Dana POV
I don't feel like I can keep fighting right now. It's a dark moment where I feel completely alone, but then there's a man who made all of those feelings disappear.
I don't trust him with that recognizable voice. He took me - he lifted me, and that's when I saw his face, Alpha Bathel Harris.
"Is she up?"
"She is awake, but her body is struggling to function properly following the intense attack by the rogues. She exerted her power, which impacted her wolf."
"I hope the healer can help her recover quickly," he said. The voice sounded like Bathel's, but I couldn't move or speak.
I find myself unable to move my body. I'm familiar with him, we used to meet for some reason. He leads the Sun Flower Pack, known for their strength.
"You appeared to be overly concerned," a woman's voice remarks.
"She used to assist me, so I wish for her to recover quickly. There's absolutely no justification for that," he retorted firmly.
She replied, "I know. Rest assured, she will be okay. The healer mentioned the possibility of her waking up today," she said, filling me with so much hope that I felt the urge to shake my body and call for assistance.
It's frustrating to listen to their conversation without being able to intervene.
"I'll leave you here," she declared.
"Oh, absolutely not!" That's the conclusion my mind has reached. I can't even make out what my wolf is trying to communicate at this moment. Is she still breathing?
"What? Are you planning to stay here" she inquired.
He whispered, "Certainly not..."
"I'll only return if she wakes up," he said, and I struggled to scream.
Is it possible that I have passed away?
"I am alive!" My eyes widened in surprise as I gazed up at the white ceiling.
I feel disoriented and confused about my surroundings. I sway my body to show I'm alive, feeling my wolf's breath near my ear. I scan my surroundings, everything still unclear until my eyes meet a man who appears too flawless to be real.
He's a recognizable figure.
I was never mistaken. He went by the name Alpha Bathel.
His brown hair and eyes complement his strikingly attractive face. His intense focus is solely on me, even with someone standing next to him.
"Where am I..." I whispered.
"Woman, you shouldn't feel threatened around us when my brother- "
"Anna," the man with a deep voice and attractive face interrupted the woman without shifting his gaze away from me.
Anna, the woman, rolled her eyes.
She replied, "Fine," before walking away.
I nibble on my lips and glance around.
"I still can't- "
"You entered our territory and were attacked by rogues- "
"I have never ventured into a different forest. I know it's still the land of Moon Stone Pack." I responded, still feeling defensive, while he looked at me with a smile in his eyes as if he found my words ridiculous.
He chuckles at the mention of the Moon Stone Pack.
"What's mine is mine, and that pack has nothing to do with mine." He stated with a chilling tone and eyes blazing with anger when I brought up Ares's pack that concerned me.
"I must depart now," I stated. "Should I express my gratitude for saving my life?" Feeling uncertain, I inquired as I rose from the bed, only to have him effortlessly grab my arm, causing my eyes to widen.
"What are you up to?"
"Don't you recall who I am?" He inquired with a gentle tone, his gaze tender as he studied my facial features.
Gazing at his face, I feel like I can see into his soul. I recall things, and his face... They're still familiar, and I'm too scared to answer his question. He pushed me away and shook his head.
"You can't go by yourself," he stated. "Yesterday, you were almost killed by rogues."
"This is not a regular event," he said with evident frustration.
I can sense the rhythm of my heartbeat. I understand the importance of being cautious given my past experiences.
Taking a deep breath, I tried to calm myself, "I know I am sorry- "
"Explain what happened so I can avoid taking actions you didn't want. The pack members are uneasy about a girl running here after being attacked randomly." He cut me off, showing his impatience.
I sit down on the bed while he takes a seat in the chair across from me, gently holding his chest with his hand.
"I'm not sure if it's necessary to explain my perspective at this moment," I whispered.
"I require a detailed explanation," he stated impatiently.
I gulp, "It's about silly love," I chuckled.
"The boy I loved the most replaced me with a woman who ruined my life, the very girl who killed my parents. You must be familiar with the most prominent Alpha- Ares Zander Hendrix, along with his new Luna, Blaire Van Everhart." I glance down, fidgeting with my hand as it shakes.
Recounting a tale as if we were strangers is uncomfortable for me- back when we were teenagers in the woods, I would assist him with his injuries from battling the rogues.
At this moment, his gaze is fixed on me. I feel a strong connection with him. I'm curious if he still recalls.
He knows me, for sure.
"Is that everything?" He inquired.
"I accepted his rejection because he humiliated me, I turned my back to that pack so I didn't expect that I trespass on your land, should I apologize to you, Your Majesty?" His eyes lit up - I could tell he just realized that I remember him.
I recall those vivid memories...
'How are you feeling, Your Highness?'
'Call me Bathel, Dana.'
"You've undergone quite a transformation- "
"Anna will help you," he interjected as he stood up from the chair, prompting me to quickly rise from the bed.
"I know that you remember me. We remember each other." He turned his face towards me after I asked.
Such a mesmerizing beauty.
"You can choose to stay here if you want. Feel at ease. You're in a secure place, Dana."
