CHAPTER 44 Count of 5!

  Abigail's POV

Jolting up right from a deep sleep, confusion whizzing around my head: moments ago, I had been in a different realm made of glass towers, a realm so delicate I was scared I would shatter it with my clumsy feet. I wasn't alone, though; I was with... the darkness! Memories poured back into my mind of the heinous crimes I had inflicted on people. People of this town! On whim! Closing my eyes to hold the tears at bay, I realised that the thunderous banging I had woken up to was not in my dream but on my apartment door!

"GO AWAY!" I grumbled, turning over on the sofa; a reminder of the night before played through my mind; I had fallen asleep with Damien! Curled up next to him! Looking around slowly, the banging had momentarily stopped; I gave my eyes a second to focus, hoping they would find Damien's confident grin, one I had grown to adore over the last few days. Maybe he had moved to sleep on the chair or floor or even had to pee!

"Damien, can you get it? My body is sore from last night!" Hearing the noisy attack on my door again, I groaned loudly; the aggression put into the hammering on the flimsy wood became more irate, making me wince. Pulling my aching body up from the sofa after a night of uncomfortable sleep. I quickly glanced around the apparently empty apartment. Fear crept into my mind as I realised that Damien wasn't there! Had he bailed on me?

Jumping as I got to the door seeing its hinges snapping under the brutal force sending the door across the room.

"What the fuck?" I exclaimed in shock. Looking at my door lying across my living room floor in pieces. Turning slowly to the doorway, I froze, seeing Jason standing there with a face like thunder.

"You know you are paying for that! RIGHT!" I hissed, eyeing the male who appeared beside Jason; attractive in a tall, dark and handsome kind of way, but his eyes were golden like the sun! Darkness and light! Seeing him stand observing his impatient friend, I made a mental note that the look on his face was not one of encouragement but more- of embarrassment and for that reason! I liked him!

"I mean fuck me, Jason..." I started to say, irritated by the turn of events.

"That's ok; I hear that's Damien's job now!" Narrowing my eyes at him, confused by his anger that was unquestionably aimed towards me.

"Excuse me?" I snapped, crossing my hands around my chest, feeling vulnerable suddenly in front of these two males in my pj's.

"Why did you ask about the church yesterday?" Jason snapped, ignoring me. Shooting him a look that said I was not impressed with his behaviour, nor was I willing to discuss the irrational and highly emotional dreams I had been having with him.

"Wow, your mood swings are enough to challenge that of Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde! I would like you to leave!" I snapped, turning my back on them, letting them know this conversation was over. Feeling his grip on the back of my neck, I winced, crying out in pain, feeling him lift my delicate feet off the floor and carry me to the filthy window that looked into town.

"WHAT DID YOU MEAN!" He hissed in my ear, making me shiver; all sexual chemistry from yesterday seemed to be gone as he roughly pushed my head up against the window, making me yelp in pain.

"Jason", I heard tall, dark and handsome warn from behind me.

"LOOK" He screamed, making me sob softly as I looked out of the window, seeing the black smoke rising from the centre of town. Fear licked up my spine; my stomach tightened in gut-wrenching agony. I could feel panic slowly eating at me, the recognition that my dream was not such a fantasy or nightmare as I had thought crippled me!

"How many died?" I asked through a moan turning my head to look at Jason, his face twisted in rage, but his eyes shone with sorrow. Archer hid behind his eyes, letting me know he wanted to help me, but Jason had shut him out. I knew that much without even delving into his head.

"Why don't you tell me!" He roared, flinging me back against the wall beside the window, pinning me to it with his body, his hands restraining mine against the filthy wallpaper; looking at him, I felt my heart sink at the fury that twisted his face. Turning my head away, I looked out of the window, but Jason's sharp grasp lifted my hands above my head, pinning them in one of his large hands. His free hand twisted my chin back, his eyes boring into me as if trying to understand me.

"YOU did this?" He yelled out angrily.

"No", I snivelled, heartbroken that he thought this of me, that he thought so little of me that he had to roughen me up to get me to talk.

"I don't believe you!" He roared, putting his face a cat's whisker distance from mine. "And I don't believe the crocodile tears either- What are you? A Witch? Demon?" He quizzed curiously.

"Jason", Tommy's voice tried to soothe him before I heard him gasp for air. Jason gripped my neck, tightening his hold, making my eyes water. I knew if I wanted to, I could push him off, use my wings to defend myself.. but if I was the one to sire those flames, if I had taken those lives, then I deserved every ounce of Jason's wrath.

"I have no issue with killing either of you; in fact, I would enjoy it, but I promise if you leave a mark on her, I will make it slow, and then I will kill everyone you love." Came a deathly calm voice behind Jason, a voice I recognised instantly.

"Damien", I tried to say, but Jason's iron-tight grip refused to lighten up even as he turned to look at Damien, who had Tommy held up against the door frame with one hand, the other hand cradled a brown bag filled with food from what I could see.

"So, This can go one of two ways, I can snap this little fur ball's neck, or you can step the fuck away from her," he exclaimed calmly, but the look on his face told me he meant every word.

"The choice is yours- Kiddo, but I am going to count to 5!"

"1..." Damiens's grip on Jason's friend's throat tightened as the man's wolf tried to shine through, his eyes turning a harrowing shade of yellow.

"2..." Leaning down, he placed the shopping bag on the floor, his grip never wavering on the stranger's throat. I looked between Jason and Damien, fearing another life would be lost if we weren't careful.

"3..." Standing up, he grinned, seeing the stranger's eyes shine brightly like the sun. "Tut tut! No wolf healing abilities, thank you" Clicking his fingers, an agonising scream came from his prisoner's mouth his eyes slowly dimmed.

"4... How are we doing, Red?" Damien provoked, making me nervous; something in his tone told me he was deadly serious! "Is your pride really worth your friend's life?" Jason turned to face me, both of us unsure of what Damien would do if he didn't let go of me; with a final look over his shoulder, he let me go. Sucking down air, I fell to the floor, grasping at my throat.

"Ok, I have let her go- release him," Jason demanded, but before any one could comprehend what was happening, Damien had something shiny in his hand; as quick as breathing, he had stabbed Jason's accomplice in the chest before throwing him away like a discarded piece of gum.

"In future, you obey on 1!" He growled mercilessly, stepping over the crumpled body of Jason's companion.
