Wilfred's POV
I heard everything that went on between Luna Rhea and my mate, Lila. I heard their every single conversation and I felt my heart pieces at every word that left their lips.
The exposure was the one that hurt most, after Luna Rhea left the dinner area, I noticed how uncomfortable the place was for her, especially after Daemon's announcement which even worsened her mood.
I watched her leave the place ignoring Daemon's growls and calls which left a confused and suspicious mask on the faces of the other Lycans in the room, well except Sam.
Daemon instantly walked out from the dinner area, a minute after Rhea ambled away. I didn't blame him, I sometimes admire his patience and calculating nature of tolerating and watching his mate in the arms of another for months.
Not that long, Sam stood up and left and of course, I was left alone with the other Lycans. Their curious look was on me knowing that I will eventually be the next to walk away and yes... I didn't intend to prove them wrong, so I stood up and left.
Striding through the hallway and that's when I started hearing some bantering and harsh words and the scent of my mate was everywhere.
Slowly taking conscious steps, I inched closer, thinking that she might be in trouble but to my surprise I noticed the dangerous glare both she and Rhea were hurling at each other. Nobody needs to tell me that something is going on.
I wanted to step forward but the next words that left Rhea's lips hooked me on my spot and had my heart clenched in sharp pain.
"The same man that you couldn't resist to warm his bed," she glared, and Lila's smile widened. "And here you stand lecturing me on how I left him in the pack, what suddenly changed? Have you lost tricks on how to satisfy him?"
I was tongue-tied, stunned, and paralyzed... My attention was fixed directly on her wishing for her to protest and oppose the allegation but her smile widened showing that she accepted every single thing said by Rhea.
"Is not my fault that I was helping your husband, performing the duty that you couldn't handle, and of course after the marathon sex he couldn't resist me,"
My eyes snapped at her, I was deadpanned... Everything is starting to make sense to me, I have heard stories about Kian having a lot of mistresses and ill-treatment toward Rhea and that very day I first saw Lila. She was coming out from a room with Kian.
Wait... Is she one of his mistresses? I staggered holding the pillar as I watched them, I felt pain for Rhea. She must have been through a lot, the constant humiliation and every other thing.
Their words were much, the worst is that Lila didn't even care, she is dangerous and evil. If not for the mate bond I don't think that I can stand her guts. When I decided to turn around and leave I heard a tingling slap echo through the hallway pulling my attention back to them.
"Ahh... What?!" Lila's scream almost made me rush out to the scene and pulled her out **f*****g mate bond** but almost out from the hidden spot, I suddenly heard Daemon and Sam, swiveling around. I saw them heading toward the scene.
I hide back, I'm sure that they might have heard or known that the so-called mate of mine was one of Kian's mistresses that have contributed to Rhea's misery and here I was plotting on how to end Kian for taking advances on my mate without knowing that it was the other way round.
Poor Rhea.
"What is going on here?" I lifted my head and watched Daemon query them. He cast Lila a sharp glare making her shrink back in fear before his gaze settled on Rhea who gave him a long stare and walked away.
However, Daemon rushed toward her and it was left only Sam and Lila.
"Hmm..." Sam chuckled, "Why do the moon goddess kind to you by mating you to my brother, Wilfred, that kind-hearted soul after all you did to our Luna?"
Sam's words took me unaware. I am surprised because I never got that along and here he was thinking about me. Honestly, I felt my heart soften.
"The moon goddess has always been nice to sensible people and besides she knows that I can never settle for the least," my grip tightened around the pillar in anger, I noticed how clenched Sam's jaw seemed but he still managed to pull on a blank expression.
"Well, is none of my business but don't you think you owe Luna Rhea an apology,"
"Never!" She snapped but under Sam's cold eyes, she shrunk back when fiddling with her nails.
"You hurt her badly, so better go and apologize," he turned to leave, "Please wait... Where can I see Gamma Wilfred?" She patted her long lashes seductively, staring at her Sam turned around and started walking away not even caring to answer her.
"Ahh," she stomped her feet on the ground like a spoiled brat and strode toward the other passageway that might lead to my office if she walks in the right direction.
I don't think that I am in the right mindset to see her right now, I have a lot to think and the worst is how do I stand Rhea knowing that my mate has caused her nothing but pain and anguish.
