Jason's POV
"You know the girl set you up, right?" My Father accused with a side glance; sitting back against the headboard, I stared at him blankly.
"Bullshit!" Archer laughed, settling behind my eyes to observe him closely. "If he truly thought that she had anything to do with that beast, she'd still be here."
"We don't know if Marcus did take her home." I countered. As hard as it was to accept, we didn't know anything and wouldn't, until we were out of this bed.
"What makes you say that?" I asked my Father casually, pulling the sheet off me and swinging my legs around the bed, for the first time seeing the damage.
"The best nearly tore your leg off, not to mention.." My Father's voice trailed off as he nodded to my chest, seeing half-moon gashes slowly healing along my rib cage. "I would say it used you like a chew toy!" My Father scoffed.
"It took me by surprise; I didn't smell anything or see anything beforehand, no warning, no nothing." I admitted tracing my fingers along the mark on my rips that I knew would leave a scar. Besides these two injuries, I knew my shoulder had been dislocated as it hurt like a mother fucker, although it was healing now.
"You're welcome!" Archer grinned, still observing my Father.
"Yeah, thanks, Buddy!" My Father noting Archer and I communicating, added his to cents.
"Why didn't Archer protect you?"
"He didn't sense him either; he, like me, was focusing on Abigail," I admitted, unashamed.
"So the beast meant to protect you, failed you?" He questioned, invoking a deep growl from Archer.
"We were on pact territory; neither he nor I felt the need to be alert, given how much you pay security, Pops. I thought we would be safe. Tell me have you asked the border patrol or security team how a huge fuck off wolf, the size of a damn elephant, happened to sneak past them. Attacking their soon-to-be alpha and then vanishing?" I demanded as I slipped from the bed naked and unembarrassed.
"Sounds like an inside job if you ask me!" I snapped.
"Dickhead!" Archer grinned as I pulled a shirt on and grabbed a pair of sweatpants from a pile of folded clothes on the dresser; I could smell Kayla on them and inwardly smiled at how thoughtful she was to have fetched these from my room. I owed her better than what I was giving her! But the idea of giving Abigail up ate at my insides. Especially now, I had feasted upon her and savoured her pleasures! There was more chance of hell freezing over than me giving up Abigail.
Eventually, I noted my Father's silence and turned to face him, his eyes glossed over. I knew he was not impressed by my accusation, but we both knew my questions were valid and needed answering.
"I will deal with those on patrol." Is all he muttered! We both knew what 'deal' meant. He would harshly question.
"And Abigail, what makes you think she had anything to do with it?" I prodded further as I grabbed a washcloth from the side and made quick work of my face and neck.
"It's just too big of a coincidence. Given her relationship with the Blackwoods, I think there is more to this than YOU realise OR are letting yourself see." He admitted with a sigh standing from the bed and heading to the floor. "Don't be fooled by a pretty face, son; you have to see my concern, she turns up in town, and everything goes to shit; she turns up here, and my son is attacked, and my line is almost wiped out." He admitted running a hand through his hair.
"She has bewitched you because there is no way my son would ever disrespect his mate, his chosen Luna and their bonds for a simple fuck! I get you think you love her and need her! But I beg you to show restraint and listen to reason; She is trying to come between you and Kayla, destroy your name and reputation and with it, this packs future!" He begged before opening the door and walking out of the room, leaving me with the burden of everything he said.
Throwing the cloth aggressively at the door, I roared after him, but it was half-hearted because his words had struck a nerve and cracked my resolve even a little, letting doubt seep in.
"Can we talk?" Kayla asked through the door, her voice sweet and light, but the anxiety in her tone was not lost on me. Sighing, I motioned for her to come in, beaming at her as the scent of coffee filtered through the room, handing me my mug. Fuck I loved her!
"Thank you, Luv." Taking the cup, I slipped my arm around her waist and pulled her to my side, nodding for her to say what we both knew was on her mind.
"Come with me." She smiled up at me, leaning on her tiptoes to peck my lips tenderly, although I noted the lack of love in her touch mixed with a slight hint of jealousy. Obliging her, I let her lead the way down to the summer room, its glass ceilings giving us a perfect view of the clear skies and night's stars as they flickered down on us. Kayla sat on one of the sofas and nodded for me to sit on the other; with a shake of my head, I placed my coffee on the side beside her before scooping her into my arms, taking her seat and nestling her into my arms.
"Say whatever you need to say, Kayla; I won't be angry. I have no right to be." I admitted shame twisting at my heart.
"You love her, don't you?" She asked, her eyes boring into mine hopefully. Nodding. I felt her heart break a little through the bonds and needed to rectify the situation; cupping my finger under her chin, I lifted her head to look at me, holding her tear-filled eyes.
"BUT, I love you too! I don't love her more if you are worried about that. I can not be without her any more than I can you! I know it is selfish, but I want and need you both."
Nodding, she sucked down her tears and ran her finger over her mark, lost in thought.
"You wanted to mark her, didn't you?" She asked eventually, making me sigh again.
"I didn't do it, I wouldn't have until you, and I had had a chance to talk," I admitted. "I need to know where you stand with all this; it's a lot for you to take in. I know sharing isn't exactly your thing." I laughed, pecking her nose with a wink.
"She's very beautiful." She mused; I could tell she was wallowing in self-doubt, and I hated seeing her so crestfallen. Leaning in, my lips found hers, coaxing them to part to allow my tongue access to her warmth; my tongue searched for hers, teasing it and forcing it to dance to my tune.
"SO, ARE. YOU," I growled against her mouth. "YOU will be the pack's Luna! YOU will be the mother to the future, my pups; I want YOU!" I promised against her lips, deepening the kiss. "But I need her too," I admitted, truthfully, a smile splitting my lips as she nodded and agreed.
"Good girl!" I purred into her ear. Shall we get started then.." I grinned mischievously.
"Started?" She asked, arching a brow, her beautiful face washed with confusion.
"On filling you with my pup's!" I growled, pulling her across my lap and against my already hungry cock.
