Rhea's POV
I woke up to the faint knock at my room door, Dawn was barely breaking outside through my window indicating that it was still early morning and I was still sprawled in my bed with my eyes looking puffy due to stress and lack of sleep.
I have been working effortlessly since my return from the Thorn Pack trying to shove what transpired there from my mind and most especially even though I didn't want to admit it... I am working tirelessly to shake Daemon's image and words out of my head that I barely eat again.
The sound across my room door pulled my attention back to reality, who could possibly be here by this time of the day?
"Luna, please open the door, the breakfast is ready," the ecstatic voice behind the locked doors causes me to jerk up from my bed. Like seriously, breakfast by this time of the day.
"Mercy," I scratched my head and grumbled in annoyance.
I yanked the duvet off me and scrambled out from the bed toward the door with a tiring sigh.
Opening the door, I let out a deep sigh, "Oh! Mercy,"
"Good morning, Luna," she greeted with her head cast down.
My eyebrow pulled up in confusion, "Why are you here this early morning?"
"Sorry for the disturbance, Luna, but breakfast is ready," she announced. I froze on my spot.
"Breakfast by this time," I mumbled unbelievably. "We don't eat breakfast by this time… in fact, it has never been done, sorry but did you hit your head somewhere?" I asked, stuck in shock and confusion.
"No, my Luna, I didn't hit my head," she replied.
"Then why the fuck are we having breakfast by this time of the day, is barely 6 a.m.?" I spare a quick glance at the clock hanging freely on the wall of my room before fixing my gaze back on Mercy.
"They are the new rules, Luna," she blurted out, dampening my confusion more.
"Rules," I looked at her. "Rules made by who?"
"Alpha Kian," she announced, causing my heart to flip in annoyance.
"Kian," I said, barely in a low tone, my eyes lowered distastefully at her words. He knew too well that I am never a morning person and he went ahead with this silly rule and that's when realization dawned on me. He did that to get to me, huh... But what happens when I don't attend?
"Fine, but sorry I am not hungry," I declined.
"Sorry, my Luna but the Alpha and others are waiting for you downstairs," my gaze widened in shock.
"Kian… waiting for me," I whispered to myself under my breath, but I was sure that she heard me just fine. "That was the impossible thing that I have ever heard, Kian waiting for me,"
"But I said that I am not hu..."
I haven't finished my sentence when my stomach grumbled, fuck! I cursed, does this have to embarrass me now?
Mercy's gaze trailed at my stomach and then back to me, "I guess that I have to dress up,"
"But my Luna, they are already waiting for you downstairs," her lips moved faster than I could like. I shut my eyes and inhaled sharply.
"At least let me brush my teeth and change to something pleasant to the eye,"
I was escorted by Mercy to the dining room where a handful of a group of people were waiting for me. I walked up and took a seat beside Kian who had his eyes closed, felt a slight movement, and suddenly an indistinct frown settled in between his forehead.
With his eyes still closed, he asked in a deep and angry tone, "What took you that long?"
"I am sorry for keeping you all waiting, I woke up late," I gave them a rueful smile.
"Hah!" Kian sneered in return, pulling his eyes open. He cast me a dark stare before replying coldly in front of everyone, "You think so highly of yourself, dear wife," his words oozed with sarcasm.
I was taken aback for a moment, though I felt puzzled but I never took the initiative to ask him anything or even spare him any look. And just then the entrance door was slammed open revealing Fiona.
"Wow!" I noticed his eye glint in satisfaction, "Here comes the png awaiting beauty,"
I was dumbfounded for a while before I eventually recovered from my shock, so he wasn't actually waiting for me...
"Sit up, Fiona, need to sit down," his words stunned me for a moment as I tried but failed miserably to comprehend what he just said.
"Excuse you," I was dumbfounded, my gaze trailed from him to Fiona who was standing there waiting for me to stand up in my position. This is a slap at my damn face!! Kian with his gloomy face hurls a dangerous glare toward me.
"When did Fiona start eating at the same table with high-ranking people?" My question sounds like a slap in their faces.
"You... A high ranker! A wolfless being," his mockery toward me knew no bounds but I swallowed hard with a masked expression.
While I was still in thought, Kian had already reacted. He stood up and walked up to me to stand up and go sit at the other far end of the dining. I couldn't miss out on the pitiful look from everyone in there, well except Lila.
Rage flashed through me at Kian's humiliation and chagrin toward me, I lifted my gaze and stared at her. She had everyone's attention, some had a knowing look on their faces while some hurled me a pitiful look and I was burned with rage at every second of it.
My eyes fell back at those angry piercing and intimidating eyes of my mate, Kian.
"Sorry to disobey you but as the Luna of this pack, I am not standing up and vacating my seat for a low wolf," at the moment, I allowed my rage to get the best part of me not caring about the consequences.
