CHAPTER 83 Unexpected

  Rhea's POV

The door to the dining room opened and we were greeted by two guards, and they quietly stepped aside upon seeing our faces.

Daemon spared me a quick glimpse, noticing how my body suddenly shivered.

I know he knows the reason, the dining area is already filled with Lycans of all kinds. The atmosphere will surely intimidate me, I guess.

The noise suddenly died down and the entire crowd turned quiet and all eyes were on us, well practically on me. I could already feel a mixture of hatred and anger on some of their faces, except Sam and Wilfred.

Well, I didn't expect them to jump up and start welcoming me in open arms when every single soul knows about my marriage with Kian and here I am all wrapped in the hands of their king... That's a sultry move if you ask me.

And this fucking bastard caused it, I rolled my eyes at him in my head while putting on a fake smile to hide how tense I am feeling right now.

Placing his hand behind my back, he helped and guided me to the dining. "Welcome," Sam greeted all smiley and Wilfred gave me a small welcoming nod.

"Welcome, King Daemon, we have been waiting for you," one of the Lycans across the table spoke up, amassing a noise from the once quiet Lycans. They were chatting and murmuring, making it as if presence doesn't matter, I can see the disappointment on their faces. How gloomy and dark their expression seemed.

It hurts but it is not like I could do anything, I just wanted the ground to widely open and swallow me up. I gulped down, clenching my gown tight. I think Sam noticed and I think he mindlinked Daemon because he instantly went stiff beside me.

"Sit," he pulled out the chair as a gentleman that just found love, my face instantly heated up forgetting that I was still in these angry-looking Lycans until I noticed the disgusted look on their faces. The blush on my face instantly faded away, I gulped down and sat down.

Daemon pulled out another chair by my side and sat down before motioning for everyone to start eating. The sound of cutleries was heard as they all engaged in the food in front of them.

There were a lot of dishes displayed on top of the table in front of us, and I will admit that the cook is a very talented person because the aroma worsened the grumbling sound on my stomach. The food was inviting but the look on those lycans eyes seemed to make it hard for me to hold my cutlery well.

"Eat," Daemon ordered dreary, I tightened my grip around the cutlery. Sam and other eyes were on me watching my every move and one thing I don't need them to see how tense I am or the effect their presence has on me.

Picking up the food, I slowly placed it in my mouth and fuck...! The food melted in my mouth and the aroma was so out of this world that I nearly let out a moan but Sam's words pulled me together.

"So how is the food?" He asked, and surprisingly, I suddenly mute. The question was unexpected, "Is something wrong with the food? Should I punish the cook?"

I snapped my head at him, the Lycans there had stopped eating and their attention was now on me and I couldn't miss the disgusted look they were giving me. What is Daemon trying to do? He is putting me in the limelight and these people are also seeing another reason to hate me more.

"King Daemon, Caroline has been cooking for us for years now and you want to change her just because of a mere sultry woman..."

And just in a flash, I heard the chair beside me knocked down and Daemon standing beside the Lycan that just spoke up.

"DAEMON...!!" An unexpected scream flew out from my lips as I noticed a painful growl erupt from the Lycan's lips. Daemon's nails have sunk deep into his neck and one more penetration will have the Lycan killed.

"Hey, bro," Sam tried saying a word but under the cold eyes of Daemon, he instantly shut up and shrink back to his seat.

"You're hurting him," I said, the other Lycans already had fears looming around their eyes but their anger was still directed at me.

"I think that you have to go... meet him," Wilfred winked in the other direction. Every eye was on me, I just felt like the ground should just open, and swallow me up than in this deep trauma.

But before I could stand up, Daemon instantly pushed the Lycan to the ground. "Ah... ahh," the throbbing cry of the Lycan can be heard.

I was still half standing when he slowly stopped behind me, placing his hand on top of my shoulder. I shivered at his touch, "From today henceforth, anybody that I will find or see saying ill about her will be beheaded instantly,"

I went rigid and the same happens to everyone present, the room was suddenly filled with silence. I blink my eyes hoping that Daemon won't keep up with this whole thing.

"And," rubbing my shoulder, he slowly helped me back to my seat. "From today, the same respect that is accorded to me will also go to her,"

They all swirled their heads to stare at me, and at this moment my face was dampened in embarrassment. I'm already married and have a mate, what is he doing? More reason for them to roast me in pure hatred.

There was this uncomfortable silence in the room after he was done and everyone resumed eating. I wasn't all that relaxed, the food could barely pass down my throat. Couldn't continue this thing anymore, I instantly placed my cutlery on the table drawing everyone's attention. I guess I just lost my appetite, "I am no longer hungry," I announced not attempting to look at any of their faces.

"Rhea..." he let out a warning growl. Ignoring him, I quickly walked past the dining area and strode away.
