Jason's POV
"Look, son, I know..." My father started making me sigh and switch off from him- He didn't want me pursuing Abigail; it was the same shit I had heard for the twenty minutes; I couldn't wait for this car ride to end.
"Tough!" Archer grumbled in my head, making me snort; at least we were both on the same page for the first time in days. I hated it when we argued; until Ab's, we had been thick as thieves, our bond unbreakable.
"Too right, buddy." I laughed cockily, but seeing her and Damien together today, I knew this fight for her attention would most likely end in bloodshed. I just hoped it was a fight I could win. The way Damien dismissed Tommy's wolf earlier had me nervous; if he did that to Archer, I was fucked! It was that simple.
"I mean, the pack has to come before your dick, boy, you know that, right?" Coming back to reality, my father's voice cut through the tension in the car. Gripping the steering wheel, my knuckles turning white, I clenched my jaw, grinding my teeth.
"What are you thinking, Jason?" He asked, concern in his voice. "I know it wasn't nice to see her necking Damien..."
"Who even says necking anymore?" Tommy laughed from the backseat where he and his father sat. Looking at him in the mirror, he winked at me, letting me know he had my back and would find a way to shut my father up.
"Well, whatever you young kids call it- snogging, making out, smooching." He continued, but Tommy intervened again, his face scrunched up, his tone dripping with amusement.
"Come here, baby, let me smooch you!" His laugh filled the car; I could see Marcus rolling his eyes, returning to look out the window, no doubt looking for any potential threats. "Say it to Luna - I dare ya, big man!"
"Thomas- ok... What are the cool kids calling it?" My father asked, his tone frustrated, but I knew he loved Tommy for this exact reason: he was a sarcastic dick when the mood took him, never afraid to speak his mind.
"Lipsing!" He stated proudly, shooting me another wink making me shake my head and look back to the road.
"So.. SON... like I was saying." He paused for a second to eye Tommy carefully, obviously waiting for another sarcastic remark, but Tommy grinned and nodded, indicating he could continue.
"I know it was hard for you to see her... Lipsing... Damien."
"Did I say it right?" He asked, looking back at Tommy, genuinely invested.
"You did, big man - But... I think they were doing a bit more than lipsing, or at least they are now!" He snorted loudly.
"ENOUGH, or so help god, I will drive this car over the fucking creek with us all in it!" I groaned dramatically, looking over at my father before turning the radio up and silencing them.
"Just gonna point out Jay- Wolves can swim!" Tommy laughed before singing along to the radio. Taking a deep breath, I sat back in the seat, ignoring them.
Fifteen minutes later, we were back at the pack house; pulling up on the drive, I sighed slowly; this wasn't where I wanted to be; I wanted to be in that filthy apartment with my girl! Instead- HE was there! But there was a silver lining; it was her birthday tomorrow; she would be 18! This meant if she was my mate, which Arthur seemed to suspect she was, at least she would know it, and I could get her out of that prick's hands!
"And his bed", Archer snarled. Sighing, I headed into the pack house watching from the doorway as my father and Marcus sat on the large sofa, talking amongst themselves. Tommy disappeared to the kitchen, no doubt to feed his stomach- I swear that man had hollow legs. He was always hungry.
Looking between my Father and Marcus and the doorway Tommy had just slipped through; I decided to follow him, having excused the subject of Ab's and the darkness with my father. Slumping in the chair at the island, I watched Tommy fill his plate. Turning to face me, he nodded as if I had just reminded him of something important.
"We should throw her a party!" Tommy proudly declared, " She knows no one other than us and Damien. If you don't do something big to woo her- he will!" Nodding my head, agreeing with him, I frowned as realisation hit me- we couldn't. She had plans!
"Not a bad idea, mate, but... she's seeing Damien after lunch. It's not nearly enough time to throw a party. At least not the sort of parties you throw!" Seeing the grin on his face, I knew he had taken it as a compliment. However, it wasn't meant to be one.
"His parties usually come with a three-day hangover and at least one round of antibiotics!" Archer laughed, but I could hear the excitement in his voice; he liked the idea.
"What a shame it would be if she had too much fun and alcohol and stayed here instead... No way he won't lose his shit! That's enough to put any girl off," Tommy beamed, his tone velvety smooth.
"He nearly murdered you today- she's still in his arms!" I groaned, although slightly bemused by his ability to bounce back and forgive.
"But, not forget!" Archer winked. "I can feel his wolf... Rafe wants the prick-BADLY."
"So does she, apparently!" I grumbled moodily.
"What?" I laughed. Seeing Tommy sitting opposite me, wiggling his eyebrows playfully, I rolled my eyes.
"Bro, you just went through about a million emotions! Archer kicking your ass again?"
"HA!" Archer grinned, looking through my eyes at Tommy.
"Always," He sniped with a wink at Tommy before I could shove to the back of my mind, groaning at how these two bounced off each other.
"We don't know what she is? She might not even be able to drink!" I acknowledged starting to come around to the idea as I watched Tommy shovel food into his mouth.
"Then we get the strong stuff that your father has brewed." He laughed and those wiggling eyebrows returned, making me faceplant my hand.
"And if she's not supernatural, and I was right? and she's human, that stuff will knock her out with one sniff?" I asked, looking at him nervously.
"Dude... Seriously, how many humans have you met with pure power radiating from their hands, healing a dying man and putting thoughts or visions in your mind? She's no human!" He laughed, looking down at his now empty plate disappointedly.
"True. Then what is she?" I mused, watching him get to his feet and head to the fridge, pulling out a Tupperware box filled with leftovers. Grabbing a fork, he sat back with me, already working through the food.
"Does it matter- she's not evil! I can STILL feel her life force running through me... It's pure Jason... like PURE! She's on our team." He answered, looking at me seriously.
"Then why is she with Damien now- he isn't exactly pure, is he?" I quizzed, knowing he didn't have the answers I needed.
"Because she's female- they ain't as smart as they think! They think they want a bad boy- Until he steals her shit, shaves her cat and runs off with her best mate!" Winking at me, I knew he was trying to ease my pain, and honestly, it was working.
"So, let him spend the night with her. YOU will be celebrating tomorrow with her- her 18th birthday!"
"Given the car ride and my father's views on the situation, I doubt he will agree!" I muttered, leaning over to take the last potato from his Tupperware and popping it in my mouth.
"You know what they say - if one parent says no - ask the other." Tommy chuckled slyly, making me smirk - an idea forming in my mind.
