Daemon's POV
Fuck it!
Cursing I kept smashing the flower vases on the wall, yanking down the wall lighting, and having them pieces on the floor.
I punched the wall hard, growling in the process, my head feels like it is pulling away. This is just not me... Why can't I just have her? Why does having her seem hard to accomplish?
Ahh! I stamped hard on the lighting candles on the floor, causing them to break into two slides. Holding the chairs there, I continued damaging and shattering everything in anger till Sam rushed and held me from behind.
"So tell me why Kian is here instead of the wife?" Sam demanded, yelling while paying deaf ears as if he didn't hear when I said that I wanted to be left alone. "And what did he mean by business discussion, I thought that you invited Luna Rhea so tell me why he is here?"
He asked and that made me turn around to face him. He stared at me dead in the eyes in determination while demanding answers but I instantly hurled my stare back at him in a warning. Sometimes, Sam acts like my father, wanting to know everything about me or detecting right from wrong in my life and that always annoys the shit out of me.
Besides this whole thing was his fault, if not his constant decline I should have long dragged Rhea's ass here by now. And now he has come up with this silly arrangement.
"Bro," he called, his voice softening. I sighed looking into the thin space as I tried to control my beast. And that's when the door opened and Wilfred walked in, looking all excited.
His happiness knew no bounds that he didn't even feel the shift in the air, the tension roaming around the room.
"What?" Sam was the first to ask as we both raised our brows at the overly excited Wilfred. "Why so excited?"
"Guess what?" He said grinning, I averted my gaze from him with a sigh as I started walking toward the couch. I don't think that I am in the mood for pleasantries or beating around the bush. "How is your visit to the Blackwood pack?" I went straight to the point, my voice deep and cold as usual.
"And going there was the best thing that you have actually done for me," he said excitedly, confusing Sam and me. We both snapped our heads at him with creased eyebrows.
"Did you deliver the message to Rhea?" I asked, eager to know if she really sent Kian here intentionally or if he was just lying because nothing makes sense to me.
"No, I didn't," he mumbled with a low tone, but then how did Kian know that I invited Rhea because he didn't walk into us when I told her that? "But I saw her assistant… Sorry, I mean her maid and relay the information to her,"
My eyebrow twitched slightly as I tried to put one or two together for clear understanding, "Did you walk into anybody there?" I asked, and that widened his grin.
"Why so happy?" Sam scorned.
"Yes, I walked into my mate and Alpha Kian," he announced, and the office suddenly went quiet. I stiffened surprised to hear that from him **His mate** my heart throbbed hard, I guess it is not Rhea. No, he said that he didn't get to meet her.
"Was it her personal maid?" Sam was the one to suddenly ask the question but Wilfred shook his head in disapproval.
"Then who?" I asked. My face hardened, noticing the way her excited face suddenly changed to a frown. "What happened; did she reject you?" Sam cracked up, causing Wilfred and I to both glares at him.
He sure doesn't know what mate bond means because he hasn't experienced anything like that.
"Fine," he groaned, lifting his hands as a sign of showing how deeply sorry he was.
"I didn't get to know her name, not after seeing how intimate she seems with Kian," he mumbled the last part heartbrokenly.
"Kian!!" Sam and I both bark out in unison. Wilfred quickly pulled his gaze toward us, his face coloring in confusion. "What happened_ I can detect the hatred in your voices?"
"Fuck that bastard," I cursed, pacing around the room while murmuring out a series of curses from my lips. Sam groaned, tilting his head in another direction and I believe that's when Wildred noticed his surroundings... The sprinkled roses on the floor and the half-damaged stuff shattering around the area.
He scanned the place before lifting his gaze for answers, but of course, I wasn't in the mood for an explanation. Is it that Kian can't just find his own mate or what? Now is Wilfred's mate, does he really want to fish in every hole before his hormones will calm down? Why act like a wolf in heat?
"Hmmm... The thing is that the so-called Kian is also with Daemon's mate," Sam shrugged, earning a surprised gasp from Wilfred.
"Mate... Kian," he stammered, trying to absorb the statement. Recognition flashes through his eyes and that's when he snapped his head at me, "You have a mate, Daemon,"
We all sat on the couch in my office chair across from each other, I already had the guards cleared up the room, trashing every single item away. Seeing them just outrages me, at the end of the day my effort was just wasted because she wasn't here...
"I just can't believe that you're mated to Luna Rhea and none of you told me," Wilfred suddenly voiced out, sounding pained.
We all might be close but I have this strong bond and deep connection with Sam. And that's why we are closer than Wilfred.
"Now you have heard, so the issue at hand is what we are supposed to be focusing on," Sam snapped but Wilfred retorted back with a sneer, "I deserve to know!"
I would love to be any other place apart from here, my mind is running around in chaos but their bantering isn't helping at all. I watched with bored looks as Sam and Wilfred got into a heated argument.
I sighed ignoring them, who didn't know Sam's constant teasing toward Wilfred since childhood. They never got along in childhood but after making both my beta and gamma their relationship seems more cool now than before ... Well, I don't mean all that cool because they continued their bantering, snarling at each other, and that irritates me.
"Enough!" I growled loudly, already aggravated at their childish banter. The room suddenly went quiet as they moved back, baring their necks in submission.
"Sorry for our misconduct," Sam apologized, and my fang retreated back causing the aura in the room to loosen a bit.
"But how do you go about this whole thing, because according to the whole world, she is married?" Wilfred questioned, his lips pulled up in anger.
Oh... My sweet innocent Rhea, I have always had this nagging feeling in my heart that all is not well since the first day I set my eyes on her. So sad, I can't reach her and claim her but I can still allure her to come to me willingly. I just can't wait to sink my fang into that delicate neck of hers and claim her as mine while making sweet tender love to her.
"The problem is just that cursed Alpha maggot that she thinks is her mate, if only I can get rid of him without her knowledge. His presence alone is making it hard for me to get Rhea and he is obstructing a lot for me with his presence. He is just like a thorn in my flesh," I latched out as my beast craved every drop of his blood.
"I can't wait because he seems to have this," Wilfred said, exaggerating with his hands, "He seemed to have this close connection with my mate, I can feel it there,"
Sam averted his gaze from him and refocused on me, "So what do we do now?" Wilfred asked. "This is serious and from what you guys just explained we can't just fold hands like that,"
"I'm surprised that you haven't done anything, Daemon, this is unlike you," he shook his head in annoyance.
"We can't just let this happen!" He voiced out, "Remember that we Lycans only have one mate and nothing like a second chance mate,"
At the mention of the last word, my eye pulled up instantly. He is right, a lot is at stake; my future and that of my pack. If anything should happen to her that means that I have to choose a wife to have my pup and nothing makes the pack stronger than having the rightful mate beside you.
"Daemon, we need to strike and fucking end that maggot," Wilfred insisted.
"No, dragging her forcefully out of her own will is not something that should be done, remember that she has lived all her years thinking that the Alpha maggot is her mate. We just need a way to earn her love," Sam suggested.
I snapped my head at him in anger, his constant silly advice is the reason why my mate is still not here with me today. I have always appreciated Sam's smartness and wisdom but right now I am not buying those ideas of his.
He doesn't know what having a mate feels like and I believe that is why he is sounding like this. And earning her love is something that I knew that there is no way it would be possible. Nothing can change her mind or narrative that the maggot is not her mate without the presence of her wolf. I had to do what had to be done.
I stood still, my eyes ruthlessly cold, showing no emotions. "Wilfred is right, I can't afford any mistakes. I can't risk my future and that of my pack," I stared at their faces one after the other, noticing the stunned and worried look flashing across Sam's eyes.
"I have been reluctant but right now I have to put an end to this. Not only is he with my mate but now he is also after Wilfred's mate,"
I turned to face Sam, "I believe once you find your mate, you will understand what it feels like not having her beside you, and that day you will applaud me for fighting for what belongs to me," without saying much, I left the office, roving through the hallway toward my chamber.
