CHAPTER 67 You Have To Stop

  Dana POV

"I need to check on you again," Bathel replied, his voice gentle yet insistent.

A smile tugged at my lips as I reassured him, "I'm fine." Despite my words, he continued to approach.

"Did you feel anything else?" he inquired, concern etched in his features. "Something might-"

"No, really, I'm fine," I interjected, halting his train of thought before it could veer into further worry.

"Thank you for asking," I added with a smile, appreciating his attentiveness even amidst his busy schedule.

"I don't know what I'd do without you by my side, Dana," Bathel confessed, his voice soft with emotion. "The thought of you being in danger, of someone holding a grudge against you-it pains me deeply."

I drew closer to him, inhaling deeply as I pressed my body against his, seeking solace in his embrace.

"It won't happen again," I vowed earnestly. "I'm capable of defending myself now. I'll keep training, and no one can stand in my way. No one can come between us and our love," I affirmed, my hand reaching out to touch his arms, conveying my unwavering determination.

He nodded solemnly. "I trust you," Bathel affirmed, his faith in me unwavering.

"But the elders have expressed concerns about the baby's well-being and the potential stress you might be experiencing," he explained gently. I felt the urge to refuse his suggestion, but I couldn't dismiss his worry.

I relented. "Okay," I agreed, understanding his perspective and acknowledging his care.

"Thank you, baby," he murmured, pressing a kiss to my cheek, eliciting a smile from me in return.

Relieved by the doctor's reassurance of my and the baby's well-being, Bathel finally found the peace of mind he had been seeking. With his worries alleviated, I resumed my usual activities, no longer preoccupied with intense training sessions. Patrolling the woods became a routine once again, and I did so without the burden of fear weighing me down.

As I made my way back to the pack house, hunger gnawed at my stomach, prompting me to head straight for the pantry in search of sustenance. The aroma of food filled the air, tempting my senses. Despite the past betrayal by Mariel, I couldn't deny the allure of her culinary creations. The memory of her poisoned food lingered, but the temptation to taste her dishes persisted, her culinary skills still holding a certain allure.

As I selected my food with caution, mindful of the potential dangers lurking within, a sudden sense of unease washed over me. The distinct scent of someone unfamiliar invaded my senses, causing my head to swim with dizziness.

"Do you want some-" I began to speak, only to be abruptly interrupted by the sight of Mariel accompanied by two unknown men, her presence sending a chill down my spine.

"What are you doing here-" I started to question, but before I could finish my sentence, one of the men kicked me forcefully, sending me sprawling to the ground.

Despite my instinct to fight back, my efforts were thwarted as the other man swiftly pressed a handkerchief soaked with a potent substance against my nose, its fumes overpowering my senses and causing me to lose consciousness.

As I regained consciousness, my surroundings revealed themselves to be a dark and unfamiliar cave, far removed from the safety of the pack. A sense of unease washed over me as I struggled to piece together what had transpired.

"Hello!?" I called out into the darkness, my voice echoing off the cavern walls.

"You've awakened," a voice responded, and I turned to see a man approaching me from the shadows. Fear and confusion mingled within me as I awaited his explanation, uncertain of what lay ahead.

My heart raced as the man loomed over me, a sense of dread creeping over me like a suffocating blanket. Frozen in place, I struggled to find my voice as fear held me in its grip.

"What have you done!? And who are you!? You were with Mariel, right!?" I demanded, summoning all my courage as I rose to my feet to confront him.

"We need to find a way out of here!" Xia's voice broke through my panic, her words a lifeline in the darkness, urging me to take action despite my overwhelming sense of vulnerability.

"This is for your good, Luna..." His voice dripped with sarcasm, sending shivers down my spine as I scanned the dimly lit surroundings, desperate for an escape route. The flickering light of the bonfire offered little solace, casting eerie shadows that danced along the cavern walls.

Shaking my head in disbelief, I muttered, "Did you and Mariel plan this?"

"Did someone force you to do this-" My words trailed off as he suddenly let out a primal howl, his features contorting into that of a wolf. Before I could react, his claws pierced my skin, digging into my cheeks, and with a violent force, he slammed me against the unforgiving stones of the cave floor. Pain exploded throughout my body as darkness enveloped my senses once more.

Pain wracked my body as I groaned in agony, attempting to fend off my assailant. "Stop it!" I pleaded, desperation lacing my voice as I struggled to push him away. But my efforts were in vain as he ruthlessly kicked me back to the ground.

"I relish every moment of this," he howled triumphantly, his blows raining down upon me, each one met with a surge of pain. With my hands instinctively cradling my stomach, I rolled my body, instinctively shielding the precious life growing within me from harm.

"Please, you have to stop!" I implored, my voice trembling with fear and anguish as I lay helpless on the ground, the weight of his violence pressing down upon me.

My body trembled with weakness, my wolf subdued by the poison coursing through my veins. I struggled to summon the strength to resist as the man taunted me, his words a cruel reminder of my current vulnerability.

With a savage strike, he hurled a stone at my head, eliciting a cry of pain from my lips. Gritting my teeth against the agony, I pushed through the haze of dizziness, forcing myself to stand despite the odds stacked against me.
