he boasts, showing off his muscles. "You just underrated me right now, buddy,"
I leveled my gaze with Sam, who spoke, when leaning deeper into my chair with my arms folded against my chest," Then what happened?
"Guess who I saw today, Alpha of the Blackwood pack, Kian, the husband of Luna Rhea," my eye pulled open instantly at the last statement. A flash of rage stalked my black eyes, I know that he intentionally said that.
"Well, I knew that he was going to come but my concern is that... why should he come to the party with Rhea's beta from the way they were gisting and acting, I believe that something was wrong, and besides I wonder why Rhea didn't attend and allowed Kian to go with her beta?" Sam voiced, vexing all his anger.
"You didn't expect her to go to the fuck up ceremony when I invited them over here," I remained fitted, my eye ruthlessly cold, showing absolutely no emotions.
"Yes, that reminds me... I heard that you invited the blackwood pack, what for?"
"I am your king, Sam, you don't question me like a child!" My eyes glowered, flashing the eye color of my beast.
"But I am your beta, at least I am bound to know a bit," he insists.
"Fine! To let her know that we are still interested in cooperating with them," I smiled at the idea.
But Sam stared at me with round eyes, his brow creased in confusion. Placing his hand on the glass table in front of him, he leaned forward, "What do you mean her, instead of them?"
"She came and of course, that maggot of husband didn't show up with her, except her assistant,"
I said the word husband with so much hatred but Sam didn't say anything, instead, he continued looking at me. Clearing his throat, he leaned forward like he was just getting to understand what I said earlier, "You mean that you called them all the way from Blackwood pack to here... Just to tell them this,"
Sipping my drink, I raised a brow at him. "Come on, bro but this is the exact information that you sent me a few days ago to disclose to them which I did and now you called them again just to reinform them again... Are you for real?" Sam sounded confused before he hurled me one of his doubtful looks.
"I guess that was not the reason, why did you seek their presence?" He demands.
"Sam, sometimes you get on my nerves, you know that," I rumbled when pulling my hair in a frustrated way.
"You know about the ceremony and truly well that there is no way that Kian won't be there. That one of them has to deed to your invitation while the other one goes for the ceremony,"
"So where are you going?" My gaze fell on him.
"You just wanted to see her," my face suddenly turned cold. "Am I to know that Kian won't be attending?" I maintained my cold voice.
"You knew too well that he loves parties but Rhea will honor your invite," he declared, making my body stiffen. Disappointment lacing through his voice.
Rage colored my feature, I didn't bother masking my emotions again. I hate the fact that he knows me too well and that I couldn't just come out and claim my mate.
But however, I spoke up holding a frosty short smile, "Hmmm... As I said earlier, I invited the both of them if Kian didn't show is none of my business or any of my fault,"
"Bro, this is definitely not right," he pauses before mumbling the one word that I have come to hate so much, "She is a married woman, what did you plan to gain from this?"
I shut my eyes, pausing for a moment before clenching my jaw, my hand curling into a ball. My heart tightened as I continued fighting the urge not to allow my beast to take over, I need to curtail him.
"Leave," my eye ruthlessly fell on him, "I said for you to leave," at my command, Sam stood up from the couch. "Fine, as you wish,"
I nodded at him, "Sam, I don't think that I can control myself any further if I am to see you here in the next minute so you need to leave my presence for now,"
Sighing, I heard the door closed and I knew that he was gone. If you continued judging me, Sam how do I disclose my challenges to you?
Groaning, I tilted my head coldly as I heard the squeaking sound from the door. My gaze fell on Sheila, what perfect timing. She stood there at the door in all her glory staring back at me.
But all I could see is the pretty face of Rhea, her crescent cream skin. Fuck...! I think that I need to get her off my mind for a while.
Standing instantly on my feet, I forcefully pulled Sheila forward and smashed my lips against hers.
Let's get over it!
