Rhea's POV
Finally, the day of the party has arrived. Though for three days now I haven't heard from Lila which was a bit surprising because since her demotion a day had never passed by without her coming to my chamber or office to yarn out her frustration in my face.
I sighed and pulled my mind away from those thoughts. Whatever she is going through has nothing to do with me. It was semi-darkness already, and I could clearly hear the loud chattering of noise outside the pack house. I guess that the pack members have started coming out for the event.
Hopefully, since it is a celebration of the cooperation of the four packs, Daemon has ensured that the pack members from the whole pack are allowed to attend not only the Alpha or Luna. Though I am curious if the Thorn Pack can accommodate us all.
I was standing beside my closet, my eyes fixed on the body hug silky long blue gown that was hanging freely in my wardrobe. I specifically pulled out this cloth to wear tonight. My excitement knew no bounds.
My body was in its own world. I don't know if it is the excitement to see Daemon or for the celebration of the cooperation. I knew the answer though I refused to believe them.
Still, in my thoughts, the door was pulled open. There was a sudden change in the air and I knew that it was him. "Rhea, still not dressed," he drowned from behind.
And that's when I turned around to stare at him, I won't deny the fact that he looks dashing and charming in his white tuxedo. I was still admiring his appearance when his angry voice drew me back.
"What the hell are you still doing?" He snapped, his voice filled with coldness.
I tore my gaze away from him and slowly took up the silky gown from my dressing rack.
"It is almost time for the ceremony, we were the people that initiated the idea so we were supposed to be there on time,"
"I know but trust me I will be done in less than an hour," I muttered but my demon of a husband hissed at my words.
"Is a total waste of time trusting a worthless thing like you," I gulped hard at his words. Stepping deeper into the closet, I pulled off my towel and slid into the cloth.
"Get dressed, and get downstairs. I am just giving you thirty seconds or you will regret your actions," threateningly, he slammed my door and angrily stormed out of the place.
Ignoring him, I stared at myself in the mirror admiring the fitness of the cloth on my body. The luxurious gown hugged my exquisite figure scrupulously, making me look charming and at the same time cute.
And just in time, Mercy appeared to help me by dressing my short hair and putting it in a doughnut bun, and leaving tiny strands of my hair to fall at the front.
Soon, I was done and ready to go, I couldn't even recognize myself. The transformation was a dupe, I thanked Mercy and we walked away.
Coming downstairs, Kian's back was on us. He seemed to be seriously engaged in a heated conversation over his phone so he spared me a quick glance and strode toward the parking spot.
He didn't even stop to help me to the car, not like I was expecting that though. I saw Fiona all dressed up, she looks stunning by the far. Her fingers as usual were intertwined with that of Kian.
I stood on my spot, waiting for her to enter the same car as Fiona. Reaching the car, I watched him tell her to get in another car before motioning for me to step toward it.
I sucked in some air and walked toward him with my head held high and just like I have been taught at my tender age, I walked with elegance and pride. Reaching the car, we both slid in and the driver drove off to the Thorn Pack.
After what seemed like forever, we reached the pack. Stepping out of the car and that's when Kian saw my appearance.
His jaw dropped and stared at me with an open mouth and lustful gaze.
"Shouldn't be going, people are here?" I asked, ignoring his lustful stares. Shouldn't I be happy that for once in years he gets to stare at me with emotions? Hell no, I guess my body and spirit are eager to go inside and see that one single soul there that only his gaze was enough to ignite a burning fire within me.
"Yeah, hmmm, yeah, we should go," he cleared his throat and gestured for us to go.
Every eye was on me as I kept moving, the place was crowded with people of different packs joined together. Surprisingly the place was big enough to contain all of us.
I scanned around but there was no sign of Daemon, causing a frown to make it to my face. On the other hand, Kian has left my side claiming that he needs to greet one of the Alphas there. I was just standing there like a lost puppy, my anger bumping at every second.
However, at the other end were Kian and Fiona having a pleasant talk while I stood here looking like a lost child. A pang of pain pierced through my heart, the disgrace was much for me.
I might have been embarrassed in front of my pack members but being humiliated and rendered to nothing in the presence of the three other packs is a no-no for me.
I swerved around, rushing out of the door to cool my head before the start of the event but unfortunately, I forcefully collapsed into a hard figure, losing my balance. But before I could fall, firm rough hands gripped my waist, holding me steady.
I fell into his eyes, those deep black eyes sucking me in.
Daemon...
