CHAPTER 13 You Came to My Rescue

  Dana POV

Bathel guided me to the clinic room of the pack, allowing me to rest on the bed. I couldn't fathom why he was doing this for me. Although I believed I was fine, deep down, I was grateful that he had saved me. I would have been too foolish and cowardly to back out from Anna on my own.

"Are you comfortable if I try to alleviate your suffering?" he asked, kneeling in front of me, his hand hesitating near my wounded leg.

My heart raced, and I felt a wave of shyness wash over me. Bathel is more than just your average guy - he is the powerful Alpha of the Sun Flower Pack, a well-respected leader. Rumor has it that he despises physical contact.

"I mean, if you also feel comfortable..." I murmured awkwardly.

"Can you answer me?" He speaks gently while maintaining unwavering eye contact with me.

I bit my lower lip and slowly nodded. "Yes," I whispered, feeling the rhythm of my heart. I just hoped that he couldn't read my emotions.

When his hand touched my thighs, I immediately sensed pain in my legs, while also experiencing discomfort in my back simultaneously.

"You shouldn't be doing this for me, Alpha-"

"Bathel," he corrected me once again.

I looked down and sighed. "Bathel... You shouldn't be helping someone like me," I mumbled, and he paused, his hands still on my leg, as he looked up at me.

"What makes you think that?" he asked.

"Because you're an Alpha, and an Omega like me shouldn't have the privilege of touching you," I responded without hesitation.

There was no reaction on his face.

"Where did you get that information?" His words left me speechless. I couldn't answer because Ares was the one who had ingrained such beliefs in me.

An Alpha couldn't be friends with anyone beneath his rank, except for the Beta and Gamma.

"Well-" I began, but my words were cut off when he applied something to my wounds.

  "Shit," I whispered.

"I don't care, Dana," he repeated in a stern tone. "At that time, you truly saved my life. I was on the verge of passing away, and you were there to help me. You came to my rescue. Your social standing does not define your level of kindness, and I do not believe that you are weak in the way that you characterize yourself." During the time that he was applying the bandage to my wounds, he continued, and his words moved my heart.

He stood up and I continued to gaze at him. "No-"

"Not everyone has the same mindset as the man who broke your heart," he interrupted me without any hesitation-despite the fact that his speech was icy, the gentleness that was present in his gaze made me feel secure and at rest.

"Do you need anything?" he inquired.

I looked around, at a loss for words. "Oh no, I'm fine..." I replied quickly.

"You should rest and let your body heal. I'll call the healer for you," he said, to which I simply nodded with a smile.

"Thank you..." My voice trailed off as he turned to leave the room, but he paused and glanced back at me.

"Take care. If you ever need a trainer, I'm here for you," he murmured. His voice was almost shy. I couldn't help but smile and eagerly nodded, to which he returned the gesture before exiting the room.

While Angela, the healer, was attending to my wounds by Bathel's instructions, I could already feel the relief in my back. My eagerness to get back on my feet was palpable. Anna made her way into the room with a grin on her face as she slowly climbed out of bed and entered the space.

"Are you still up for it?" she inquired, sounding doubtful.

I nodded without hesitation, noticing the change in her expression.

"Really?" she whispered. "You have no idea how much Bathel cares about you. I don't understand what's going on with you. He's only known you for a few weeks, maybe a month, but he cares about you because you saved his life..."

"It's strange because there are so many others who have saved him countless times, yet he seems blind to it," she continued, leaving me puzzled. I couldn't grasp her point.

I smiled. "Well, I think Bathel is just kind to everyone. I can see that-"

"You're not 'everyone', Dana," she cut me off, moving closer.

"I don't know what's happening," She murmured while settling into the chair next to the bed. "But I can tell he views you differently from others. He doesn't see you as just an omega," she continued, causing me to chuckle.

"He's your brother, you know him best. He can be distant from me too. There are moments when he shows kindness, perhaps I truly saved him from the brink of death...and I'm grateful to have saved someone!" I declared, attempting to shift her focus.

I don't believe Bathel perceives me any differently than other omegas. Maybe he was simply grateful for my actions. However, I didn't want to argue with Anna at this moment.

"Forget it," she sighed. "I just hope you don't lose interest in training-"

"I won't," I interrupted, thoughts drifting to Ares and Blaire once more.

Ares and Blaire are my sources of motivation in battle, providing solace amidst the pain I carry in my heart.

"Does love truly have that effect on you, Dana?" Her tone was gentle.

I gritted my teeth and glanced downward. "Losing the man I love doesn't bother me," I remarked, trying to conceal the pain, then turned to face her. "Perhaps losing him was necessary for me to find someone even better, and that someone is all of you."

"I experienced a sense of betrayal... It hurts me to think that they're winning and getting more powerful after everything that has occurred. I cannot allow them to thrive as the dominant pack after the way they treated me and my parents."
