"I killed her," I announced confidently to the menacing men from the Black River Pack, my voice ringing out in the tense silence.
In reality, I hadn't killed her yet. Blaire was still alive, tied up in the forest, wounded from a gunshot.
Hernando's head shook in disbelief. "No... No," he mumbled, his voice barely audible amidst the chaos. "What have you done!" he yelled, his desperation evident as he lunged toward me. However, Ares intervened, forcefully pushing him away before he could reach me.
"I explicitly instructed you to address me," Ares reminded him icily, his patience wearing thin.
Hernando clenched his jaw, his gaze sweeping the area. "Where is my daughter..." he muttered, his eyes fixed on me.
"In the forest," I stated plainly.
He gritted his teeth, turning to address his men. "Let's move!" he commanded, his voice filled with determination.
"Expect your demise upon my return," Hernando muttered, his gaze fixed on both Ares and me.
Without wasting a moment, they all hastened their departure, heading towards the forest. I knew they would return.
Ares reached out and touched my hand. "Are you alright-"
"Don't concern yourself with that at the moment," I interjected. "Focus on what comes next," I added, scanning our surroundings. The onlookers displayed expressions of confusion or disdain as they observed us.
"And I don't know..." I trailed off, uncertainty gnawing at me. Ares made no attempt to conceal his concern for me.
"Is the bomb set?" Ares turned to address Ander and Drake, their conversation sending a surge of confusion through me.
Ander nodded solemnly. "Yes, it's in place," he replied, his tone grave, while Drake produced a phone.
"What's going on?" I panicked. "What is all this?" I demanded, my heart racing with fear.
"This is their demise," Drake replied coldly, his words sending a chill down my spine.
"What? Are you certain...?" I scoffed, struggling to comprehend that they had been orchestrating this plan all along.
"What can we do!?" The voices of the pack members rose in a chorus of panic, their desperate cries demanding reassurance and diverting Ares' attention from addressing my inquiry.
Ares clapped his hands once, commanding the attention of the crowd. "We are all secure," he assured them firmly.
"What has happened to the Luna?" Several among them voiced their confusion, turning to the Alpha for answers without hesitation.
"Everyone, please, remain calm," Ander implored, his voice cutting through the chaotic murmurs. I turned to Ares, noticing his hesitation in addressing their questions.
It seemed he was struggling.
"I administered justice to the Luna," Ares finally spoke, his words heavy with conviction. "She was a despicable individual, and I trust you all comprehend that," he continued, prompting a collective exchange of uncertain glances among the crowd.
To my surprise, nods of agreement rippled through the assembly.
"She was vile," someone affirmed. "We are well aware of her transgressions, but are we truly replacing her with some omega?" The question stung, delivered with a sharp edge that failed to elicit the usual ache in my heart.
"She's not merely the omega you perceive her to be..." Ares's words trailed off as I tuned them out. I turned away discreetly, slipping away unnoticed amidst the commotion.
No one paid heed to my departure.
I felt invisible, destined to remain unseen within this pack.
Continuing on my solitary path, I ventured towards the forest, intent on ascertaining whether those men had located Blaire yet. It was unlikely they would find her easily without my assistance. Their underestimation of me was evident, but I was determined to prove them wrong.
I made my way swiftly to the tree where Blaire was bound, noting that the men had not yet arrived at her location.
She gasped as she caught sight of me, her breaths coming in shallow, ragged gasps. "Help me..." she pleaded, desperation evident in her voice. "I promise I won't harm you once I-"
"Did you even consider my feelings when you made the choices that ruined my life?" I interjected, my voice tinged with bitterness.
Her lips quivered, her skin marred by the searing pain of the silver bullet. "It's excruciating... I need a healer! My healer!" she pleaded, her cries echoing through the forest.
"There's no sign of her wolf," she sobbed. "My wolf is fading... Please, release me," she pleaded. "This has gone too far."
A smirk tugged at my lips. "What's too far when you took the lives of my parents and my child, Blaire?" I chuckled darkly. "You haven't learned a thing. You're only pleading now because you want me to spare you. But I'm not here to please anyone anymore!" I exclaimed, relishing the sight of tears streaming down her cheeks.
"Farewell, Blaire," I declared.
"Are you going to leave me to burn in this place-" Hernando's voice interrupted, his sudden arrival catching me off guard. Quickly, I retreated from the scene.
As the three men seized my hand, their shouts reverberated through the air. Yet, I remained resolute, accepting my fate.
If today marked my end, then so be it. I would face it alongside them.
Hernando's panic was palpable as he frantically unchained his daughter, her body ablaze from the silver bullet. His cries were filled with rage.
"Did she do this to you!?" he demanded, his voice echoing with fury.
"Dad, I'm fading..." she whimpered, her words tearing at my heart as I witnessed her suffering, regretting that she hadn't succumbed quickly after my shot had landed.
I remained steadfast, devoid of remorse.
