CHAPTER 15 Enjoying The View, Mate?

  Damien's POV

"I will pick up that nurse's outfit tomorrow, Red!" I winked, heading out the door she held open for me, turning in the hallway to lean up the doorframe; looking at her, I could see the dark circles forming under her eyes. I guess it had been a long few days for her. "Make sure you lock this behind me." I nodded towards the door, keeping my tone gentle, not wanting to scare her, but frankly, I wasn't comfortable leaving her here. "This neighbourhood isn't the best; there are some right crazies that hang around in these parts."

"Yeah, one of them is at my door right now!" She teased with a roll of her beautiful emerald eyes. "And one lives just over there." She grinned, lowering her voice. Her girlish giggle had me smiling. She was adorable!

"My point exactly!" My lips curled up into a smirk, I didn't want to leave, but she needed rest! "Night Red." Nodding towards the door, I stepped back from the doorframe. "Lock it! Ok!"

"Yes, sir, right now, sir." She laughed, stepping aside and closing the door. Hearing her walk away, I shook my head, rapping my knuckles on the door loudly.

"LOCK THE DAMN DOOR, RED," I growled more intensely than I meant to.

"Oh. My. God! Ok, Ok! Control freak or what!" I smiled, hearing the door lock click, relief spreading through me, knowing she was as safe as possible!

"You're welcome, Red!" I laughed, resting my forehead against the door; her sweet voice breezed through the door, making my heart instantly ache to see her again.

"For what?" Her apparent confusion made me grin wickedly.

"Keeping you safe!" Turning to walk off. I shook my head with a low chuckle, amused at my little Ruby gem.

"Whatever!" I didn't need to see her to know she was rolling those perfect eyes of hers at me again.

Continuing down the hall, I made my way down the stairwell, taking the steps two at a time. Looking around at the dump as I went, the dust that coated the light fittings, the peeling wallpaper, and the poor paint jobs that had obviously not been seen to in years. The damp and black mould clinging to the windows a strong indication that no one gave a shit about this dump! Or the safety of those in it. Although judging by the domestics I could hear coming from behind the closed doors as I walked down the stairs, I was confident that those inside this hellhole could look after themselves, Red included!

And not just because she was feisty, tenacious, and apparently incredibly courageous, but because she was an angel! I knew what she was the second I entered the room this morning, finding her on the floor with a cut to her porcelain skin. I could smell the angelic blood like a beacon calling me! She wasn't the first angel I had met, but she was the first angel of light and dark I had come across. I could sense the purity in her blood, but it was the darkness that tainted it that had piqued my interest. She was so beautifully unique.

And if I could sense what she was, it wouldn't be long before others would come for her! I needed her safe or at least a way to keep a watchful eye on her! She might not take her safety seriously, but I intended to!

Pushing the door open, I paused in the doorway, the stench of human feces assaulting my senses. Looking to the parking lot, I gritted my teeth, seeing a drunken imbecilic taking a piss up a wall. His hands against the wall supported his swaying body on the floor beside his puddle of piss, a sleeping bag, and what looked like enough alcohol to knock him out for the night.

"Enjoying the view, mate?" He slurred, turning to face me, shaking his cock around, foul-smelling urine painting the walkway.

"Not particularly." I barked back, looking around the area to find something to redeem this shithole.

"Want a closer look, Perv?" A toothless grin spread across his filthy face; he was unmistakably looking for a fight!

"You could be an inch from my face 'mate,' and I still wouldn't know what the fuck I was looking at!" I informed him with a bored tone, continuing to look around. "So how about you take your shrivelled-up maggot and fuck off." I finished, my eyes falling on the apartment building opposite.

"Maybe I should show it to that pretty thing you arrived with. I bet she'd know what to do with it!" He laughed hysterically. "I bet she'd like it too!"

"Say that again; I dare you!" I hissed venomously, the air around us charged with raw electricity." Go on!" I wanted him to repeat it, I needed him to, but his bravado was fading even in his drunken state. "Go on… Say it!" I roared.

"I was joking, man. Come on." He stammered, leaning back against the wall as I strode towards him purposely, anger rippling off me in waves, his eyes focusing on me, began to widen with alarm.

"Nah, MAN," I mocked, standing directly before him, squaring my shoulders. I could see in his eyes that I intimidated him, the colouring draining from his dirty face. "Say. It. Again." I seethed into his ear, the stench of piss and grime offending my senses.

"I... could… show… it… to... your… friend!" He stammered, fear clawing at his throat. My blood boiled furiously, adrenaline and anger fuelling my jealousy. As quick as a flash, my hand gripped his throat, lifting him off the ground. His fingers clawed at the flesh of my hands, tearing my skin. My blood pooled over our hands, making his fingers slip clumsily as they tried to free him from my iron hold. I could feel him trembling under my grasp, tightening my grip on his fragile airways with a sadistic grin.

"I could snuff you out, here and now! And no one would miss you! You know that, right?" Terror sealed his throat, but his eyes shined with horror. Squeezing harder, I laughed, pushing him back against the wall; my eyes glowed with the beast I kept hidden deep within. My green hues were slowly being swallowed by a fiery blood-red fire. I wanted to rip him limb from limb, but I knew better than to let my beast take over; once the beast was out of its box... there was no getting it back in, and I didn't trust it this close to my ruby angel given his recent behaviour.

Deciding to squeeze the life out of this piece of shit and dump him in the forest on the other side of the parking lot. It would be a nice twist knowing a body would turn up, murdered in Blue Moon Packs territory. I can't say I wouldn't get a kick out of seeing Maxwell and his self-righteous son taken down a peg or two. Tightening my grip, feeling his flesh swell around my large hand, showing no mercy to this drain on society, I squeezed almost all the air from his lungs.

I could sense eyes upon me from behind us, boring into my back, angry, bitter eyes. Throwing the panic-riddled loser to the floor in his own puddle of piss, I turned to look at the forest. Ignoring the human scum at my feet, clutching for air, stepping over him as he lost consciousness from the panic. Brushing off the filth from his skin on my jeans, I approached the edge of the parking lot that ran alongside the forest and the Blue Moon's Pack border.

"Something to say, wolf boy?" I challenged into the forest, the sun had just begun to set, casting the forest in a hazy glow, but my eyes narrowed in on a set of jet-black eyes stalking me in the distance.

"No? Thought not" Waiting a minute for the wolf that I sensed to make itself known, it didn't as I suspected!

"Pathetic." I laughed arrogantly, vanishing silently, bored with this wolf's schoolyard drama.
