Ares POV
"You should dance with me," she teased, a playful smirk gracing her lips as she leaned in closer. Her voice carried a flirtatious edge that I couldn't help but find endearing. With a smile, I gently placed my hand on her waist, feeling the warmth of her touch as her hand settled on my shoulder.
Our faces drew closer, our bodies swaying in sync with the rhythm of the music. The proximity between us became palpable, our breaths mingling in the air as our lips hovered dangerously close to each other. With a sense of anticipation coursing through me, I closed my eyes, surrendering to the moment.
In response, she gasped softly, her hand tightening its grip on my shoulder as she pulled me closer, bridging the remaining gap between us with a tender kiss. The sensation of her lips against mine sent a jolt of electricity through my veins, igniting a fire within me that I couldn't ignore.
Lost in the intoxicating embrace of the music and the warmth of her touch, I closed my eyes, allowing myself to be swept away by the thoughts of HER.
"Dana," I murmured, my words barely audible as they escaped through the space between our lips.
She paused mid-kiss, a playful glint dancing in her eyes. "I didn't quite catch that," she laughed, her voice carrying a lightness that mirrored the carefree atmosphere surrounding us.
"We should get some fresh air!" she exclaimed eagerly, seizing my hand and leading me out of the bustling club.
Now, beneath the gentle glow of the moonlight, we stood outside the club, enveloped in the tranquility of the night. Despite the serene surroundings, her constant touch made me uneasy, a reminder of the intimacy shared between us that felt misplaced.
As she continued to reach out and make contact, I couldn't shake the discomfort that settled in the pit of my stomach, the physical connection now tinged with a sense of unease at the realization that it was coming from the wrong person.
"What are you up to?" I chuckled nervously, our faces mere inches apart in the dim light.
"You look incredibly attractive," she murmured, her hand drifting to rest lightly on my chest, her gaze filled with a hint of vulnerability.
"Are you single?" she inquired, her question hanging in the air, laden with a mixture of curiosity and longing.
I bit my lower lip, a flicker of hesitation crossing my features. "No," I replied softly, the weight of my words hanging heavily in the air.
Regret flickered in her eyes, a shadow passing over her features. "That's unfortunate," she murmured, her tone tinged with disappointment. "I've always been open to one-night stands with guys who have wives or girlfriends, you know..." Her words sent a shiver down my spine, a discomfort stirring within me as my wolf instincts yearned to shift under the light of the moon.
I couldn't help but smile at her words, a sense of anticipation coursing through me. "You might regret those words," I replied, my tone teasing as her laughter echoed in the night.
She placed her hand on my shoulder, her confidence unwavering. "What? I'm not afraid of-" Her words trailed off as a primal howl erupted from within me, my body contorting and shifting as my wolf form emerged, my face now bearing the visage of my lupine self.
As her scream pierced the night air, reverberating with fear and disbelief, she turned and bolted away, her panicked footsteps fading into the distance as she fled from the unexpected sight before her.
I remained rooted in place, my wolf senses attuned to her fleeing form, yet I made no move to pursue her. She continued to run, disappearing into the darkness, her figure gradually shrinking from view until she was nothing more than a fleeting memory.
I watched her retreat, a mixture of emotions swirling within me-regret, sadness, and a sense of relief mingled with the lingering echoes of her terrified cries.
Exiting my car, I ventured into the outskirts of the Sun Flower Pack territory, my mind preoccupied with the events that had unfolded earlier. Lost in thought, I failed to anticipate the presence of anyone else in the vicinity.
To my surprise, as I stepped out of the vehicle, my eyes met Bathel's steady gaze, his form looming before me as if he had been expecting my arrival. Caught off guard by his sudden appearance, I braced myself for the inevitable confrontation that awaited.
As Bathel's rage surged, he seized my shirt with a vice-like grip, slamming my body against the nearest wall with a force that took me by surprise. His eyes blazed with fury, a fiery red hue overtaking the usual calmness within them.
"Leave Dana alone!" he bellowed, his voice reverberating with raw emotion as he unleashed his pent-up anger.
With a powerful shove, he sent me crashing to the ground, the impact jolting through my body. Despite the pain, I couldn't help but mock him, a smirk playing on my lips as I struggled to rise to my feet.
"It hurts," I taunted, my words dripping with sarcasm as I defiantly stood before him, ready to face whatever consequences lay ahead.
"How many times do I have to tell you to stop!?" Bathel thundered, his voice laced with fury as he loomed over me. I could see the raw intensity in his eyes, a clear indication of just how deeply I had provoked him. Despite the primal instincts stirring within me, I managed to maintain control over my wolf's emotions, refusing to let them spiral out of control.
"If you kill me, you'll only invite more enemies," I countered calmly, a defiant edge to my words. The mention of potential repercussions seemed to strike a nerve, causing Bathel's jaw to clench with frustration.
"You're bothering Dana!" He yelled, his voice cracking with anger and frustration.
"Did she tell you that?" I retorted, a smirk playing at the corners of my lips as I attempted to goad him, to provoke a reaction.
