CHAPTER 46 Discussion

  Sheila's POV

I paced angrily and restlessly around my room, consumed by deep pain. Something felt off, and my instincts, which had never failed me before, were telling me that everything changed when Luna of the Blackwood Pack entered the picture.

Daemon had transformed, becoming a mere shadow of his former self. He no longer gazed at me with the same intensity, and I no longer held his desire. Luna had stolen my place in his heart. I had always consoled myself by believing they were in contact solely due to the alliance, but everything shifted on that goddamn night.

My perspective on the situation changed dramatically when Daemon led me into his office. I smiled bitterly, my gaze fixated on the world outside my room window.

For a fleeting moment, I thought we were returning to normal, but hell no! It was just a cruel illusion. It became clear that I meant nothing to him once again. With each forceful thrust, all he kept calling and screaming was RHEA complementing and emphasizing how sweet it feels to make love to her.

He had never uttered such words to me in all the years of our existence, even during our most passionate marathons of sex. I had tried every position, every technique, ensuring his satisfaction, but it never garnered any appreciation.

I had convinced myself that he was not the type to give compliments, but that night shattered that illusion. It was evident that he had never truly desired me. BUT I HAVE ALREADY DEVELOPED A F******G FEELINGS FOR HIM!!

Taking a deep breath, I closed the window, shutting out the world outside, and slowly made my way back to the bed. The memory of that night lingered, haunting me. He had come dangerously close to releasing inside me, mistaking me for Rhea, but my sobs jolted him back to reality just in time, causing his climax to stain the bedspread.

His face contorted with anger, his eyes filled with disappointment. It felt as though he believed he had committed a grave mistake, although deep down, I knew those expressions were not meant for me but for that worthless being who had come between us.

A soft knock at the door interrupted my thoughts. I turned towards the source of the sound, composing myself. "Come in," I replied, my voice steady.

The door was pushed open and Jerry, one of our computer experts, walked in.

"Hey, Jerry," a wicked smile crawled immediately at my lips.

  "Yeah," he nodded in acknowledgment.

"Did anyone see you walking in here?" I asked, my eyes diverting behind him. He shook his head negatively when giving me a suspicious look.

"Fine!" I nodded and walked up to him.

  "So where are the documents?"

"Here," stretching out my right hand, I took the files from his hold. My gaze not leaving him.

"I believe that you did the background check very well," my gaze kept flickering at him and the paper in my hand as I went through the files.

  "Yeah," he replied.

At least a little check on her background story won't hurt, I need to know the kind of connection that she shares with Daemon despite already having a mate and being married.

"Hmm," coughing, Jerry cleared his throat. "Do you still need anything?"

His nervous question got my attention, "Oh!" A phony smile made it to my lips.

"C'mon… poor Jerry, why so nervous around me," I noticed how he suddenly gulped hard and instantly tilted his head to the other side.

Taking a few strides forward, I stopped and glanced at him, "Don't worry, I will call your attention once your presence matters again,"

He nodded at me, "Leave…" I motioned to the door.

Nodding again, he turned around and started heading to the door but he could barely make it out from the door. I called him, causing him to halt in his tracks.

  "Jerry,"

"Yes, lady Sheila," he respectively swerved to look at me.

"This discussion shouldn't make it out from this room; no one else should know about this,"

Jerry's face scrunched, his brow furrowing up in confusion. "Sorry, but we didn't have any discussion. I just got the information that you requested, you told me that Alpha Daemon demands that,"

"And that's the main reason that you shouldn't let other parties know the content in these files or have the idea that you visited me,"

Walking up to him, I stopped right in front of him. My heel touching the tip of his shoe, I can already see the fear in those round eyes of his.

"The information in these files is not meant to be disclosed to anybody outside, Alpha Daemon made it an order. Nobody should know that you visited me," I warned.

"But why? Hiding all this when Alpha requested for them," he asked, his face colored in confusion.

"Enough of questions," I snapped, my back facing him. "Some questions are better left unanswered,"

"Leave," I instantly dismissed him. "Thanks," he reached for the door but I stopped him again.

"If the information should leave the four walls of this room be already for Alpha Daemon to have your head fed to the vultures for sabotaging the pack affairs,"

"You have my words, lady Sheila," with that statement, he left my room.

Looking down at the files in my hand, a smile graced my lips… Now let's get back to work, Rhea Clawson.
