Daemon's POV
Once I was done with whatever I was doing in the office, I stride back to my cabin. It was already night and last as well. I am sure that Rhea would have gone to bed.
Reaching the front of my cabin, I noticed the guards that I have assigned her standing fit at the door, on seeing me they were all both submissively. I pushed the door and entered inside but to my utmost surprise, Rhea was not on the bed. This is late. She should be in bed sleeping.
"Mate!" I called out thinking that she might just be in the latrine but got no response.
I got worried and walked toward the latrine, I pushed the door open and noticed that she wasn't there. I went to the closet and she was not there either.
I panicked, where could she be by this time of the night? But her guards are out there which means that she might be here somewhere... But where? I spun around to scan the room and suddenly I felt the cold wind hit my face, it was chilling outside and the window was open.
Wait! The window is open, I look in that direction and something got my attention, a rope tied at the edge of the window. I hope my mind is not playing tricks on me... I hope this is not what I am thinking.
I strode toward the window and saw that the rope fell out from the inside to the outside almost above the ground.
I looked down and noticed that the guards suited outside were not anywhere in sight. Anger and fear kicked in... She escaped.
"Rhea!!" I let out a thunderous growl that I am sure might have shaken my pack.
I rushed out of the room, my palm connecting with the first guard outside the room. "Ahhh," he fell to the ground holding his cheeks.
Others crawl back in fear, "Where is my mate?!" I look murderous.
"Huh," they seemed confused.
"Where is Luna Rhea?!" I yelled, "I assigned you people to protect her and never to leave her side so tell me how come she wasn't in her room," I barked out.
"We saw her enter inside this night," my palm instantly collided with the next guard that spoke up. I seemed furious and that might have alerted Sam because I saw him rushing in our direction.
"Where are those fools assigned to stand outside the compound in front of my window?" I asked no one in particular.
"What's it?" He was quick to ask, looking at the injuries on the faces of the guards lying behind me. "Rhea sneaked out," I roughly pulled my hair.
"What? How?"
I stared at the guards and then back at me, I already knew what was in his mind, "She escaped through the window," I puffed.
I was talking with Sam when one of the guards rushed toward us, "My King, I saw the guards that were supposed to secure the other part besides your window sleeping at the warehouse,"
"Excuse me," Sam exclaimed surprisingly.
"Sleeping," I snapped.
"They seemed to have been poisoned with sleeping pills," he announced, Sam and I both exchanged a knowing look.
"Sleeping pills, " I repeat, "Rhea can't do that,"
"That means someone helped her escape," Sam points out.
That's true, an insider might have helped her escape. This is fucking with my head right now. "Who could that be?" He asked.
"I don't care who it is?" I shrieked, "That's not the point right now... we need to start heading to Blackwood Pack right away, enough of this nonsense," I swear I saw the smile on his face immediately after I decided to visit the pack.
I turned to the guards in there, "Drag those guards in the warehouse to the dungeon, they will remain there till further notice," I walked back into my room to pick up certain things.
The next day we left for the Blackwood Pack with Sam and some of my warriors. Wilfred is still going through pain so he couldn't join us.
I heard that today there is a moonlight festival, so the arrival of the pack wasn't that long. Seeing us his warriors quickly opened the gate for us to drive in. I could say that the pack was neatly arranged maybe because of the celebration of the moonlight.
However, I was still in the car when I saw Kian walking inside the packhouse, I quickly slid out of the car and rushed toward him all thanks to my Lycan speed.
"Where is my mate?" I blocked his path, taking him by surprise.
He turned to stare at me and then at Sam and the other warriors before returning his gaze to me, "What are you doing here?"
Rhea's POV
It was almost the moonlight festival and of course, I was trapped inside my room as usual. The windows are locked up and I couldn't peep to know what is happening inside or to get the reflection from the moon.
I could hear noises from outside and I knew that it was time for the festival. I so much wished I could witness today's festival, I sat on my bed pondering on the reason why I didn't have a wolf. Yes, I have come to accept my fate but sometimes I do wish that I had a wolf.
And suddenly just like a flash, I felt something stir inside me. First I decided to shove off the feeling thinking that I was just exaggerating but then again the feeling worsened. I held onto my chest tight, squeezing my clothes in the process. What is happening to me? The thing inside me was bugging me to go outside.
I can hear a tiny voice in my head murmuring "Outside... outside,"
The full moon gives wolves more strength and the last time I stepped outside during the moonlight festival I almost ran mad that I was termed a crazy Luna and I just don't want that again.
