Abigail's POV
You'd think I was some precious stone the way Damien seemed to safeguard me; we would have to have words when Jason had gone because this was ridiculous, his lack of compassion for human life bothered me! He has only known me for a few days and had just tried to kill some, because of me! I understand that wolves tend to imprint very quickly on their mates, but from what I heard between Jason and Archer, Damien was not a wolf!
He was a demon!
Something I prayed was just a slang word or term of 'endearment', but given his impulsiveness, possessiveness and predisposition for murder, I was starting to wonder if what I had heard in Jason's mind was right! And if it was, how did I feel about that? Because on the surface, I seemed to be brushing it under the carpet! But if Damien was evil and I was not.. or at least I hoped I wasn't, how was this... whatever it was that was growing between him, and I expected to work!
I had hoped we had escaped the possibility of round two; however, given the rage that was orbiting around Damien right now, I had a feeling it would take much more than a strict telling-off from me to get him to park his drama with Jason!
My body absolutely ached; I felt like I had gone ten rounds with Mike Tyson, which trying to referee these two clowns was not much different. Taking a deep breath, I waited for it to all kick off again hearing Damien's loaded question; but what I had not expected, however, was for Jason to shift the buck onto me.
"Ask your bed buddy here," He ground out. Lifting my eyes to meet him, unable to hide the pain, I frowned, deciding to park my question about what he meant till later; the last thing I needed now was to stir the pot.
"It was the sofa- actually," Damien provoked, shooting him a furious glare I turned my attention back to the men who crowded my apartment.
"Look, I get you all have a few questions."
"A few?" Jason laughed sarcastically. "Try a lot, Ab's," Nodding to him in agreement wanting to appease his anger a little, I felt like the room was already so charged that it only needed a tiny spark to set it ablaze! And there had been enough fires for one day!
"I don't know what to say", I admitted nervously. "Or where to start."
"Yesterday, you were asking questions about the church.. right? Why?" Tommy asked, slowly pulling himself up off the wall; seeing the shimmer of yellow behind his eyes, I smiled, relieved that his wolf had returned; at least now I wasn't alone in stopping tweedle dum and tweedle dee ripping shreds out of each other.
"Before I bumped into you yesterday," Looking at Jason, I nodded, "I had a dream of a church ablaze. When I went inside, the flames parted around me, welcoming me. Inside were women, children, and, I think, elderly, all chained to the pews. I watched them burn... It was.. heartbreaking, but I thought it was just a dream until I saw the church with you after lunch."
Feeling Damien tense as he came and stood beside me, I breathed slowly, not wanting to rub salt in either man's wound, but these were the facts. "I wasn't alone in the church; there was... a darkness there," I added, wincing nervously; relief spread through me seeing all three males giving me time to talk and explain before shooting questions at me.
"When I went to sleep again last night, I had the same dream; although it was different, I wasn't in control of it... the darkness was. It manipulated my dream; it wanted me to believe I had caused the fire, I had chained those people up, I had killed them... but I didn't! I wouldn't... It was the darkness... I think." I explained cautiously.
"Sound family Damien?" Jason asked, shaking his head in disgust. Confusion washed over me, seeing how the males all studied each other.
"What did it look like?" Damien asked matter of factly. I decided this would be a hard enough day without them asking me a million questions that I couldn't explain properly, so I decided just to show them, what harm could it do? They had already seen me use my powers to heal Tommy, and after the initial shock, they had not asked anything further. Although I knew they would
Joining Tommy and Jason at the little table, I held my hand out for them both; Tommy took it quickly without hesitation making me smile warily. I knew I liked him! Jason eventually followed suit.
"Sorry, Damien, She doesn't have enough hands for you." Jason blurted out a little too triumphantly.
"I can always grab on to something else." He grinned cheekily, giving me a sideways wink, before motioning with his eyes for me to stand up, which I did. "It's skin to skin contact you need, hmm,"
"Yes," I chuckled, expecting to see him hold his hand out to Jason and Tommy. Waiting patiently, I rolled my eyes at him dramatically, catching him grimacing at the offered hands.
"I am not touching their hands, Red. One) They are covered in blood, my outfit costs more than they earn in a year 2) Fuck knows what I will catch. No, here, this will work." He said with a charming smile pulling me into his lap; his hound wound around my bare stomach as he pulled me back against his muscular chest. Hearing Archer's growl, I guessed my face flushed under his touch, not as good at hiding the thrill as I wanted to believe I was.
Holding my hands out again, I nodded for the males to take them; closing my eyes, I let my mind empty until visions of my nightmares filled their minds. I had been careful not to include anything before the church, not wanting to give away what I was just yet! That was a conversation for when these three men weren't all contemplating murdering each other!
Sucking down a breath, I continued to let my vision pass through the link the four of us now shared, even the images of the creature pulling my hand to him, the searing hot pain that shot through me at his hot touch and the blistering mark it left behind. Feeling utterly overwhelmed by the devastation I had witnessed for a third time, I quickly let go of their hands and moved to stand against the wall.
"What are you?" Jason asked me nervously, and not for the first time, I noted.
"Why?" Tommy asked, glaring at Jason, "Does it matter? I can vouch for her if you like- she is not a threat! She won't hurt any of us!" He said with resolve making me smile, and Damien eyed him suspiciously.
"Do I look like I want to be in a love triangle, mate? No! So let's not get ideas about turning it into a square- huh?" He barked, but I knew from his tone he was teasing.
"It's not like that; I just... the power you used to heal me; I can still feel it inside me," Tommy said in awe, looking across at me. "You ARE good!" He smiled, obviously wanting to reassure me, and it did, a little. "I feel like I am filled with light!"
"And bullshit", Damien laughed, turning to look at me with a sneaky wink. "No one is just- good! They are both... it's the choices they make that define them, Red."
"So this darkness," Jason sighed, looking between Damien and Tommy. "Either of you recognise it? Because I sure as shit don't!"
"Nope!" Tommy stated quickly.
"Nah, my dad would have burnt the whole damn town down if he wanted to make a point, not just some weaklings." Damien acknowledged with a shrug. "He's a dick that way!"
"Didn't stop him last time..." Tommy snarled, making Damien laugh, slapping Tommy's shoulder jokingly.
"Touche mother fucker... but that was different. He wanted to deliver a message."
"And what was that?" Jason asked, his tone twisted with anger and resentment.
"Stay in your damn lane!"
