CHAPTER 69 Why are You Here?

  Daemon's POV

I have sent Wilfred to go remind Rhea about the invite, I don't just want anything that will stop her from coming. I couldn't take her that day because of one thing_ it was the first time that she was begging me for something. I'm a cold hardened monster but around her, I seem to be powerless and vulnerable.

But today I have taken out my time to arrange and decorate my office. Trying to make everything special for her entrance, with the help of my secret spy I find out about her favorite color. I remodeled my office, repainting the walls from white to her favorite blue color.

Room decoration could be better but I know that having her visit me in the room will make her uncomfortable, so I decided to take the risk and do it in my office.

Setting in wall lighting and floor lamps around the office room with a rose flower sprinkled on the floor from the door straight inside the room.

I needed her to feel the bond, I wanted her to feel the connection that we both possessed with each other. I need to gain her love. "I just hope that this works, Sam," I mind-linked him.

This whole arrangement was his idea, this is my first time going out of my comfort zone just to please someone. The normal me could have gotten my mate since and have her ass here in my room. But after meeting her, her love was what I craved for.

"Yes, so what about the candles? Are you done with everything?" He asked through the link, I groaned, noticing that I have not even lightened the candles.

"This is damn stressful," I grumbled.

"Come on, is your mate so you do it," I hissed at him as I set up the candles. I was still setting in everything when one of the guards walked in and told me that I had a visitor from Blackwood Pack. On hearing the name of the pack, my excitement knew no bounds and I instructed him to let the person in without caring to know who it was.

So engrossed in my thoughts, the door was pulled open and the person walked in. I turned around expecting to see Rhea but my eyes widened in horror at the person standing in front of me.

What is he doing here? I stared behind him in search of Rhea but got nothing. I seemed to notice the shock looming around his face as he took in his surroundings.

"Why are you here?" My voice makes his eyes snap at my expressionless face. He chuckled, walking further inside the room.

"It's like you're throwing a party here, King Daemon," he said, his lips quirking up further in sarcasm.

I send a glare his way, maintaining the same tone, "Who allowed you in, Kian,"

"Your guards," he stopped pointing at the door before his gaze settled back on me, "Or am I not invited?" He asked amusingly when staring around the place.

"Are you expecting someone else? Well I have never pictured you as a lover boy," he chuckled, I curled my fists fighting the urge of snapping out his head.

"Fine, I know that you were not expecting me and I'm sorry for intruding on your privacy. I got a report from my wife that you invited her over but she couldn't make it so she sent me to represent her," he said and my heart got heavier. I don't believe him, Rhea can't send him here.

  "Isn't my wife so good?"

Immediately as the word left his lips, a vivid, brutal image of me strangling him to death pops into my head. My eyes flash a darker shade of gold indicating my wolf's presence and I notice him step back instantly in fear. Sam kept mind linking me to know whether she had come but I ignored him, holding myself from shoving the head of this man in front of me.

"I am sorry if I might have annoyed you but please, King Daemon can we get straight to business?" He said the word as he swallowed past the lump in his throat.

I wanted to say something but remembering that my mate is still staying under his roof caused my wolf to let out a low growl startling him.

Staggering back he managed to steady his balance, his eyes widened in shock as he stared at me.

"Where is she?" I asked, I don't think I am any longer in control of myself. I know that he knows who I am talking about but he decided to play dumb by giving me a puzzled look.

The worst is that I didn't even shut my mind-link with Sam, so it is obvious that he is hearing every single thing that I am saying.

"Where is Rhea?" I asked the second time and his smile suddenly fell off replacing it with a frosty look. He went silent for a while as a frown made it to his face, he seemed lost in thought when staring at me.

I frown at his reaction as he averts his eyes, "Did she do anything wrong that eagerly makes you want to see her?"

"I am sorry for my wife's misconduct toward you, my king," he emphasizes that word **Wife** saying it in a way that will infuriate me.

"Don't!" My expression darkened as I spoke, growling a single word as his amused eyes stared back at me.

He seemed to know something, does he know that I am mated to Rhea? He seemed to know something.

I stared at him in anger, rage scooting out from me. As much as I wanted to keep calm, I just couldn't. I so much wanted to wipe off that smug face.

But before I could react, the office door opened and Sam rushed in. "What is going on?" He asked, looking worried, "I heard you growling...

He swallowed the remaining words as he followed the direction of my eyes, anger flashes through his eyes as they settled on an amused-looking Kian.

"Alpha Kian, why are you here?"

"I came for business affairs, right, King Daemon," he said with amusement, earning a warning growl from me.

Sam creased his eyebrow before muttering for him to leave, "Fine, sorry but you can see that the King is not in the best mood for any business discussion right now... So please leave," Sam managed to say every word, keeping his emotions at bay.

"Oh! Yeah, I have to go back to my wife then," a rumble erupts through my chest at his word. But before I could match toward him, Sam rushed toward my side in a flash holding me back. The panicked look on Kian's face disappeared, replacing it with a mischievous grin.

"Nice meeting you," he sneered with a grin before leaving my office. But why does it seem like he was speaking contemptuously or should I say mockingly?

Turning to look at Sam, I wrenched his hands off me, "I need to be left alone," I latched out harshly, turning my back to him.
