Dana POV
"It was a short meeting with you," he remarks, his tone tinged with regret.
I chuckle softly. "Well, it was an important meeting you had with your beta," I tease, leaning in to peck a kiss on his lips with a smirk.
A wide smile graces his lips as I begin to walk backward, keeping my gaze locked on his. "See you tomorrow, Alpha," I say with a smile, anticipation bubbling within me for our upcoming time together.
"I can't wait for another day with you," he replies, his words filled with warmth and longing as I turn and make my way back to my room, already counting down the hours until our next encounter.
Another day dawns, and surprisingly, I find myself feeling satisfied. Despite the mysterious events of yesterday, Bathel's presence has a way of easing my worries and leaving me feeling at peace.
As I gaze at my reflection in the mirror, I take extra care to ensure that I look and smell my best for my next encounter with Bathel.
"You're destined to be the Luna of the Sun Flower's Pack," Xia remarks, her voice filled with quiet confidence.
I smile at her reflection in the mirror. "I have a lot to consider," I reply, my smile widening as I contemplate the weight of my potential role.
"I understand. You don't just want to be a choice; you want to be the chosen one in every aspect of your life," she states, her words hitting home as I nod in agreement.
"Yeah, that's right," I affirm, feeling a sense of determination and purpose settle over me as I prepare to face whatever challenges lie ahead.
"I'm happy to see you gradually finding happiness, and I'm excited to have my next bonded wolf," Xia speaks, her tone filled with genuine joy.
"You mean I'm slowly becoming my true self? I know this is the right choice, and it's a satisfying form of revenge," I chuckle lightly as I adjust my hair.
"Are you sure you're not just doing this out of revenge against Blaire and Ares?" Her question catches me off guard, leaving me momentarily speechless as I pause in my preparations.
"Why would you think that?" I ask, my voice betraying a hint of defensiveness. "You know I have feelings for Bathel; it's undeniable. He's my chosen mate, and I'm determined to be his chosen mate as well. I'm not making decisions based on the people who made my life difficult. I know how to separate my desires from my plans," I assert, applying a coat of lipstick to my lips.
"I know, I just want to be sure," Xia replies softly, her concern evident in her tone.
With a snicker, I push Xia's concerns to the back of my mind and refocus on my reflection in the mirror. After a final adjustment, I take a deep breath and step out of my room, ready to face whatever the day may bring.
I step out of the pack house and notice several people going about their activities outside. Among them, I spot Anna engaged in conversation with a man who soon walks away.
"Anna," I call out to her.
She turns towards me with a smile. "Well, aren't you stunning today," she remarks with a playful smirk.
"Really?" I glance down, feeling a bit self-conscious.
She giggles, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "You've always been beautiful, but I didn't realize you had a stylish side to you beyond just training yourself," she comments, her tone teasing, and I join in her laughter.
"Well, this is just one of those days..." I said, but halted myself mid-sentence. "What's been going on?" I inquire, shifting the topic.
Anna lets out a sigh of frustration. "My brother has decided to conduct a double check. He wants to ensure that there are no other trespassers in the pack and investigate any unusual occurrences," she explains. Although she may not have all the details, her tone suggests that something significant is happening.
"Oh?" I murmur, feeling a sense of apprehension creeping in.
"Yes, many warriors are even pointing fingers at each other for the unusual incidents. The CCTV even got tampered with, as if someone knew exactly where it was. It's all just very strange," Anna responds, her words echoing my concerns and heightening my unease.
"Oh, I didn't expect that," I whisper in response to Anna's revelation.
"You're not the only one left wondering. After so many years of success for our pack, it's unsettling to encounter such occurrences," she sighs, shaking her head in disbelief.
I let out a soft sigh, ensuring it's quiet enough that Anna doesn't hear. "My day is ruined over something as simple as this dress," I murmur to myself.
Anna chuckles. "Well, you don't need to worry. In my theory, whoever did this likely isn't from our pack. It could be someone from outside, hoping to see us fail. But they don't know what I have planned next..." she says, her voice laced with determination.
I understand what she meant by that, but I refrain from asking about her further plans. Anna is exceptionally clever, and I doubt I would fully comprehend her intentions anyway.
Attempting to steer the conversation away from potentially sensitive topics, I inquire, "So, how's Divine?"
Anna's expression softens as she replies, "She's doing quite well. She's already taken on a role in training the other omegas."
"I'm glad to hear that. I don't feel bad about that at all," I respond without hesitation.
Her smirk widened, reflecting a mix of amusement and intrigue. "It's reassuring to witness your ability to discern between your feelings and the appropriate actions to take."
