Tommy's POV
"Rafe! Calm down!" I bellowed at my wolf, my voice hoarse from screaming to try and get my stubborn animal's attention; it appeared in vain; I was undoubtedly being shut out! I looked on in horror as Rafe pummelled Jason's face into the dirt around us; given the cocky grin on Jason's face, he was simply biding his time before he struck! And when he did, I knew devastation would follow!
I knew Jason kept Archer under tight lock and key because of his anger issues! His ability to flip on a coin and go from 1-1000 in seconds was magnificent to watch, but being on the other end of that wrath would spell disaster for Rafe and I!
I hoped our friendship meant more to them than Archer's bloodlust and need to kill! I was not the enemy! Despite what it looked like! My wolf was in control of my body, pinning Jason in the grass, landing blow upon blow on his face in an unprovoked attack.
Excruciating pain soared through my body, stopping my reckless attack on my best mate and, one day, Alpha! Looking at my legs, seeing Jason's hands disappearing and twisting in my flesh. The tormented cry that left my lips seemed to shock Rafe momentarily, giving me a chance to reason with the fool!
"Rafe! Stop! Look at everyone! Look at the pack!" I pleaded, feeling relieved as his eyes scanned the grounds seeing all those we cared for locked in the heat of battle - a battle with no enemy! Only loved ones! "Everyone is fighting! We are going to destroy each other." I tried to reason, hoping the nightmare that clung to my words would make him see sense.
"Magic!" He snarled aloud, his anger subsiding quickly.
"Yes! Magic! Look at everyone's eyes! They are.."
"FUCKKK!" Rafe growled, pain piercing through me; Archer had twisted his hands in my thighs again, this time deeper, mindlessly destroying the muscles surrounding my femur. Archer's nails elongated while buried in my skin, cutting through my flesh like butter; with a snarl, his wolf claws pulled from my flesh coated in my blood and tissue.
Rolling over onto my side, Rafe wailed in agony inside my head, all thoughts of the dark magic weaving through the pack gone! Archer wasn't the only one who was hungry for blood now! Rafe had a score to settle; I could feel his temper rising to a catastrophic level! His only saving grace was the wound upon my thighs- disabling us and forcing him to surrender.
Archer towered over us, having got to his feet while we languished in pain; I could feel my flesh restoring, the wound healing but not quick enough to thwart any attack the Alpha wolf made! I knew we were powerless- and so did he!
I watched as Archer took a run at a small wolf who had cornered my sister. Effortlessly pulling her off Kayla by the scruff of its neck. The beast snapped its teeth at Archer viciously, trying to get loose- to no avail.
"He is going to kill Kayla; that's why he pulled the wolf off! He wants to do it himself!" Rafe cried, panic shooting through us.
Archer's free hand clamped on the wolf's jaw, his nails digging into her muzzle, slicing through her strong wolf's flesh even in his human form; a menacing cry tore from his throat as the wolf whimpered in regret and misery. With one ruthless tear, he pulled the wolf in two, throwing her bloodied head towards me, her body landing at his feet.
"Do something!" Rafe screamed at me; fear paralysed me; all I could do was watch helplessly as Archer's eyes, filled with bloodlust, narrowed in on my sister!
Pulling Kayla to his side, I watched him nod to her, an unspoken bond passing between them that had Rafe pausing, realisation dawning on us: We finally understood why he had refused to give her up! Why there was a pair of lifeless eyes staring up at us!
"He loves her just as much as Jason does!" My wolf and I admitted in-sync, but what did that mean for Abigail? For Kayla?
My strength had started to return, but I knew I would still be no match for Archer; looking through my wolf's eyes to see where my father was, where our Alpha was, my heart plummeted seeing the pair of them in wolf form tearing chunks out of each other! The snarls and growls filled the air as the training yard erupted into unimaginable chaos!
Flicking my eyes back to my oldest friend, just in time to see him crunch the lifeless body of a pack member under his boot and force it into the mud. Kayla scooped up in his arms; he approached me, his eyes swirled with purple fire. He was lost to his rage and the magic! There was no reaching him!
His foot landed on my throat, crushing it and causing all air to evacuate my lungs. Adding pressure, I looked up at Archer, not too ashamed to beg for my life if I needed to! Even depleted from trying to heal, Rafe somehow still found the strength to sink his teeth into Jason's calves- regretting it instantly as Archer's other foot slammed into the side of my head, almost knocking me out cold.
"STAY DOWN, OR I WILL KILL YOU!" He hissed, the tone taking me by surprise. It was not the raspy voice of Archer- instead, it was Jason! My eyes shot to Jason's face, surprised to see the black hues tinged with purple gone, in its place the endless greens of Jason, the iris aglow with a purple glimmer letting me know he still had some magic coursing through his veins- but like me- he was fighting it! And if he had control, perhaps, I stood a chance!
Nodding to him, I laid my head back on the muddy grass, willing Rafe to submit and not retaliate, sighing as he did as I bid! Although I was unsure whether it was due to exhaustion or obedience, it didn't matter! Jason lifted his foot slowly, his eyes assessing me, before he nodded, satisfied, I would follow his commands.
Kayla nuzzled against his chest, her dainty arms wrapped around his neck as she kissed at each of his cuts and bruises. I winced seeing her petite frame painted in her own battle scars! Sighing, I laid my head back and watched him disappear into the forest with my sister!
I wanted to believe that he wouldn't hurt her! That he loved her!
"I always thought he loved us like a brother!" Rafe whimpered in the back of my head, letting me know he had concerns about leaving Jason alone with my little sister! My wolfless, defenceless sister!
"Hurry up and heal!" I snapped at Rafe, pulling myself to the closest tree and slumping up against it, watching the madness unfold around us all!
"Are you going to follow them?" Rafe asked, his voice small; I understood why; he didn't want to go head to head with Archer again, but she was family! I would protect her with my life!
"I can't trust he won't hurt her!" I whispered in defeat- both of us knowing the decision we were about to make would seal our fate! One way or another!
